January 20, 200620 yr I have struggled through this for a few days now, tweaking settings etc but to no avail, it's time to ask for help !I have a BFG GeForce 6600GT OC on my home PC running FS9.1 and whenever I set anti aliasing to 8xS (the max it will allow) I eventually get my system to either crash completely or go into a re-boot.It happens at different points, sometimes during taxi, during take off roll, cruise or on approach, happens every time, no matter what aircraft, airport or region of the World.I have tried changing as many display options as I can think of but the result is always the same.Another anomoly at 8xS is the aircraft does not appear in the FS menu window.Whenever I lower the AA settings it all runs flawlessly and the aircraft appears again in the window.I was using the latest NVIDIA drivers (81.98 I think - the ones released on 21 Dec 2005) and I tried going back and using the 78.01 drivers but this did not solve the problem either.I've run out of ideas, does anyone have any suggestions?System specs (from memory)Intel P4 3.0GHz HT2 GB PC4200 DDR2 SDRAMBFG GeFroce 6600GT OCSoundblaster Live (not sure of version off my head)Win XP Media Center SP2FS9.1 (patched)Edit:Forgot to say also I have flashing textures occassionally, but always at night, whenever I turn the lights on. The whole outer textures begin to flash like crazy, also happens to AI planes when they turn their lights on. Lots of flashing in water too and sometimes in clouds, this happens at 8xS or at 4 anti aliasing. If anyone can help with this too that would be great !Thanks for any helpGarry
January 23, 200620 yr Hi gary I have an evga 6600GT 128mb AGP with the 81.95 and have not the exact problem you have but similiar. On 8xS my graphics look great at first, but simple movement around the VC or looking around on the 2d panel causes my ground textures to blur incredibly. I get the flashing on the water occasionally also. I don't have any major problems when at 4x AA but the graphics do not look quite as crisp as 8xS. My aircraft also disappear on the aircraft select screen, its just a black spot. Looking at your specs the only thing that could be affecting FS is XP media center not being ideal for gaming but I am not for certain. What I do know for a fact is that Nvida cards AA the clouds and I see a significant drop in frames with clouds added opposed to no clouds. I have the FE clouds with DXT3 and low resolution options enabled. I have begun to realize through research that there are many problems with Nvida cards and FS9. Though the 6600GT is newer and performs better in most games such as FarCry and Doom, in FS9 the older ATI Radeon 9800 would work better due to it not AA clouds and have a larger bandwith! Moreover, I think ATI cards are better equipped for FS9 than Nvida cards. Since I only play Flight Simulator on my computer, I am going to sell my 6600GT and purchase the ATI's X800 AGP and stick to that while I save for a high end computer. Here are my specs:HP a320nAMD Athlon 2800+A7N8X-LA mobo (Could be the world's worst rated mobo thank you HP! lol)Corsair PC2700120 GB Ultra DMA 5400rpm (load times are pretty slow, horrendous(10-12min) w/megascenery)Antec 400w PSUSound card? Nope, does it make a big difference? Thanks,Marcus
