  1. Hello, I recently purchased an EVGA GTX 1050TI 4GB. I went to run fsx after doing some tweaking and installing and a few restarts and did a connected flight deck in the aerosoft airbus A320. I was getting around 12-20 frames at Gatwick with UK2000 and ORBX global. We flew down to GCLP and my frames were around 12-20 for the whole flight. My friend on the other hand was getting 30-40 with FTX Open LC europe and REX4 textures UK2000 EGKK with integrated graphics however he has an I5 4690K processor but no graphics card. We both looked at each others settings in the cruise and I set mine the same as his and I was getting the same frames. The frames stayed the same even if I turned all my settings up. This morning we loaded up at Gatwick in the A319 to fly over to LEBL. This time I am getting 2-10 frames. Specs: GTX1050TI 4GB, Processor intel pentium E6000, 4GB RAM, 1GB Motherboard PLGA775, 500W Power supply and 500GB hardrive (I have used about 300GB) please help! Harry
  2. I just built a new machine for Xplane and P3d. Now want to upgrade from my GTX770 to a better GPU. Should i take the TitanX or the GTX 980Ti? Is the TitanX worthe the 300€+?
  3. Hi all, I'm looking to buy a new PC to get a better simming experience using Prepar3d V3 and the usual add-ons (PMDG aircraft, OrbX scenery,REX Soft Clouds, Active sky Next and airport scenery). I am thinking of buying a PC with these specs: Geforce GTX 750 TI GPU I5 4690K CPU 8GB DDR3 RAM 500 GB Sata2 Harddisk Gigabyte H81M Motherboard 550 Watt PSU Cooler master 342 Case (I'm not able to overclock because my dad doesn't allow it) This is pretty much the limit of my budget (because I'm only 15). Do you think this is the best I can get for my budget or do I need to downgrade something to upgrade something else? I hope you can help me. Best wishes, Bart
  4. Okay so I've been having serious stutter issues for the past week or so. When flying with any type of clouds my frames would drop considerably. I am using both REX 4 and ASN so i tried turning the settings down for both of them. Nothing changed. Today I installed Nvidia Driver 353.30 as a clean install and deleted my P3D shaders folder. I went and started up a flight at Taxi2Gate KMCO with the QW757 and active sky next weather running. My frames went from 27-31 when sitting on the ground to 48-55 while sitting on the ground and went from around 16-23 fps with massive stutters while flying through or looking at big clouds to not losing any fps. This was just a post to help anyone else having similar problems or people who would maybe like to see fps out of there sim. I'm using P3D v3.1 by the way.
  5. In December I bought the GTX970 graphics card from msi. Ever since I bought it after a while my monitor would go black and then come back with a message saying display driver has stopped responding and successfully recovered causing my fsx to black screen then crash. I have downloaded all the correct and up to date drivers for the graphics card from the Nvidia website. It keeps happening, please help!
  6. Hi, I changed my NVIDIA 780 ti for an 1080 ti this week and I dont have expected result I have around the same 25 fps and sometime my FSX crash with the message to ask to change my resolution and setup. I use the setting required by orbx for their sceneries :Here my FSX and addons : Level of detail radius :Large Global texture resolution: Max Mesh complexity 100 Mesh resolution 5m Scenery complexity Extremely Dense Autogen density Normal GA AI traffic 16-50% Road vehicle traffic 16% Simulator: FSX Service Pack 2, A lot of Orbx sceneries and more than 1000 addons, DX10Controller, AS16+ASA, EvenText, UT2m etc CPU: I7 4790K, GPU: NVIDIA 1080 ti, Motherboard: ASUS Maximus VII Hero, Thrusmaster Hotas X, AMD RAm : 2X8 2133 Im up to date with driver 382.05 I tried to overclock my card with EVGA Precision XOC 6.1 but not big change with FSX FPS Someone have an idea to config my card or conflict that I can have with my hardware? Thanks in advance for your help Pierre
  7. Hi guys, In the next few days i am going to gradually buy new hardware for FSX. I'm currently running... AMD FX6300 @4.4ghz Nvidia GTX 960 2GB 1TB HDD 16GB DDR3 @1800mhz. The new build will be... Intel i7 6700K Asus Z170 Pro gaming Corsair Vengeance LPX 16 GB DDR4 3000 MHz CL15 XMP. GTX 960 2GB I am thinking of getting an SSD for FSX steam but have a few questios. 1) what benefits does an SSD have in FSX steam? 2) is it easy to transfer windows 10 to my new PC? 3) I have well over 20GB add ons for fsx on my hdd, can i transfer them over or will i have to re download them all? 4) Because I have FSX steam does that mean I have to reinstall steam and FSX onto the SSD? 5) final question ... I run UT2 at 35% and Fly UK traffic at 20% along with ORBX regions, 737 NGX, PMDG 777, Aerosoft EGLL and captain sims 757 and 767. Im not expecting to get 100fps with these add ons but would the new hardware come close to giving me a smooth flight? especially from EGLL? Its not 4am... lol, I think ive googled everything i can but still cant find the answers hoping someone can help.
  8. Hey guys! I'm planning on buying a new computer, partly for Prepar3d (v2.5, going to be upgraded). I was thinking about following components, as I'm still on a certain budget: - Intel i7 6700K - Asus Z170-K Mainboard - GeForce GTX 960 4GB - 250 GB Samsung SSD - 1 TB Hard Drive - 600W PSU - Water Cooling. Cost: €1100. My main concerns are the GPU and the mainboard. I want to play P3d with addons like the Aerosoft A318/319 or A2A GA Aircraft on high settings with at least 30 pfs, among that I will also use the PC for CAD work, video editing and music production. Therefor the question: Should I invest in like a GTX970 (which is even older than the 960) or even the Radeon RX 480? And is the mainboard capable of handling it all? Also: Is 600 Watts enough power for the system? Thanks in advance for your help! Kris
  9. I asked this in the P3D forum as well but I was wondering if anyone had any info on whether there will be Nvidia 3D Vision support for P3D v.3? Thanks in advance
  10. Hello, I have a bit of an issue with my FSX:SE and I hope someone can help me with it. So basically I'm trying to override FSX:SE Filtering and Anti-Aliasing settings using nVidia Inspector as described here http://www.avsim.com/topic/324786-nvidia-configuration-guide-inspector-2xxxx-drivers-version-20-explanations-of-all-settings/ However I'm not sure if the settings are being applied correctly or not. The reasons why I think the settings are being applied is because when I set the frame limiter to 30.5 it works. But when I set the Anisotropic filtering using nVidia Inspector and turn it off in FSX there is no filtering happening. Here is a picture of my nVidia Inspector settings and here is my FSX settings and here is a picture from inside FSX It is clear than no kind of filtering was done, and to my understanding that FSX settings should be overwritten. Hope some knows the solution to this. Thanks in advance.
  11. Pretty much what the title says. Is Nick N's guide still applicable to I7-6700K processors and GTX 970 cards? mslim
  12. Anyone had CTD in X-Plane recently with this driver?
  13. For those of you observing the Vas leak on latest drivers I can confirm after some testing that the issue looks resolved with 378.72 hotfix. I think also there is a little improving on fps on my side!
  14. Anyone know if it's worth the upgrade from a AMD r9 380 4gb to a ASUS ROG STRIX 1060 6gb, Not sure whether it's worth the £300 cost? Anyone help would be appreciated :)
  15. Ok, i'm going to dive in and try them tonight (with XP10.45, my P3d is under reconstruction), as the last set from Nvidia were decent on my system. You know where to get it!
  16. Hello I've been having problems recently with P3D (you can read my other topics if you wish!) related to textures in P3D. My specs are: I7 CPU @ 4.0GHz (OC to approx. 4c3GHz) GTX 960 2gb 8gb RAM The add on sceneries I have loaded into P3D are UK2000 EGKK and the freeware Hamilton Island from Ant's Aussie Airports. The former is a nightmare to fly in an out because the shimmering is extremely severe and is extremely distracting. I fly a lot on Vatsim and I don't want Gatwick to be left alone by me as it is the best covered airport in the UK. I have sought help in these forums and we have come to the conclusion that it is either because of the lack of mip maps in these scenery or because of my GPU settings. The Hamilton Island airport is really good apart from a few bits of shimmering where I think anti-aliasing is not properly configured. I've looked for ages for a good guide to the best GPU settings for P3D v3 but all of them are linked to FSX and go into so much detail which I don't think is required for me. I used to use FSX, but on a completely different PC and this new PC just has P3D on it. My graphics card seems to be alright as I can hit 60 fps continuously at payware EGKK with cockpit shadows. I ultimately aim to purchase AS's A320, a good load of payware airports and Active Sky Next. REX and ORBX stuff can probably wait as I am not looking for complete perfection in my sim, I just want realistic Vatsim flying with airports and aircraft that can deliver a good enough quality to my sim. To cut a long story short, could anyone outline what I need on or off or different amounts in the Nvidia Control Panel. I've looked at it a lot but haven't dare to touch it afraid of messing it all up. I've messed around with p3d graphic settings and found out that increasing the texturing filtering form its normal 8x introduces a small amount of stutters to the sim. I moved my texture resolution from its default 1k to 2k and seen no performance hit. FXAA is set to on and MSAA is at 8x. I could get a screenshot of my Nvidia Control Panel if you want but for now I hope that is enough for you extremely clever people to help. I know these forums are the best to go to because of their member's experience. Thanks so much Fraser Barnes
  17. If you're using nVidia Inspector, you can now get Antialiasing (AA) in full-screen mode in older games such as FS2004 and FSX in Windows 10: (From the A2A Simulations forum, posted by molleh) Towards the top of the profile settings in your nVidia Inspector profile you will see a setting called "Antialiasing compatibility." Set that to "0x004412C1 (Diablo III)" and it should work again. Apparently many other games that run in exclusive fullscreen mode require a similar change to the antialiasing compatibility flag to have the profile settings stick like they should. In the Fall Creators Update, MS changed how fullscreen rendering works - for example, you can disable Vsync now in a borderless windowed app (such as Prepar3D!) which wasn't actually possible before because of the desktop compositor which basically forced Vsync. Apparently this new functionality wasn't tested very well on older apps/games.
  18. Hello all, During my early first SLI test with Prepar3D (remember the AFR-FriendlyD3D trick),several simmers notice that the GPU load never get higher than roughly 50%. A kind of 50/50 GPU load situation. Not that much efficient for a SLI configuration. I don't know since when*, but I noticed this last days that my PC case was warmer than ever (and I clean fan and other stuff inside regularly). Launching EVGA PrecisionX 16, I can note that each GPU gets far higher than 50% (very often close to 80% depending on scenery load obviously). * I just have update my nvidia driver (yes, I like to test stuff) to 361.91. I guess previously driver was the one downloaded and installed late december last year. Did I set something without knowledge and activate a better GPU split/load when SLI enable or is that a driver/P3D SLI Profile that brings better performance ?
  19. Hi AVSIM members. Nu-be to this site. If posting in the wrong area please advise and I shall do my best to adjust. I have always wanted to build a flight simulator. Tried and failed. This will be my third attempt. Have all the parts required for a PC to run FSX, this will include a projection of the screen via a 5000 lumen unit onto a flexible curved screen. Have started the motion platform and have motors and control board ready to go 3 DOF motion. Anyway onto the problem I have, I dare say this topic has been discussed before so if anyone can suggest links then please do so. I Have two graphics cards ASUS NVidia GTX 790 linked via motherboard and connection link ribbon. NVidia drivers up to date and running NVidia inspector with a few tweaks. Card No1 in the PCI-E slot marked x16 on the MB as the main driver and the second card in the second PCI-E slot marked x2 on the MB as GPU support for the first card. Running NVidia inspector shows GPU card No1 at around 80% usage when flying over EGHH airport frame rate around 45-59 FPS. CPU is an intel I7 3.6 GHz overclocked to 3.9 GHz on air cooling at a temp of 94d. The second GPU card No2 via inspector shows it running at 0% usage. I know from reading forum posts that FSX runs better from faster CPUs and GPU not used so much. Question being am I using both graphics cards to display FSX in PhysX mode connected to a Matrox tripplehead2go via DVI cable to HDMI. or am I only running off one card. Also because one of the cards is in a PCIE slot marked x2 am I throttling card No1 to the lower slot speed. Even though the performance is good I wander if it could be improved. Thank you in advance IanMC
  20. FYI - I updated my GTX 970 GeForce driver yesterday to the ver: 361.43 released 12/21/2015 and FSX (boxed on Win 8.1 on a high end 4790K PC) won't start and the whole CPU freezes up on the splash screen. I rolled back to ver: 359.06 released 12/01/2015 and all is back to normal. Bruce
  21. I am still learning my way around the NVIDIA GeForce GTX 980. How do I go about uninstalling old drivers?
  22. Hello and Good Morning, this is the first time I post something like this on Avsim, It concerns a problem that I have been unable to solve since 6 months. The problem is that, between May and June I had the sim running with a good AA setting (8xS), it happened after 2 years of not knowing how to handle Nvidia Inspector (I didn't had the time to investigate) and achieved it by using NickN's guide. After 3 weeks of flawless simming, I encountered the well feared BSOD's and it took me to the point of reinstalling the Drivers, of course such action ruined everything and I was unable to achieve the previous settings, even took screenshots of the settings I had when that "sweet point" was present. Ultimately I decided to reinstall Windows 7 completely and while I got rid of the BSOD's I am still unable to have it working properly. I have tried several different Drivers from Nvidia, I will not joke to say that, I must have tried more than 20 different ones with none of them really achieving the results expected. Yes the DDU software is being used to clean and uninstall the drivers every time they are tried, I have been very cautious on that matter, have read endless guides in different languages... English, Russian, French, German etc.... but no luck. The only thing that seems to make a difference in appearance and performance is, if I use the profile file (NIP file) of somebody else, it does make a change, sometimes better or worse, I have no bloody idea why it does that . The current issues I notice are this: 1 Aliasing not working properly, (to achieve some thing close to the perfect 8xS, now I need to use 16xS and still it shows jaggies) 2 I fly in windowed mode, however if I make the windows smaller in size the FPS will remain at 60, no matter how heavy and demanding the software is. 3 I am aware my monitor could be playing part in this mess, just I do not know if it is really related to this problem. 4 I remember that Nvidia Inspector had a lot more "Settings" than just the current ones, the one I used for 2 years before I decided to meddle with this was, Super VCAA 32x. I have not seen that setting anymore in the AA mode options, not even in older drives as they should be. 5 For some reason, both the ground scenery and aircraft show not just jaggies but, something like vertical stretching. I have no idea how to explain it, sorry just It does not look right. My specs are this: Windows 7 64 SP1 AMD FX-6100 3.30 GHZ 8 GB RAM Gigabyte GA-970A-UD3 motherboard EVGA GTX560Ti 2GB Samsung Syncmaster 2243NW monitor (1680x1050) Anybody who can fix this mess PERMANENTLY, will receive a small reward for their help, I cannot give anything else considering some of you will be spending your time and this season is tight for most of you. Best Regards. Ed.
  23. Hi I have a sim with 3 monitors at the front, which are currently set up terribly through X-Plane's networked external visuals. I'm considering buying a GTX970 for my sim computer, which would allow me to switch to P3D, and could handle a whole lot of monitors. I've read about Nvidia surround which would probably make setting it up really easy, but the only thing is, all three monitors are different. (they're aligned at the bottom if that helps). Is there any (fairly simple) way that I could set P3D up so that I had all of the front screens off that one graphics card? Thanks -jamang1999
  24. Hi guys, For a couple of weeks now I have noticed that the simulator started to stutter; micro stutters (some sort of a quick back and forward movement) and somehow it is related with the audio (I guess). If I am listening to some music or YouTube videos while running FSX, they will audio-sttuter as well. First I thought it was caused by Active Sky Next, but after making a couple of tests I discovered that ASN was not the problem, so I updated the drivers of the graphics card, disabled the antivirus, lowered the sim to the minimum settings and modified the FSX.cfg (Affinity Mask, Bufferpools, etc.) without success. After testing various configurations with Nvidia Inspector without success I decided to restore the PC to factory state. When I finished installing the simulator according to Nick's Bible, to my surprise, the problem was still there. I'm truly desperate as I don't know what else to do. The computer is fairly new (December) and never had a problem... until now. I'm posting my problem here hoping someone can help me or guide me a bit on this issue. PC specs. are the following. · FSX (SP2). · W7 Professional (64 bit). · Nvidia GeForce GTX 760 Ti OEM · i7-4790 @ 3.60 ·16 GB RAM. Thanks in advance, Andrés.
