December 30, 200619 yr I'm thinking of upgrading from my CRT to a widescreen LCD. With the widescreen, are the panels distorted? Any negatives to using one for FSX?Thanks,Jim
January 7, 200719 yr None here. There is actually a setting in the config file to indicate you are using one. FSX looks great on mine.
January 9, 200719 yr Dave,If you turn On the 16:9 option in the .cfg, and view on a 16:9 monitor, do you actually see more in of a view to the left and right when looking full screen with no 2d panel? I, as others probably have noticed, FSX is very limited in field of view when set to the default of 100% zoom. For me, I do a negative zoom of 73% to get the left-front, front, and right-front views to align. This is with a 4:3 display. Would you nees less negative zoom to get the screens to align? I will probably go 16:9 in the future but was curious if this helps in seeing more of the outside view.Regards,Richard
January 17, 200719 yr Yes, in VC you see more side to side. I never fly in 2D but I haven't seen a difference there. The 2d panels do stretch to the sides. VCs don't, you just see more peripheral.
January 25, 200719 yr Hi I recently got a 22" widescreen lcd for FS. In VC it is superb - much more peripheral vision available and more instruments visible comfortably. The 2d panels are stretched. This doesn`t matter for me as I`m a vc flyer (especially now my new rig can handle the fattest vc`s comfortably) but I`m not sure I`d recommend it for a 2d panel flyer without encouraging them to try and see what they make of it before buying..Incidentally Chimei 221D 22" lcd is an excellent cheap LCD. Its 1/2 the price of the equivalent Philips offering and has had plenty of good reviews. The stand is cheap and basic but hey, I`m not staring at the stand when flying! CheersJames
January 26, 200719 yr A lot of people use standard 2d panel and have a 16:10 screen, hope to have a fix in the incoming FSX patchAndy
