Chipmeisters: I Need a Chip Tip

Featured Replies

I'm gathering parts for a new build to be based on an Intel 945PVS board with a BFG GeForce 7800 GT OC. Would I notice a significant difference in performance in FS9 and FSX between an Intel dual core D930 (3.0 Ghz) and a D950 (3.4 Ghz)? There's about a $120 price difference between them. Worth it?Thanks

Well it depends. If you're keeping the CPU at stock speeds, then of course the 950 will be a bit faster than the 930. However, the 930 is a monster overclocker!!So my advise: Get the D930 and overclock it. It can run very stable at clock speeds up to 4 GHz. You can de a Google on the D930 and you'll find plenty of hits on how to OC it, and there's a couple of good reviews out there too.

urgh *cough, cough* go amd *cough* :(

Ah yes, AMD X2 is of course the better chip BUT, it is wayyyy too expensive. Even the 3800+ is a lot more expensive than an Intel 930. So if I was getting a dual core, I'd probably choose the 930 and OC it to da max.

Yes, the X2 is indeed the better chip, it

I think that the first builds of 165 were the strong overclockers but I agree that the extra cache is good. As for my 3800 x2 it is doing fine at 2.55 with the stock heatsink.Regards,
