can't disable "Don't sink" & similar warnings

Featured Replies

I just tried the latest Bell222 Gmax model available here from AVSIM. It'll yell at you if you let the VSI needle drop even a little into the negative and I also get "Low Terrain" warnings. I dug through the aircraft.cfg file and disabled autopilot and gear warning system thinking those would be attached to it but no luck. Searching here on the boards I found it's due to GPWS and that there should be a section in the aircraft.cfg that sets up the triggers for sounding the warning alerts - but there is no such section in the Bell222 aircraft.cfg file. Is the 222 really equipped with this system??

Should be in your Sound file.Gary

Nope. Sorry I forgot to mention that I had already looked in there too. I'm sure I can find the sound files themselves in my FSX sound folder and rename them but that solves this problem and breaks any other aircraft that legitimately uses this system so I'm not ready to go that far yet. It's on the table though since I have yet to regularly fly an aircraft that uses GPWS

Have you looked in the Panel cfg. to disable the GPWS gauge ? Russell.

IIRC - add this to your aircraft.cfg file [GPWS]max_warning_height = 0sink_rate_fpm = -9999excessive_sink_rate_fpm = -9999climbout_sink_rate_fpm = -9999flap_and_gear_sink_rate_fpm= -9999 and this will disable it. This is from memory so I might have missed something. Also - in your settings/controls/buttons there is a GPWS toggle - assign it to a key and you can turn it on and off as needed for the entire sim. Now that's very helpful. Thanks.

Thanks vgbaron! If the aircraft.cfg settings don't work I'll fall back on the key toggle.
