  1. Is it going to break UK2000 Scenery like the previous update which then needed to be tweaked?
  2. Ive just sold my HTC Vive. The resolution is just not good enough giving me eye strain. Gauges on PMDG are a real struggle. Its also irritating to wear for long periods. Have to agree that immersion is unbeatable. Back to 4k TV.
  3. Vram is video RAM. Not rhe same as virtual memory. What graphics card are you using and what screen resolution and AA?
  4. Any chance of a link to where it mentions 4k not recommended. I've had a quick look.
  5. Hi Martin Just ran Realbench 2.41 HT on (previous figures were from memory with HT off) 4.6Ghz. Peak VID 1.31. Typical 1.28. Peak Temp on hottest core. 76C. Typically 68-70C. This varies a bit because the fans throttle up at around 71C and the temperature drops into high 60's again. Strangely, Vcore sits at 1.264 and hardly moves (using latest CPU-Z) Bios is in offset mode -0.06V and LLC is at 3.
  6. I have the NDH 15 and transport the PC to flight sim meetings on a monthly basis. Will see how long it takes to break.
  7. Just a note to say I had to reactivate the 777 and 737 after updating from Win10 10240 to 10586 build on P3D V3. Havent tried FSX SE. Dont recall needing to do that on previous builds.
  8. Went from 780ti/2700k at 4k to 980ti/6700k and fps went up by around 35%-40% at the same settings. Unfortunately I cant say whether it was the processor or graphics made the most difference. If you are not running 4k then you probably wont see that level of improvement.
  9. Thanks for that. Should have scrolled down further.
  10. Hi I started P3D this morning and received a message thatthe RAAS is out of date. It seem that there is a new update for it dated yesterday. From the FSCrew site: To install: Login to your FS2Crew account (or 3rd party account where you purchased RAAS Professional) Redownload and re-install the full RAAS Professional package again. http://www.avsim.com/topic/386218-18-sept-2015-new-raas-updated-to-ver-2317-its-built-into-the-main-installer/ As I dont have an FSCrew account I wondered if the update will appear in the Operations Center or what the approved update method might be, Many thanks
  11. If you are having CTD's try turning your overclock down and see if they disappear. I had .dll errors causing hangs on P3D at 4.7Ghz which cleared at 4.6Ghz.
  12. Used a 4k TV (LG 42 inch, also tried Samsung 4k 55 inch) for the past year.I sit about 18 inches from it. It works fine even at 30Hz. I don't think a 1080p has adequate resolution for VC's by comparison but others may have opinions. The key factor for 4k is a decent graphics card, The 780ti worked okay but a 780ti made a big frame rate difference in P3D.
  13. I tried the Autotune and it wound the CPU up to 5Ghz in 100 Mhz increments before deciding the optimum was 4.8Ghz. The volts were still too high for my liking so I adjusted it for 4.6Ghz (at the moment).
  14. I moved from Sandy Bridge at 4.8Ghz on air to Skylake currently at 4.6Ghz on air (NH-D15). Temperature normally around 65C at 1.3V with P3d and RealBench. For performance test see here http://www.avsim.com/topic/329116-fsxmark11/page-49 . For comparison see the spreadsheet here https://docs.google.com/spreadsheet/ccc?key=0ApeEiOXGIvXidG9rNUdkSi13a09fb0JPQU5CektEelE#gid=0 I think 4.8Ghz is easily achieveable if you want to risk higher voltages.
  15. I put some result's here http://www.avsim.com/topic/329116-fsxmark11/page-49 at 4.5Ghz. Currently at 4.6 on air. Temperatures at 65C. Seems to be limited by how many volts you are willing to risk. Use Realbench for testing as load better matches FSX/P3D. Prime causes excessive volts in offset mode. HT off.
  16. Did almost the same upgrade 2700k at 4.8 to 6700k currently at 4.6Ghz. FPS improved aound 40%. Maybe partly due to moving from 780ti to 980ti overclocked. Taxiing around UK2000 EGKK, Orbx England, UT2, ASN, same settings as before. FSMark11 suggests 6700k at 4.5Ghz has same performance as 2600k at 5.2 Ghz.
  17. Ive built my Skylake 6700K PC to replace my Sandy Bridge 2700K. Results are shown here: http://www.avsim.com/topic/329116-fsxmark11/page-49. Looking at the FSMark11 listing Skylake at 4.5Ghz roughly equates to Sandy Bridge at 5.2Ghz (There seems to be one or two anomalies in the chart, possibly where WideAspect=True was not set in test). 4.5 Ghz at around 1.25V is easily achievable at a temperature 45C using Realbench which more accurately reflects FSX/P3D load. Prime95 is around 1.32V around 60C (Noctua NH D15 dual fan cooler, voltage in offset mode). 4.6Ghz is also easily achivable. Not willing to go above 1.35V permanently at the moment.
  18. You can't avoid doing an install over an existing version of Windows as all Windows 10 free upgrades are just that (otherwise you have to buy a new key). You have to install a version of Windows (7 SP1 or 8) and activate it first. Then you can install windows 10 from an ISO or on line and tell it 'clean install'. It will automatically activate. If you then want to clean reinstall in future, create an ISO from the current installation. The license will allow you to use it on a new machine as long as it is only ever installed on one machine.
  19. I did a clean install of Win 10 Preview (can't remember which version as there has been so many) over Windows 7 Ultimate a month or so ago followed by a clean install of P3D with no problems (remember to uninstall P3D first or you cant reactivate it). Have since updated to Win 10 Pro RTM and P3D, ASN, OPUS, PMDG737/777 etc still working. Just make an image of the relevant partitions before hand using the built in Win 7 or 8 imaging tool. As explained above, you can also roll back to previous windows install.
  20. ,''The RAF did use them for training purposes but never for display purpose'' Must have imagined seeing the Red Arrows flying them...I guess he is referring to that particular variant of Gnat.
  21. Microsoft differentiate between Updates and Upgrades (not sure what the difference is meant to be). Updates can't be deferred. Upgrades can be deferred.
  22. It's EGKK not EKGG and I agree, always on 26L approach.
  23. 8.1 drivers appear to install and work okay in Windows 10. There is also an Nvidia windows 10 driver available.
  24. Did and 'upgrade' from 8.1 to Win 10 preview 9927 a while ago. No obvious problems with FSX or P3DV2.5 and NGX/777. No reinstalls needed. Joystick dropouts fixed. Did a clean install of Win 10 preview 10074 with FSX SE and P3DV2.5 and NGX/777 on new SSD and subsequent upgrade to latest build Win 10 10130 and no obvious issues either. You may have to do the odd reactivation on some things. For example you have to 'reactivate' itunes. Can't promise everyone will have no problems. As an aside, I've used the NGX and 777 flights/panel saves created in previous FSX installs on 8.1 (with earlier version of NGX/777) in P3DV2.5 with no obvious problem except TCAS is alway off when you load the NGX. No big deal. Can't face doing all those flights again.
