November 23, 200223 yr > >http://investor.cnet.com/investor/brokerag...0.html?tag=ltnc >>Are they talking April, 2003 now?????Not at all. You seem to be confusing Merrill Lynch's statement about the lower cost versions of NV3X in time to hit the April 2003 quarter, As already announced NV30 is "Taped-out" and due in systems from vendors in limited supply within roughly the next 30-40 days and longer for the retail product to hit store shelves.
November 23, 200223 yr I was focusing on the following language:""The first order of business for NVIDIA is to get NV30 off the ground. Though we picked up product specifics at the launch on Monday, we had a chance to get more detail on the timing of the ramp and remaining challenges yesterday. As expected, NVDIA has chosen not to use low-k dielectric on the NV-30, a decision which involves some performance compromises but also lowers the risk of any manufacturing miscues. With the part now qualified, waiting on system integrators to finish boards is the issue
November 23, 200223 yr Paul; here's another interesting article. No fan!!!!! Interesting. http://www.sapphiretech.com/VGA/9700proult.asp
November 23, 200223 yr I can see where you might understand it that way. However as announced before the Comdex (Nov 17) by Nvidias president and CEO Huang Jen-hsun, Mass production is before year end with deleveries in the first Qrt03 and NV31 and NV34 to follow by April.See if that fits in with this quote from the M.Lynch artical:"It will be very important for NVIDIA to successfully ramp the lower-cost versions of NV3X (NV31&34)in time to hit the April 2003 quarter, however. The successful launch of the high-end part will not be enough to support a revenue upturn in the April quarter."You would have to have been already distributing & selling the "part" for it to even be a concideration for revenue in the April quarter and that much more so "to support an upturn".Take care.
