Do you use a joystick or yoke and why?

Featured Replies

I have used a joystick for years, and use it with all types of aircraft regardless of whether or not the aircraft uses a stick or yoke. I was just curious what others use and why.RegardsBob

Yep, I have a thrustmaster x36 which goes way way back and still love it. It's pots are getting worn and a few things stick here and there so I was thinking about a yoke this time but not sure yet.Bob

I have a CH flight stick... works great, great for flying helos and/or fixed wing.. It bugs me a bit that I don't have a yoke, but I don't have space where I could have it permantely set up. I wouldn't know where to go with my keyboard. so a joystk is just easier..

Ciao!

I used a Logitech Extreme 3D PRO for years. I recently made the move to a CH Eclipse Throttle and CH Throttle Quadrant. Fellas, I gotta tell you, that was one of the best moves I've ever made in flight simming. It has definitely upped the immersion factor and made my flight experiences much more enjoyable. Wish I had done it back when I built my PC.

I have been using stick/HOTAS/pedals forever.I am thinking about going to a yoke/throttle type affair; however, thats a really large intrusive footprint blob on the desk hence my contemplating updating to the G940 system or the Warthog. It's seems a lot easier stashing those bits when not in use as opposed to bolting/unbolting yoke/throttle combos.**edit**In addition good luck flying helicopters with a yoke!

Takes me less than 2 minutes to clamp my Yoke and Throttle to my desk. I don't use my desk top. I use the slide out keyboard shelf for the throttle and another slide out shelf on the right side of my desk for the quad when I need it for multi-engine flight.I still use my stick for aircraft that use the stick in RW.

I use Logitech Extreme 3D. Yoke takes up too much space and still waiting for a proper, quality Airbus....

+1 and use rudder pedals

Jay

Using a MS FFB2 stick with force feedback disabled. This way I get a loose stick feeling, much like a yoke without springed ailerons. I fly a lot of different types of planes, some with sidesticks, some with center sticks, some with yokes. I've had the joystick for about 10 years now and it's working great still! For throttle I use CH throttle in left hand. And recently I bought Saitek combat rudder pedals. The main reason why I use the joystick is because I don't have space (or have never had space) for a yoke on the desk.

I use the TM Warthog, because it's exceptionally well built, and flexible for many types of aircraft and sims. It feels less 'wrong' to fly a yoke ship with a stick than the other way around.

I use th Saitek Pro Flight System for all yoke-equipped aircraft, and use the Pro Flight System with the Thrustmaster T.16000M for Airbus flights. Why? because that's how you'd fly them in real life :(

I use my HOTAS flight stick, although Id like to have a yoke I have too many peripherals already as it is. I also really would like to try out the Warthog flight stick but not sure I want to spend that much just to find out I dont like it for some reason.

Lay your hands on one and you'll change your mind!Regards,G

For me it's stick only. I've tried both CH Yoke and Saitek yoke. I don't like flying with yokes. I was brought up flying a stick and that's the way it's gonna be.
