August 25, 200619 yr Does anyone have this video card (ATI X1900 XTX 512 MB PCIe)? I'm thinking about upgrading mine from a X800 XT. I think the advantages of getting ATI's latest card would be great. Any comments or suggestions would be grateful!
August 26, 200619 yr HiYa Ryan...I have a X1900XTX...ATI is currently releasing the X1950XTX so that will actually be their latest offering..You may wanna' take a look at those before making a decision...It's suppose to come in a little less expensive than the X1900's but apparently be a competator to the nVidia 7950GX2??I like the X1900XTX alright...I think I kinda prefer my nVidia cards though...I havn't really got the ATI tweeking quite figured out just yet...It may be a case of "what I'm use too"...I really need to sit down and study the ATI Tweek Guide...I also have a X800XTPE on my "Old Faithful" 3400+/AGP system which I love!! The X1900's in a 4800x2 PCIe system...It does alright but I'm getting some shimmering that I have had no luck resolving thusfar...I'm running the 6.8 CCC drivers...I've tried w/o CCC and using ATI Tray Tools instead with the same results...I really think I need to spend some time tweeking and I'll get strightened out..I just havn't put the effort into it...I'm not too sure what your looking for in the upgrade?? The X800's a nice card...I'm not exactly sure what the 1900's gonna do for ya'...Kinda depends on the rest of your system...I wouldn't expect a Super Dramatic improvement in FPS...You really don't gain allot with the 512mb of RAM in FS over a 256mb card...You may gain a bit of Image Ouality...It does seem to be pretty smooth and responsive...But I'm a firm believer that allot has to do with "System Harmony"...Have you considered waiting until the DX-10 cards become avaliable?? (I dunno'...Just felt like I needed to say that because that is what everyone else says..he he)...But there is some merit to that if your not big on upgrading allot...I personally do allot of upgrading...So I don't mind the fact these cards will be outdated in 6 months or whenever the DX-10 cards hit the market...Not sure if this helps or not?? If you have any specific questions just hollar...Have Fun!!
