I think my new 7600GT is giving me a headache!

Recommended Posts

G'Day!I have just installed a new m/b (MSI K8N Diamond) and a new GPU (Gigabyte 7600GT 256mb PCI-e), and for some reason I can't fly during the day!!I have been playing around with the display settings in FS9 and in the Display Settings panel for the video card, but no luck. What I have found is that by switching off AA, Render to Texture and transform and lighting in FS9, and leaving all my card settings to default, I can fly during the day (but as you can imagine it doesn't look all that good). The moment I switch on Render to Texture OR add some AA, I can no longer fly by Day.The strangest part is that leaving everything switched on and AA maxed out, I can fly during Dawn, Dusk or Night....Any ideas or help would be greatly appreciated!System specs : Motherboard: MSI K8N Diamond CPU: AMD64 3200+ RAM: Generic 1536mb (2x 512mb, 2x 256mb) HDD: WD 80gb ATA, WD 250gb SATA GPU: Gigabyte 7600GT 256mb PCI-eDirectX 9.0c - Office XP Pro - Fresh installation of FS9

Have a great Day/Night where ever you are! :-wave

By "I can no longer fly by Day." what do you mean exactly. Do you get Artifacts, or too dark, what sort of display issues you have?

I knew i forgot something... sorry! The computer freezes and i can hear a really loud noise coming from the speakers (like static noise). Ctrl Alt Del does not work and required a push of the reset button... also i forgot to mention the motherboard comes with on board Sound Blaster ( Live! 24-bit).

Have you installed the mobo/chipset drivers? sounds to me that for some reason the audio drivers cut out on you and causing some sort of hardlock. What you can do is uninstall the 7600 and sblive. Run drivercleaner to get rid of the Creative and Forceware leftovers. And then reinstall those.http://www.drivercleaner.net/

I've removed all drvers using drivercleaner as per instructions, and re-installed them, but the problem is still there.I have also disabled the SBLive! from the BIOS, tried several other display settings combinations in and out of FS9, deleted the fs9.cfg file several times, but still nothing.I've also just noticed that NView is not allowing me to use dual monitors. Its recognising both my monitors but only allowing me to switch between them but not use both at the same time! weird... :-newburnWith Transform And Lighting ON, the comp. crashes immediately during the day time and requires a reboot. During all other times (Dawn, Dusk and Night) it will continue running with stutters for no more than a minute then crash, and requiring a reboot. As I type I am downloading the latest NVidia Beta drivers; fingers crossed, it may work. The motherboard drivers seem to be the latest. If anyone out there has a Gigabyte 7600GT PCI-e (the pipe cooling version) and isn't hving any problems i'd luv to know your settings! All help is greatly appreciated!

Hi, I had the same mobo, and at first was a little "picky" with memory. Finally I had to buy two (identic and Value series) 1024 MB DDR400 KINGSTON (this chipset only works in dual channel modules in a few combinations; read the manual), because the computer was frozen two minutes after FS9 was launched. Since then , everything has been smooth as silk. I have an ATI X850XT, though. Regards.Miquel Egea.

Windows is freezing up aswell. I had a read of the manual and the mem config I have is OK but by the looks of it doesn't support my RAM. So I will be getting 2g's worth of Kingstons next week and will report back again then. Thanks for all the help guys!
