January 9, 200719 yr I have just bought a ECS elitegroup RS 400A mainboard and an Intel Pentium D 930 3GHz dual core processor along with one GB of Ram. I have also got a PNY GEFORCE 7600 AGP graphics card. Appeared to have the NVIDIA technology but was considerably cheaper (and presumably not as good).I've upgraded my computer several times in the past but never had this problem. When I switch the computer on the power and HDD lights come on and I can hear the fan going but I have no picture on the screen and there are no further beeps or indication anything else is happening.I disconected the graphics card and plugged the monitor into the onboard graphics port and the same thing happened.Any one got any ideas?
January 10, 200719 yr You can try re-setting the bios, however more likely it could be that you have a DOA since not even the onboard gpu works (you have checked the bios upon bootup that the onboard gpu is active right? that is ofcourse if you even get to the bios), or that you might have made a short circuit when putting it into the case (you did use the spacers right? and connected ALL the cables.). Did you try the mobo with GPU before installing it into the case? If you did and it worked before you might be faced with an RMA.
January 10, 200719 yr First check all cables and jumpers. As a first step, remove the RAM modules and place only 1 in the primary slot...then try again. A bad DIMM will prevent you even from getting into the BIOS. Then swap to the other one. If it works with one and not the other, you have a bad DIMM. If neither works, try it again using the secondary slot. If still nogo, it's very unlikely to be a RAM problem. At that point, if you have another board that'll take that CPU available, I'd try to put it in there and at least get it to the BIOS to determine if the CPU is OK.Beyond that, looks like an RMA...both the CPU and the mobo, unles you can take it to the store and get them to bench a new mobo or CPU and show you they work.RegardsBob ScottATP IMEL Gulfstream II-III-IV-VSantiago de Chile Bob Scott | President and CEO, AVSIM Inc ATP Gulfstream II-III-IV-V Sys1 (MSFS20+24/XPlane12+11): AMD 9800X3D, water 2x240mm, MSI MPG X670E Carbon, 64GB GSkill 6000/30, nVidia RTX4090FE Alienware AW3821DW 38" 21:9 GSync, 2x4TB Crucial T705 PCIe5 + 2x2TB Samsung 990 SSD, EVGA 1000P2 PSU, 12.9" iPad Pro Thrustmaster TCA Boeing Yoke, TCA Airbus Sidestick, Twin TCA Airbus Throttle quads, PFC Cirrus Pedals, Coolermaster HAF932 case Sys2 (P3Dv5/v4): i9-13900KS, water 2x360mm, ASUS Z790 Hero, 32GB GSkill 7800MHz CAS36, ASUS RTX4090 Samsung 55" JS8500 4K TV@60Hz, 3x 2TB WD SN850X 1x 4TB Crucial P3 M.2 NVME SSD, EVGA 1600T2 PSU Fiber link to Yamaha RX-V467 Home Theater Receiver, Polk/Klipsch 6" bookshelf speakers, Polk 12" subwoofer, 12.9" iPad Pro PFC yoke/throttle quad/pedals with custom Hall sensor retrofit, Thermaltake View 71 case, Stream Deck XL button box Sys3 (DCS/P3Dv4/ATS/ETS): AMD 7800X3D, MSI MPG X870E Carbon, Noctua NH-D15S, 64GB GSkill 6000/30, EVGA RTX3090 Alienware AW3420DW 34" 21:9 GSync, Corsair HX1000i PSU, 4TB Crucial T705 PCIe5 + 2TB Samsung 970Evo Plus, TM TCA Officer Pack, Saitek combat pedals, TM Warthog, TM RS300 FF wheel/pedals, Coolermaster HAF XB case
January 11, 200719 yr Thanks guys,It's starting to look like a DIMM prblem then. I've been back to the shop and replaced both the motherboard and the CPU and I've got the same fault. Is there a way of my computer shop testing the DIMM?
January 11, 200719 yr Test it by exclusion...have the shop put some other DIMM modules into the mobo, and if it boots, you have a pretty good idea where the problem was.RegardsBob ScottATP IMEL Gulfstream II-III-IV-VSantiago de Chile Bob Scott | President and CEO, AVSIM Inc ATP Gulfstream II-III-IV-V Sys1 (MSFS20+24/XPlane12+11): AMD 9800X3D, water 2x240mm, MSI MPG X670E Carbon, 64GB GSkill 6000/30, nVidia RTX4090FE Alienware AW3821DW 38" 21:9 GSync, 2x4TB Crucial T705 PCIe5 + 2x2TB Samsung 990 SSD, EVGA 1000P2 PSU, 12.9" iPad Pro Thrustmaster TCA Boeing Yoke, TCA Airbus Sidestick, Twin TCA Airbus Throttle quads, PFC Cirrus Pedals, Coolermaster HAF932 case Sys2 (P3Dv5/v4): i9-13900KS, water 2x360mm, ASUS Z790 Hero, 32GB GSkill 7800MHz CAS36, ASUS RTX4090 Samsung 55" JS8500 4K TV@60Hz, 3x 2TB WD SN850X 1x 4TB Crucial P3 M.2 NVME SSD, EVGA 1600T2 PSU Fiber link to Yamaha RX-V467 Home Theater Receiver, Polk/Klipsch 6" bookshelf speakers, Polk 12" subwoofer, 12.9" iPad Pro PFC yoke/throttle quad/pedals with custom Hall sensor retrofit, Thermaltake View 71 case, Stream Deck XL button box Sys3 (DCS/P3Dv4/ATS/ETS): AMD 7800X3D, MSI MPG X870E Carbon, Noctua NH-D15S, 64GB GSkill 6000/30, EVGA RTX3090 Alienware AW3420DW 34" 21:9 GSync, Corsair HX1000i PSU, 4TB Crucial T705 PCIe5 + 2TB Samsung 970Evo Plus, TM TCA Officer Pack, Saitek combat pedals, TM Warthog, TM RS300 FF wheel/pedals, Coolermaster HAF XB case
