The reason for the increased FPS is the computer doesn't have to cycle through the sound software to provide sound. The stability could be the result for your on-board sound chip using the same IRQ as other peripheral, such as, network adapters, video chips, etc.If you purchase a sound card, try to get one that will use an IRQ not being used by your system. To check on IRQ usage, open device manager, select View, select Resources by type, Select Interrupt request (IRQ).W. i have now installed a soundcard, and this gave a few extra fps.i was also checking these irq settings, and for the soundcard this is ok, but for the videocard it says it's on 16, but there are also 2 usb host controllers on sixteen. Should i change those to another irq? And how can i do this?hope someone can help me out on this one, seems rather complicated?
