  1. Hi everyone. In next days i will build up a new pc for P3D v4. I've a budget of 900euros. I chose a I5 8500 from intel, a gtx 1060 6gb 16gb ram ddr4 an ssd of 250gb and hdd 1tb. I run P3D always with the graphic settings set to mid-high and i use payware scenery and aircraft. I know that for P3D the CPU is very important, Can you tell me if the i5 8500 of 3GHZ is a good choise for fly around 30fps? If no can you advise me any other good cpu for run p3d v4? Thank you in advance!
  2. Hello guys, I am looking at the HP pavillion desktop PC's as they are in my price range. One of the PC's come with intel core i7-6700 Processor and the other comes with an i5-6400. The i5 processor is obviously cheaper!. Apart from that, they are almost identical and both have intel HD integrated 530 graphics. The 530 is a mid range iGPU and should be okay since fsx is heavily coded for CPU usage. My question is: is the £130 extra spend worth it for better fsx frame rates and performance. I will probably use aerosoft airbus and PMDG as well as UK2000 scenery. I want at least 20-25FPS. Is the i7 with higher clock speed and hyperthreading better than the cheaper i5 with no hyperthreading? Here are the rest of the specs: Operating system: Windows 10 Home 64 Processor Chipset: Intel H110 Processor speed: 3.4 GHz Processor family: 6th Generation Intel® Core™ i7 processor Processor: Intel® Core™ i7-6700 (3.4 GHz, up to 4 GHz, 8 MB cache, 4 cores) Hard drive: 128 GB SATA SSD Hard drive (2nd): 2 TB 5400 rpm SATA Graphics: Intel® HD Graphics 530 Graphics: Integrated Network interface: Integrated 10/100/1000 Gigabit Ethernet LAN Wireless: 802.11a/b/g/n/ac (1x1) and Bluetooth® 4.0 combo Ports1 USB 2.0 1 headphone/microphone combo 2 USB 2.0 4 USB 3.0 1 audio in 1 audio out 1 microphone in Expansion slots: 1 PCIe x1 1 PCIe x16 1 M.2 Memory: 8 GB DDR3L-1600 SDRAM (2 x 4 GB) Memory slots: 2 DIMM Memory and storage: 8 GB memory 2 TB HDD storage 128 GB SSD storage http://store.hp.com/UKStore/Merch/Product.aspx?id=Y6V31EA&opt=ABU&sel=DTP or http://store.hp.com/UKStore/Merch/Product.aspx?id=Y4K56EA&opt=ABU&sel=DTP
  3. What do you think, what kind of FPS I will gain from upgrading from FX-8350 to i5-7600K? I have a GTX 770 video card. With PMDG 737, Orbx etc.
  4. Does P3D v4 support octa core or hex core process as well as quad core cpu? I am currently using the i7 7700k, which is a 4 core 8 thread. However, if p3d supports Octa Core process , I'll purchase an 8 core 16 thread, the Rizen 1700x. I would like to hear advice from those who have used Hex Core or Octa Core in p3d. Thanks.
  5. Hey guys! I'm planning on buying a new computer, partly for Prepar3d (v2.5, going to be upgraded). I was thinking about following components, as I'm still on a certain budget: - Intel i7 6700K - Asus Z170-K Mainboard - GeForce GTX 960 4GB - 250 GB Samsung SSD - 1 TB Hard Drive - 600W PSU - Water Cooling. Cost: €1100. My main concerns are the GPU and the mainboard. I want to play P3d with addons like the Aerosoft A318/319 or A2A GA Aircraft on high settings with at least 30 pfs, among that I will also use the PC for CAD work, video editing and music production. Therefor the question: Should I invest in like a GTX970 (which is even older than the 960) or even the Radeon RX 480? And is the mainboard capable of handling it all? Also: Is 600 Watts enough power for the system? Thanks in advance for your help! Kris
  6. Hello everyone, I wonder if I could get somebody's opinion on something. I was looking at getting the intel i7 6700k cpu to upgrade my desktop which is now extremely old and really struggles running fsx even on low settings. The problem is the i7 6700k is quite expensive and I can't find it bundled with a motherboard and don't really feel like having to attach it myself and having to find the right motherboard. However I managed to find a upgrade kit which includes the intel i7 6700 already on a motherboard which also comes with 8gb of ddr4 ram. I was wondering how well the i7 6700 can run fsx with addon aircraft such as Pmdg and Aerosoft and addon scenery such as UK2000 and Aerosoft? I am not too worried about having tons of autogen and I am mostly looking for around 30fps at least, would this cpu be able to do this? Bailey
  7. Hi guys, In the next few days i am going to gradually buy new hardware for FSX. I'm currently running... AMD FX6300 @4.4ghz Nvidia GTX 960 2GB 1TB HDD 16GB DDR3 @1800mhz. The new build will be... Intel i7 6700K Asus Z170 Pro gaming Corsair Vengeance LPX 16 GB DDR4 3000 MHz CL15 XMP. GTX 960 2GB I am thinking of getting an SSD for FSX steam but have a few questios. 1) what benefits does an SSD have in FSX steam? 2) is it easy to transfer windows 10 to my new PC? 3) I have well over 20GB add ons for fsx on my hdd, can i transfer them over or will i have to re download them all? 4) Because I have FSX steam does that mean I have to reinstall steam and FSX onto the SSD? 5) final question ... I run UT2 at 35% and Fly UK traffic at 20% along with ORBX regions, 737 NGX, PMDG 777, Aerosoft EGLL and captain sims 757 and 767. Im not expecting to get 100fps with these add ons but would the new hardware come close to giving me a smooth flight? especially from EGLL? Its not 4am... lol, I think ive googled everything i can but still cant find the answers hoping someone can help.
  8. Hi guys! Finally I am going to buy my first real gaming PC. It will be used for P3D but also for classic gaming replacing my Xbox. I think an i5 would be a good compromise between price and performance. So what do you think about thid build? - Intel i5 8600K 3.6Ghz Coffee Lake 1151 Processor -Msi Z370 A-PRO 1151 Motherboard -Nvidia GTX 1070 8GB. I found a good price on the ASUS Strix and on the MSI Armor. What's the better choice? -16GB DDR4 G.Skill 3200MHz Ram. -Samsung 850 EVO 500GB SSD -Noctua NH-U9S Cpu cooler -Corsair rm650i 80 Plus Gold PSU -NZXT H440 Case About the monitor I was not sure if buy a 1080p 144hz one or a 1440p 60hz one. Fabrizio
  9. I'm hoping to build the following PC and just need some advice to see if this can handle fsx and my add one. Intel i7 6700K @ 4.0ghz (hopefully will overclock) Nvidia GTX 960 2GB (bought last month) Seagate 1TB HDD (will be buying Samsung SSD) Corsair Vengance 16GB DDR4 ram @ 3000mhz (CL15) Asus Z170-P motherboard Corsair 600W PSU (bought last month) My add ons will be ORBX Global/vector/openLC PMDG 737/777 Aerosoft Airbus/EGLL UK2000 airports REX
  10. Hello dear avsimmers I built my pc 5 years ago. The specs are Core i3 2120 1155p , 2x4GB DDR3 1333mhz Ram , Radeon HD6670 2gigs 128bit graphics , Gigabyte H61 MA-D3V mobo. I'm bored of compromising performance for graphics and vice versa and want to make some significant changes to run the P3D or FSX-SE smoothly with decent graphics. Here, I'm able to find used i7 2600k or 3770k in good condition as the mobo is 1155p and thinking about putting a GTX 1060 inside. But I'm pretty much concerned about the mobo as it's old and not sure if it could run these hardware consistently. and i know that it's like impossible to make a stable cpu overlock on a H61 chipset motherboard. So , should i go for it without worries or keep saving money to build an entire new setup which will take a long time tbh. And i need precise answers about the performance of AMD products for flight simulators especially P3D. Thanks in advance
  11. I am buying a PC with a GTX 745 (4GB) graphics card and have the option for an i7 or an i5. Computer 1.) The core i5-7400 runs at 3GHz Computer 2.) The core i7-6700 runs at 3.4GHz with up to 4GHz with turbo-boost The computer with an i5 is obviously a lot cheaper and also has the option of a 128gb ssd to load the OS onto. The i7 is alot more expensive and is on the boundary of my budget for a new PC Which computer config would yield better FPS on FSX/P3D and X-plane? I do intend to use all three simulators with some addons such as aerosoft airbus aircraft REX, heathrow scenery e.t.c (FSX will be run at 1280x720 resolution FYI)
  12. I have two pcs (and two licenses per EULA of Lockheed Martin), both have a GTX1080, but one is an i7 7700k running at stock speeds (the cooling is not so good, so I cannot count on turbo boost all the time), and the other is a Ryzen 7 1700+ OC @3.9Ghz (from the original 3.4Ghz). Comparing the two machines: 1 - i7 7700k have some edge on FPS, +10% give or take, +20% if the ryzen is kept at stock speeds 2 - Ryzen 7 have ZERO problem when it comes to loading the scenery, everything is very crisp, the intel machine have some trouble there occasionally 3 - Both systems have terrible performance at night (the know Dynamic Light resource hog), but in daytime, the GPU is chilling at 35~40%, not even doing any effort. It seems like that a 1070 or even 1060 with a heavily overclocked CPU will do the job better than my current setup... 4 - Both systems can keep 30FPS when in the air, at 8000ft AGL give or take My issue is framerate on the ground, sometimes goes under 20fps on the ryzen machine, and the taxiway signs become difficult to read at low fps, my question for the folks that had understood that p3d is dependent on CPU/SingleThread performance is: A 7700k or even a 8700k OC @4.8Ghz, maybe 5.0, will be enough to keep 25fps daytime everywhere? (The exception being maybe Heathrow :P) I need the multithread performance for other workloads that my Ryzen machine have to perform during the day, but I'm considering trading it for a 8700k+z370 and OC the hell out of it with my Noctua U14S :P Sounds like a good plan? Also, the PMDG seems to be very heavy on FPS only in VC. The outside cameras don't struggle that much, other airliners (like FSLabs A320) are just as heavy? [Update] Forgot to say the resolution: 3440x1440 - UltraWide - 2.5K
  13. just wondering who is running on more than 4 cores and what the results are since I'm making a list of parts for my new build ... share your results thanks in advance ...
