Hallo folks,Found an interesting combo that I am thinking of buying to do a one step upgrade of my PC.It is AMD ATHLON 64 3400 SOCKET 754 + ABIT KV8-PRO, that I can get at a very good price. This setup is to replace my existing combination details of which can be found in my signature below.I would be truly grateful for your opinion on how is this upgrade about to improve my sim performance. Thanks a lot in advance for your time.Dom

Hi Dom,To answer your question simply, yes, your upgrade will improve your sim performance somewhat substantially. But at the same time, there's a reason why you're getting a good deal: socket 754 is on the verge of being phased out. In other words, you'll be going into a dead end with such an upgrade. You'd have to sacrifice the motherboard when you do yet another upgrade later. Having said that, this upgrade can be attractive as it allows you to keep using your aging AGP graphics card.If I were you, I would try as much as possible to go with a Socket 939 CPU with an NVIDIA nForce4 motherboard and go PCI Express with your graphics card as well. But if your budget doesn't permit, what you have suggested is a viable solution - I'd still try to get a Socket 939 platform though.Hope this helps.Edwin
