  1. Hello, I recently bought a GTX 970 4GB graphics card for my PC as previously I didnt have a graphics card. My current PC specs are; GeForce GTX 970 Intel Core i5-4690k CPU 3.5ghz 8.00GB RAM Microsoft Windows 7 Home Premium But I loaded up at EGCC on fsx it was overcast and I was using rex soft clouds and my weather settings were on detailed clouds and maximum cloud coverage but when I look at the clouds I went from locked 30 which I have it set as to 10-12 frames. Addons I was using were, UK2000 EGCC, FTX EU England, ORBX global, ASNext, REX Soft clouds, Precipit FX, Aerosoft Airbus A320/A321 Please help!
  2. Haven't seen a post on it so I thought I'd let you all know. http://www.nvidia.com/download/driverResults.aspx/99196/en-us
  3. I noticed some differences between the SimTweak FSX NI profile settings and those recommended by NickN in his FSX setup guide - scroll to section 2 (his guide is based on older Nvidia drivers, I am running v347.25). NI profile differences - SimTweak in blue, NickN in red: Antialiasing Antialiasing - Setting = 4x [4x MS] = 8xS [Combined: 1x2 SS + 4x MS] Antialiasing - Transparency Supersampling = 4x SGSS = 2x SGSS / Off (NickN doesn't seem to be a fan of SGSS!) NVIDIA Predefined FXAA Usage = Disallowed = Allowed Filtering Texture filtering - Driver Controlled LOD Bias = Off = ? Texture filtering - LOD Bias = -1.5000 = 0.000 Texture filtering - Negative LOD Bias = Allow = Clamp Common Vertical Sync = Use the 3D application setting = 1/2 Refresh Rate Q1) I do not fully understand what all these graphics driver settings actually do! However I had always assumed that for FSX (and FS9) the recommended antialiasing setting would be either 8xS or 8xSQ and that negative LOD bias should always be set to clamp when using anisotropic filtering because the textures are already being sharpened? Q2) How was the value of LOD Bias [DX] = -1.5000 determined?
  4. What graphic settings would you recommend for me with a GeForce GTX 650 with overdrive? I want to get the most out of the graphics card, but also don't want lag.

  6. Hi All, Can't believe I've just discovered the C337, came on it by accident after a less-than-impressed experience with the new Carenado 206, and have to agree its a really beautiful bird - great dynamics, immersive cockpit and friendly framerates to boot. I did see that there's a fix from Bert Pieke for the "Com" mislabel on the panel though, PM'd Bert to get it but perhaps he's not as active on the forums these days. I was wondering if anyone might have the "Nav" texture fix they could eMail to me? My address is joeldelman@mac.com Thanks in advance, much appreciated! Best, Joel
  7. FSX with DX9 doesn't work properly. Every aircraft has the same problem. I only have these graphics problems with DX9. Please take a look: http://youtu.be/gm78fleFq1s Everything was ok and it changed some day. FSX with DX10 runs well, but I get less frame rates and I want to keep my FSX with DX9. Specs: i7 3770K @ 4.5GHz Cooled by the Corsair H110 Asrock Z77 OC Formula Gigabyte HD 7970 @ 1080 Mhz 16GB Corsair Dominator Platinum 8-8-8-24 Corsair 1050 W Power Supply W7 64 bits Pro Thanks for your help
  8. Maybe someone can enlight me here. I have no complains about the graphics on my old gtx 460. I have settings on high and sometimes maximum. And everything looks fine to me. But now i have the new 304 (beta)driver for my videocard installed. That has the new FXAA antialias setting in it. Anyone who has experience with that en what are the best settings? Now i have ingame setting high and in the driver enhaced application setting-FXAA-2x. Someone any ideas about this? Should i turn ingame setting off when using driver settings? Framerate is 30 or 60 with vsync on. btw that driver has also adaptive vsync. What must give less stutter. My experience is that it give more tearing at low fps. Maybe someone has good setting for that too.
  9. Hi y'all,This is my first post here on Avsim, so hi! I'm wondering which will give me better performance in FSX; the Sparkle GeForce GT430, or the GTX580. The GT430 has much more memory, at 4GB, which is a lot, but it only has 96 stream processors, and a 128-bit interface. The GTX580 I have open in another window (which is just a random 580, not necessarily the one I'll get), has 512 streamers, and a 384-bit interface. The question is, will the stream processors and interface help FSX performance, or is mainly just the memory? Here's the links to the products;GT430 - http://www.newegg.co...N82E16814187173GTX580 - http://www.newegg.co...N82E16814130587The Core Clock, and Shader Clock are about the same in both.
  10. Hi all, I would like to share with all of you this new must have (in my humble opinion). It's a little utility that allows you changing the whole FSX's world illumination, shadowing and fog for all TOD (Time Of Day). It's awesome!! Watch this vid to see the environment's enhancement. Cheers!
  11. Hi all. Has anyone experienced problems in Fsx Steam changing backwards and forwards between full and windowed mode using the alt/enter keys. I never did until recently. This problem appears to have started around the time that I changed back from Dx10 to dx9 after using Steve's fixer. I also updated my Nvidia graphics driver at that time. I have discussed this with Steve who assures me that his fixer shouldn't cause the issue and am currently in the process of trying an earlier driver to see what happens. Basically what is happening is that my vc cockpit will disappear or only leave sections of it showing. Externally, I get a flying cockpit and a pair of wings. Sometimes the entire aircraft disappears inside and out. The worse case scenario is all of the above plus a black or black/white horizon from which there is no recovery. I can still hear the sim running but can't see a thing. Usually Esc will get me back to the main screen where I'll see a twirling black aircraft with bits missing that looks like it's been in a fire lol. If I'm careful and use the onscreen menus instead of the keys then I can manage to fly mostly. It just seems that physically using thr keyboard makes it worse. I use PMDG aircraft but have experimented with stock aircraft also. I've tried starting with a fresh fsx.cfg file as well. I suspected Ezca might be the culprit so reinstalled that also. i haven't got the fastest setup in the world and up to now it's been fine so I don't think it's my specs. I'm running Windows 7 64bit with I7 sandy bridge 3.4ghz and nvidia geoforce 950 card. Any suggestions/ comments would be appreciated. Thanks, Mike
  12. Hi, I have recently noticed that my graphics and frame rate have decreased. I did not install any new addons, update fsx, or even do anything different on my pc! One night, my graphics and fps were good (as usual), but I shut down my pc, and the next day when I powered on my pc and loaded fsx, I had lost at least 10 fps, and the textures in FTX Global had a noticeably lower resolution, and there were pop-ins EVERYWHERE! Does anyone know what is going on? Thanks. Pictures: http://imgur.com/a/ZXBs7 UPDATE: The only thing that changed between when I had good fps+graphics to bad fps+graphics was that vPilot came out with an update, which I didnt install.
  13. Hello avsim! Yes I'm very new to all of this. But from the time I loaded FSX onto my computer, I was hooked! Now before you judge the title... yes I know there have been thousands of topics on this but, please listen to what I have to say. I purchased a MacBook Pro last fall, before school started, it's my baby! I purchased the 13-inch model for portability, and processor speed. Before I go any further here are the specs: 13-inch (Early 2011) MacBook Pro 2nd Generation Intel CORE i7 dual core (four virtual cores) processor 2.7GHz-3.4GHz max turbo dependant upon active cores (i7-2620M) Intel HD 3000 Graphics Processor (on CPU chip) 500GB HDD @5400 RPM (partitioned in half for Mac OS X, and windows) I have Windows 7 Home Premium 64-Bit installed in a 250GB BootCamp partition. Now to my question. I love using the PMDG 737 NGX, right now I have the high-res textures installed in the VC, and I'm getting 11-12 fps at Fly Tampa's Tampa Rebooted add-on scenery. Outside the VC in spot view I get 25-30fps. I have learned that I can install an external GPU via a Thunderbolt port (Lightpeak). If I were to install a Nvidia GTX 570, and overclock it, plus add 4GB-8GB more RAM, and possibly an SSD, would I see significant improvement in fps? I would not be running REX, or anything else, just the NGX, and add-on airports. I realize my current GPU is not the best, but my processor does fairly well, and with everything but the CPU replaceable, I'm stuck with it, and no way to overclock it. I would even be willing to opt for the 580, or 590 if it would guarantee me more fps. This is getting long... wow. I'm just looking to increase my fps to 20+ in the NGX's VC. The only thing I cannot change is my CPU, or its speed. Please help, all post are greatly appreciated, thank you! I also wish to use an external monitor. Any suggestions would be greatly appreciated!
  14. Hi Sorry if i am in the wrong forum but this seemed to be the right place. I have just started to get some graphics problems with my fsx its not CTD but it might as well be. I have been running fsx on this machine for over a year with a ton of add-ons with no problems. last weekend I set off on a flight and as usual I am going in and out of full screen to see if I need to speak to ATC etc. & bang !!. black sky with smuged grownd textures but nothing els no plane no buildings just nothing, this is new I thought & since then its going down hill so I could really do with some help. The symptoms start if I do anything to temporarily get a black screen like setting crash detection on in realism & clicking OK, while i am doing all that the fsx window is blacked out ( normal ) but after OK is clicked to get back into the sim with the new setting all the graphics are messed up please see photos./I have tried installing the drivers that came this the graphics card I have also swiped the OS with a anti virus ( & did find some nasty s I caught recently but now I am clean ). tonight I thought I had it sorted but I went to windowed mode to start active sky next as I forgot Again & when I went back to full screen it blows up again, I am pulling all the OS updates out from the last month to see if that helps if not I will be forced into a full OS reinstall. Any help would be greatly appreciated thanks Tim specs OS windows 7 64 bit MOBO asus sabertooth x79 walter cooled CPU intel i7 3820 HD segate 1tb win os disk HD samsung ssd 840 evo 120gb for xplane HD samsung ssd 60 gb for fsx memory 16gb quad G skill f3 14900cl9 asus geforce gtx 680 2gb i cant show a screen shot the forum wont let me ? But i have uploaded a short video to youtube here is the link, i know it looks like i am going from windowed to full screen a lot, but some times it will only take one go and it'l do it. the vid shows the problem at 2:40 https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=oLtvvMafRfE&feature=youtu.be Thanks
  15. Hi everyone, I think this is probably the first time I've actually posted on the avsim forums, despite having been a member for several years! Anyway, I'm really hoping that someone may be able to help with some ideas, or even better a solution to my problem, because it's driving me mad! Basically, in the last few days I've suddenly started having a problem with FSX that I've never had before - when I switch between full screen and windowed mode, or even when I minimise FSX and then open up the window again, or return to the main window after going into a menu item like Aircraft settings etc, I'm getting a variety of weird graphics glitches. The graphics oddities are wide ranging, and include the following: 1. completely black screen 2. scenery partly or completely disappears, leaving just ground visible 3. part of the virtual cockpit becomes invisible (usually the MCP and floor) 4. the FSX menu bar becomes invisible 5. The sky goes black, but clouds are still visible 6. The ground goes white, and the sky goes black I've never had this issue before. I'm running an EVGA GTX 780 card on a Windows 7 64bit system. This graphics issue happens both with the latest NVidia drivers, and the previous one. I'm also running a dual screen set up, but this problem occurs whether I have one or two screens set up. I have tried uninstalling the graphics drivers completely, and doing a complete clean reinstall. I've got the UIautomationcore.dll file in place, I'm also using an unmodified fsx.cfg file. Don't have ENB installed, and am not using DX10 in FSX. The machine is a core i7-4930k, overclocked to 4.4ghz, on an Asus Rampage Formula IV board, with 16gb of DDR3 so it's not a resource issue (I hope). Has anyone encountered similar issues? Is there a fix for this problem? I'd be really grateful for any advice - I really don't want to go through the pain of reinstalling FSX if I can avoid it! Appreciate any help, Tim
  16. In game my graphics all seem okay, however, in the Hanger (including in the background behind the core menu boxes) the graphics are wrong. It's as if they're being presented in some odd stereoscopic/3D display and I'm missing the glasses. For example, the step-ladder you can see several ghosted images of it in various colors as the image rotates. I also have clearly broken imagery as the CRJ is panned around where suddenly a cyan screen fills most of the screen and then proceeds to bleed from black downward for about 20 seconds before returning back to the distorted plane image. Is anyone else seeing this, and is there a known fix?
  17. Hi all, I hope I'm posting in right section. Problem with running FSX-SE. I have a good 6 month old Dell Aurora R5, i6700, 3.4 GZ, 3 monitor setup, GTX 1080ti, don't have exact specs in frt of me, but I had it built decent for FSX. Recently, I cannot get the clarity part of the graphics that good, that is my main complaint. I understand on 3 monitors I shouldn't expect the same clarity/resolution as single monitor. I have tried some reputable tweaks, both in fsx.cfg and in Nvidia. I have purchased Steves Direct10 which helped decent amount. The only way the picture seems clear is on the center screen with overhead view, looking down, only then does the ground scenery look clear, otherwise looking out to distance & to the sides it appears blurryish, almost like a painting. I even tried changing the cfg LOD setting from 4.50000 to 6.0000, but did not change anything. Other points- I have the inside FSX autogen & scenery set to sparse. 6 months ago I upgraded from the 1070 to the 1080ti, but in the fsx.cfg file there is old 1070 text/file there, not sure if that's an issue. Also, after loading FSX the main page which used to have advertised photos of Steam sales & things like that on it, is gone, its just red & black text. To clarify, the VC & the aircraft itself looks great, its just the ground scenery, looks like a water painting unless doing birds eye view from above. Not sure what to do. I've read about deleting everything & then reinstalling, but I'm worried about loosing Direct10 & my Orbx. Any help I'll appreciate, Wish there were FSX field agents in every town that did house calls lol. Thanks very much.
  18. Hi fellow simmers  I am new to forums so don't really know if i am posting this in the correct place or not so please let me know. I'm wondering if any of you can help me in finding out what kind of graphics card/hardware i need in order to achieve a really good realistic flight simulator... I've been looking online recently and have seen that people have got extremely good graphics even when at mega airports I struggle at the moment to get good FPS when at LHR (EGLL) even when my setting are extremely low. I have updated my PC over the past couple of years but it still isn't great, what do you guys think i should look at purchasing next? My current specs are: Ram: 4.00GB AMD FX -4100 Quad Core Processor 3.60GHz 64 Bit Operating System NVIDIA GeForce GT640 Any ideas on what i can change so that i can get ultra realism? p.s im kinda looking for this kind of level: thanks for the help in advance !!
  19. Greetings! I am building a new PC. I have been away from Flight Sim for 3-4 years (pre Steam and pre p3d). My new build will be for FSX Steam, but I also do Photoshop and Video editing. I anticipate using FSX Steam, PDG 737, Orbix, Rex, most all of the goodies. I am guessing my system will be overkill for Flight Sim, but would like confirmation of that. I will be overclocking the CPU. This is my third build of a system. As I only build system every 4 years or so, I am going high end. I respect the contributors on AvSim and hope for some feedback. Thanks guys! 20. Hi, Really enjoying the DC-6 but the dust (or smoke?) animation from the wheels is almost comical. When I first saw an external camera of the plane taxiing or on a takeoff roll I thought the brakes were on fire. The effect is even there on hard surfaces and just as strong as what is seen if the plane is on gravel or dirt. I think all graphics on the plane are excellent otherwise. It's a shame that this "dust" effect IMO detracts from an otherwise great graphical presentation. Please PMDG, eliminate or at least greatly tone down the "dust". Ideally, the effect would be volume - speed sensitive and be minimal on hard surfaces, if shown at all. Thanks
  21. Hey Guys, I need some advice and help on a new computer build to run FSX: SE on maximum graphics or close to it. Please look at the parts that I plan on using to build the computer below: CPU Intel Core i7-4790K 4.0GHz Quad-Core CPU Cooler Cooler Master Hyper 212 EVO 82.9 CFM Sleeve Bearing Motherboard Gigabyte GA-Z97X-UD3H-BK ATX LGA1150 Memory G.Skill Ripjaws X Series 16GB (2 x 8GB) DDR3-1866 SSD Samsung 850 EVO-Series 250GB 2.5" SSD Storage Seagate Barracuda 1TB 3.5" 7200RPM Video Card Asus Radeon R9 270X 2GB DirectCU II Case Corsair 760T Black ATX Full Tower Power Supply SeaSonic 850W ATX12V / EPS12V Optical Drive Asus DRW-24B1ST/BLK/B/AS DVD/CD Writer Operating System Microsoft Windows 7 Home Premium SP1 (OEM) (64-bit) Sound Card Asus Xonar D1 Wireless Network Adapter Asus PCE-N53 802.11a/b/g/n PCI-Express x1
  22. Greetings everyone, I am writing this post in hope that FINALLY, someone will be able to assist me with this bug regarding FSX-SE... This is an odd one, was searching online for weeks in hope to find someone experiencing the same issue who found a solution or could help me, however, I had no luck... I was troubleshooting the issue myself for days, but nothing worked... What's even funnier is that this is a SECOND COMPLETELY DIFFERENT MACHINE on which I am experiencing this problem... So these are the systems: Machine #1 (my old desktop PC which I do not own anymore): CPU: AMD FX-8350 Black Edition RAM: Kingston 2×8GB DDR3 @1866 MHz GPU: VTX3D R9 270X 2GB DDR5 HDD: 1TB @7200rpm - installation drive of FSX OS: Windows 10 Pro 64-bit Machine #2 (my current Acer Nitro 5 AN515-43 Laptop): CPU: AMD Ryzen 5 3550H RAM: Kingston 2×8GB DDR4 @ 2400 MHz GPU: RX560X 4GB DDR5 SSD: 512GB M.2 NVM2 - installation drive of FSX OS: Windows 10 Pro 64-bit Both systems and their drivers were completely UP-TO-DATE when experiencing this issue. Now, this is what happens: At some airports that are located near the sea and at a height approximately the same as the sea level itself, I get a strange black patch/water textures that appear beneath me... Nowhere else in the distance, that is all fine, but just in a circle about 100 meters in diameter BENEATH THE PLAYER! The taxiways and runways are spared of this effect, its just the ground grass textures around me that look like that. The airports I currently experience this bugs are LIMJ Genoa (looks completely flooded, as if I landed on an aircraft carrier), LDZD Zadar (bug appears only partially until 1/2 of the runway length) and LDDU Dubrovnik (on approach towards RWY 11 as the terrain is rising from the sea, I get water beneath me as I slowly descend) - so here effect appears on textures that are not in the vicinity of the airfield, but rather on world textures. Strangely enough, I went to KJFK and test if this will happen there, as I know it's all surrounded by water, but nothing, no problems there even though it's graphically and CPU 10 times more intense than those other areas... Here are some other differences that might help: my machine #1 was running FSX-SE on DX9 and settings set on high, almost no major addons, just some freeware aircraft and world textures. My current machine #2 is running FSX-SE on DX10 with Steve's DX10 Fixer, ORBX Global Base, FreeMeshX and Aerosoft A320X... However on my first machine, under DX9, these textures were not replaced with water textures, but it was just black patch that was following me all around, even further than what's happening now... Here is the link to screenshots taken at LDZD, where you can see the problem just appears partially on the southern side of the airfield (at 1/2 of the runway length, no matter the altitude problem goes away), the patch follows me around, as you can see my initial position at the tower turns into the ground when I slew to to left, and if I taxi on the "water" itself, it detects it truly as water, not just texture replacement of the ground: https://postimg.cc/gallery/8MqPmFC When did I notice this problem? On my first machine, the problem appeared after I installed "World of AI" complete pack, and now on this machine after I installed "IVAO MTL" library... They are both pretty big (around 6 GB), and after installing it the FSX-SE takes about 5 minutes to launch the first time. Upon their removal, the launch is back to normal, but the problem persists... I do have edited fsx.cfg, however, this shouldn't be the issue as my last system didn't have it edited and on this system, I have been playing for almost half a year now with it edited, and the problem just appeared out of nowhere last week... I tried to edit the setting in Radeon Adrenaline Software, however, nothing helped... I deleted the shaders cache but even that had no effect to it... Strangely, if I replace an airport with an addon scenery of it, that has photoreal textures around it, the problem goes away (example of LDZD), so I assume it has something to do with scenery hierarchy or so... I truly have no idea at all... I don't know what is causing this strange issue, if somebody has any idea on how to fix this I would be extremely grateful 🙂 I wish you all a nice rest of the day, and take care 😉
  23. Hey, I was browsing youtube today and I came across this user's videos. He is in FlightSafety's full motion sim and wow the graphics look superb!!!!. First I thought it was photo scenery only with no 3D, but when he lands, I can see the buildings and airport etc. The graphics are amazing!!!! I wish current retail sim software can display this level of detail. What simulation software is FlightSafety using?
  24. Shortly after installing a new display driver, I opened FSX to find that the default resolution was set to 1024x768x32 instead of 1920x1080x16. When I checked the fsx.cfg file, I saw that there were two DISPLAY.Device entries, one towards the top and one towards the bottom. I check the "mode" variable for each and, sure enough, one was set to the lower resolution. I've tried deleting the new entry, setting the new entry to the higher res and deleting the old one, etc... but nothing seems to work, even deleting the .cfg file and letting FSX create a new one. Anybody know what's doing on?Edit: Also, the [Multiplayer] field keeps appearing beneath the new entry for whatever reason...
