What's the lowest FPS you accept?
I have a rather old GeForce 8600M GT so am used to a few stutters from time to time. Since I fly mostly helos where smooth control is essential I aim for 10fps +. Maybe I'll bite the bullet and , wife permitting, will buy a new rig with all the latest bells and whistles. Gary

Do you use a joystick or yoke and why?
Bob, I've been using my trusty MS FF2 stick for almost ten years now - mostly drive helos but no problem with fixed wing.Gary

RIP: David "Opa" Marshal
How sad ! The void he leaves will be almost impossible to fill. I've followed his posts since 2004 and cannot count the number of times his advice has saved my flightsim bacon. You are now in a special place so rest peacefully.Gary

Finding duplicate FS X files
I've being using a free utility "Glary Utilities" ( google for it) and under "Modules" you will see Files & Folders. To the right of that select "Duplicate Files Finder". On your first use you will probably see a great many to deal with. I keep the latest dated one and delete the remainder. A monthly routine keeps the number of dups down to a dull roar and only minutes to accomplish the task. Glarys has many other neat maintenance items in that little program.Gary

what is your favourite aircraft for sightseeing?
I've used the R-22 helo for sightseeing. Being able to pause in mid-air gives me ample opportunity to take in the details.Gary

Hi Mitch, After years making many passages from mid-Vancouver Island to Alaska and return I would like to assure you the beauty of the scenery is right up there with anywhere on this globe. Gary

Bendix King/Honeywell FMC
To begin with thanks for including your changes to panel.cfg . In my frustration I deleted my entries and started again from the beginning using your edits and it worked right off. I should have saved a copy of mine to see where I went wrong but too late now.Now after all this I also cannot bring up the traffic on the map page. I flew my usual flight from CYVR to KSEA where I know I have always had lots of traffic but nothing! This old brain will now take some time to master the features of this FMC and down the line if I find how to get traffice to show I'll let you know.Appreciate your helpGary

Bendix King/Honeywell FMC
Well still no luck installing the FMC but I have just read instructions. It states that you click (RK5) to pull up the map of the area and then you can turn on and off features to the map using the (LK) buttons. Traffic view is even available on this map page it says but doesn't get into any more detail. I'll have to wait to give it a try. I note it says that the map does not track with the aircraft but can be scrolled with the number keys.Gary

Bendix King/Honeywell FMC
Unfortunately I don't have an answer for you yet. Just yesterday I was attempting to install that FMC in my Beech_King_Air_350 replacing the GPS in the panel.cfg but all that showed up was a black square. Over many years now I have had no trouble amending the panel.cfg of aircraft but must be making a simple mistake. If I get it up and running I'll see if I can help you unless someone jumps in with the answer.Gary

Pacific Northwest scenery (bush flying) is almost there
Now that with be a great combination. I suppose living in the southern part of Vancouver Island we are able to admire how well CYYJ and surrounding area including Victoria have been so beautifully and accurately reproduced by the teams involved. Pacific Northwest will add icing to the cake. Gary :(

Superb scenery. It seems that many have investigated it in the A2A Cub low and slow. Thanks for providing this excellent piece of artwork.Gary- Beautiful Tongass Fjords X
Thank you, David, for a most professional tribute to those who have provided so generously to our flight simming hobby. I envy your talent and also thank you for your own continued contribution.warmest regardsGary- Down memory lane
Please see the topic "Down memory lane" posted in "Swap Meet" forum where I listed a number of FS Sim programs which available on a first come first serve basis. I have both FU2 & FU3. Just asking for S & H .Gary- Interesting

.2 X 60 = 12 .27 X 60 = 16.2 eg N33 degrees 14 minutes 16.2 seconds- Cannot add scenery in FSX
Not sure if this is the same problem I had but when adding scenery on my Vista machine it didn't appear in the add-on scenery list. I fixed it by right clicking (I'm left handed so I left click) on the scenery file I wished to add and select "properties" at the bottom of the list. Under "General" at the bottom in Attributes uncheck the "read only" box so it is clear like the "hidden" box. OK your way out and proceed as normal.Hope this helpsGary- For ACES staff
It was encouraging to see and hear that PM Harper is coming up with a few $$ for CAE and it's well deserved. I know your company is in the business of real world training simulators but it sure would be terrific if you could incorporate a sub-division which could continue our FS hobby simulation. Maybe we might provide vast numbers of world wide beta testers for some of your software while we continue to enjoy our hobby.Just a thought!Good luck with picking up the ACES. Such a great pool of talent.Gary- Bell 206 HD Redux RELEASED!
Guys, thanks for generously providing this remarkable improvement to my favourite helicopter. The VC cockpit detail is excellent. I've been following your posts over at Hovercontrol so had a little advanced heads up. With folks like you around FS will continue to improve in future years.cheersGary - Cape Breton Island, Nova Scotia!
