Dauphin egine start sequence..

Featured Replies

Sometimes when I start the Dauphin, I can't get the rotors to spin up. I'm pretty sure that I'm following the start sequence correctly, that is, batteries>inverters>generators>fuel pumps>throttles just out of detent>start button>ground idle. When I move to flight and then apply throttle, no go. An I missing a switch/sequence or something? (the blades are rotating indicating that the engines have been started)Thanks,Mark

Hi Mark,There are two things that have caused this same problem on my system. One is that the throttle/collective isn't all the way closed. The other is that when these Gmax models start up in FS2002, the rotors are already spinning (I'm sure you've noticed). I've found that when I try to start the AS365 with the rotors in motion, chances are I'll not be able to get them up to full speed after going through the start sequence. Check to be sure nothing's moving before you flip the switches.Maybe others have seen something different, but those two things are what I've found to be the cause of my startup problems.Tom

In adition, if you increase the collective before the the RPM has risen into the green, the power will drop off... might be the problem you are experiencing.Alun

Thanks guys. I'll give it a try when I get home.Mark

Well, that took care of that! Everything works fine. One thing I did discover, at least on my machine, there seems to be a delay after starting the engines and before the rotor starts to spin. The two gauges below the AH gauge indicate this (not quite sure what those two gauges indicate, tho') Is this normal?

Mark: Don't know if this will work for you - if I'm in a hurry to getflying I press F1 then CTRL+F4 and last CTRL+SHIFT+F4 and wait 'til the Dauphin spins up and I'm off.

Hey Gary,I'll give that a try when I get home too! :>) Mark

Hmmmm....seems like I've really messed something up now. I can't seem to get the Dauphin started at ALL. I go thru the sequence described in the manual,(which I've done many times with success) I HEAR the engines starting, from spot view I SEE the rotors spinning, I move the levers to the 'flight' position, wait a few moments, apply throttle and nothing happens. The rpm gage on the far left actually seems to drop from what looks like a reading of 50 rpm (as far as I can see; it's a small gage). The rotor rpm gage reads nada. Very frustrating...I've tried this about 15 times and I know it's something ridiculously simple because I've done it before. What am I missing here besides a brain?!? I did download the updated version with the new sound set and flew it successfully yesterday so I don't think that's a related problem. Thanks again for any sage advice,Mark

I searched for this thread and I thought I'd ask if there was any new news, so to speak. I'd really like to start the Duphin form "Cold and Dark" but it just never gets past the 50RPM mark. I'm pretty sure I'm doing everything right. To get it started I have to switch to the Bell and then back again, but it's hardly realistic.Any ideas? Thanks in advance,Tom

Tom.Well, I can think of one idea (sorry, couldn't resist ;-) ), if you don't already own one, get a Fly! II up and running. Soon you'll be able to enjoy a fully functional cockpit and startup sequence. Although the initial version most likely won't include an autopilot, we're working on it as I type.Regards,Alejandro AmigorenaCheshire, CTFly!
