February 18, 200620 yr LOL, probably depends on the definition of wrong. Considering Intel makes more profits per quarter than AMD turns over in an entire year, there isn't much they could be doing wrong. Technologicly however, IMHO, they should have had the guts to dump the ill-fated P4-tech much earlier. OTOH, having invested lots of money, they maybe wanted a return on their investments first? Considering the growth in the mobile market, Intel is doing very well in at least one field. Kind regards Jaap
February 20, 200620 yr Author Good response. However, I guess I spoke to soon.http://marketwatch-cnet.com.com/Intel+stri...g=feed&subj=newHey, I want Intel to get back on their feet so that the pace of new CPU technology will increase and prices for new CPUs decrease.RH
March 7, 200620 yr Another matter of definition... :-) AFAIK, the figure you're refering to is 80% of the desktop market. In the business and notebook field, AMD is still next to nowhere. I just finsihed reading a book (The History of the Internet) which was published in 1999. It's amazing to see how the market has shifted since. Back then, Intel had a market share of 90% and more. AFAIK, that's down to roughly 80% now. :-) In recent times and as far as I would dare to judge, Intel's errors have been AMD's succes. All AMD needs now, is a succesful business platform and a breakthrough in the notebook field. I guess it will be easier for AMD to achieve a significant market share in the business field first. Cheers and kind regards Jaap
March 9, 200620 yr Was that tongue in cheek or a serious comment? AMD (which I am a big fan of) has about 21% of the market at last report. http://www.theglobeandmail.com/servlet/sto...PStory/BusinessCraig
