June 15, 200619 yr which of these 2 would run FS better? I dont wanna spend of 200 and i wanna stay w/a Nvidea card.GeForce 6600 GT / 512MB GDDR3 / PCI Express orNVIDIA GeForce 6800 GS / 512MB GDDR3orGeForce 7600 GT / 256MB GDDR3 / PCI Express Just curious if the 512 would be a better choice?ThanksAhmad
June 16, 200619 yr Hi Ahmad,Before even going into the videocard, what does the rest of your system look like?. You don't want to create a bottleneck.
June 16, 200619 yr Dell P4 3.4ghz, 1gb RAM, gonna up that as well, 160gb HD..currently has an ATI x600 256mb card that came from dell, but i do not like that card compaired to the 256mb nvida cards ive had in other systems.
June 16, 200619 yr Ahmad,Good question. I have the same system and am ready to buy a new video card. Been leaning toward the 7600 but not sure if there will be any difference between the GDDR2 or GDDR3. Carl Carl PC AMD Ryzen R7-5700G (8-Core) processor), AMD Radeon RX 6600 Graphics 8GB/ 2TB HD + 500GB SSD, 16GB DDR4 3200MHz RAM, Win11 _____________________________________________________________________________________
June 16, 200619 yr Hi Ahmad, CarlWell the only diff i know of with GDDR2 and 3 is that 3 works on a lower voltage, performance wise i dont see much of a gain/loss. And as far as vidmem is concerned, nowadays not many games will use more than 256Megs, However getting 512 will most definatly futureproof yourself with games to come. *remember fsx maybe wise to wait upgrading now?
June 16, 200619 yr Davis,Thanaks for your quick responsIe.I beleive the Dell PS is only 350watts. I think most of the new cards and the 7600 states 400watt or higher recommended. Will this create a problem.?Carl Carl PC AMD Ryzen R7-5700G (8-Core) processor), AMD Radeon RX 6600 Graphics 8GB/ 2TB HD + 500GB SSD, 16GB DDR4 3200MHz RAM, Win11 _____________________________________________________________________________________
June 16, 200619 yr Yeah Carl,I would definatly go atleast with a 450, the card does require quite some juice, add to that all the other components. Get a good brand PSU 450 or above and you'll have a stable system.
