Is anyone flying Captain Sim's 757-200 on FSX?

Featured Replies

I am running a rather fast rig core2duo 6700, 2 gig ram, dual nvidia 7800's in SLI. But the base CS 757-200 runs at less than 1 frame/sec in vc view. I have unloaded and reloaded several times. no improvement, even with game settings on minimal. Captain Sim's tech help does little other than respond with a rather defensive canned statement that the problem is FSX.

Hi"Captain Sim's tech help does little other than respond with a rather defensive canned statement that the problem is FSX"Yet they went ahead and sold it to you knowing that.I really can`t help you except to say that you are having a typical Captain Sim experience.Pete

FSX can barely after much tweaking be flown with default aircraft, and only really is acceptable with low FPS hogging aircraft like the Overland group. and using non-default AI like AI AAdvark! With an aircraft with all the complex annimations and detail such as the CS-757, looks like it's just too much for FSX. Imagine what it will be like when they throw in the systems block on top of that? I have doubts it's going to be much better for other high detail complex aircraft like the upcoming MD-11 from PMDG, or LDS, atleast without stripping some of the detail, these developers are noted for. In FS9 these aircraft reduced performance, although still at an acceptable level, in FSX it's going to be a much harder for them to get this type of performance. My problem with CS is they without telling anyone went ahead, and developed their upcoming (If ever) systems/flight model blocks (F/D respectively) primarily for FSX. Many including me, viewed this as a betrayal as they clearly marketed these blocks as as upcoming additions to the existing product. I think they gambled it would be an easy transition, and everyone would flock to the new sim. Unfortuneately for them, FSX hogs more rsources, leaving little wiggle room for such a highly detail visual model. I think they realize this now, as they have opened up (although not commiting to it)the possibility of completing the development for the 757 to FS9! In fact they claim, their FMC is compatible in both FSX and FS9. They show little proof of this, and I don't see how that is possible as complex systems would undoubtly require a .dll file (like PMDG, and LDS) which would probably not be compatible without modifications.

Thanks

Thanks for your comments. This confirms my suspicions. I had hoped that there was some oversight on my part that accounted for the dramatically poor performance. You would think CS would have tested the product on FSX before marketing it. As it is, 757 is unflyable in FSX.
