Upgrading to an X1900XTX

Featured Replies

I right now have 256MB 7800GTX and have an X1900XTX on they way. How does an X1900XTX or an X1800XT performs in FS2004 compared to a 256MB 7800GTX. If it performs worse than my 7800GTX in FS2004 then I won't open the box and I'll return it for a refund and wait for a faster card to come out. I play FS2004 at 1600x1200 4xAA and 8xAF and most details maxed.

You would not see $600+US worth of performance increase with the new card. Also, alot depends on your other system components. If they aren't up to delivering the goods with the X1900 XTX then you will have really wasted your money. What aren't you getting (in the form of performance and IQ) from the 7800? And what are your system specs?Greg

I have not seen anyone report on the X1900XTX and FS...I would be anxious to know myself!!..I have read the X1800XT 512mb card ran well...But it didn't sound like it absolutly blew the 7800GTX 256mb card Away or anything in FS...I personally *Don't Think* that the X1900XTX is going to make a world of difference over a 7800GTX...Just my opinion though...No Facts or even "hear-say" to support that statement...I'm in the market for a new videocard too...It will be a bit before I'm ready to get serious about getting one though...I am going for a 512mb card for sure...Just not sure weather it will be ATI or nVidia...Good Luck with your Decision...

If just playing Flightsimulator ATI is the best choice, if playing other games as well such as half-life go with NvidiaGood LuckMarcus

>If just playing Flightsimulator ATI is the best choice, if>playing other games as well such as half-life go with Nvidia>What makes ATI the single best choice for MSFS? Not a fair (true?) statement without more data to support it other than you said so. Just another split issue in this hobby. I've owned "top end" cards from both camps and have wished many times I could have the best features/qualities of both in one item. Things change each fiscal or so and one jumps out in front of the other. We could stand to be a little open minded here, couldn't we?...
