April 18, 200719 yr Looking at this products very low price tag I am very tempted to try it out after suffering from somewhat poor performance with my current pc. Initially my goal was going to be to wait for k8l before upgrading, but since I wont be able to take advantage of ddr3 without a new mobo and ram and because the price is sure to be out of my range for some time for the performance I will want I am thinking about the 6000+. Right now with my 3800 at 2.8 I am getting fps in the 20's on the ground with detailed airports, and for some reason frf airports are in the teens, fly tampa is in the 20's. And occasionally they drop even lower depending on certain things. I have my frames locked at 30 but I don't have a steady 30. I think my bad performance may be due to my extreme ram divider. Since the 3800 does not have unlocked multipliers I was forced to lower the ram divider, its running cpu/9 right now at the lowest divider that my bios will allow. Now the 6000 is in my price range right now so that is not a huge concern, I think with the added 2.0 ghz and the fact that I wont need a divider it might be worth considering to add it to my system to help my performance, and its so cheap! But why is it cheap, does amd plan on giving us something so much better soon? What do you think, will this be a wise descision?
April 20, 200719 yr Ive made the decision to switch over to a c2d setup, with the e6600. I plan to overclock it, but I am concerned that my ram is holding me back and I dont want to run it ona divider again. With all of the addons such as asv6 pmdg 747 etc., I should be able to expect very decent performance even at stock speeds right (meaning fps at 35-40 all the time)?
April 28, 200719 yr I have a 2yr old 3500 (socket 939), 1gb ram, 7900gt.Been thinking about switching over to C2D myself. But I'm going to wait a month or so and see what happens with FSX SP1.There are some good articles around on overclocking C2D. Even e4300 or e6400 are great value powerhouses when overclocked.Check out these articles over at legion hardware http://www.legionhardware.com/list2.php Matthew S
