  1. So.. development is further a long now - we’ve even got an idea about the requirements. what I am interested to know at the moment is how much support asobo is planning for variable rate shading and deep learning super sampling (Nvidia) after release. Both of these technologies would seem to work phenomenally with a flight simulator. Vrs works best when adjacent pixels are very similarly lit/coloured and with all the sky, ground and sea that will be filling our screens there could be a great increase in performance available for little to no difference in visuals. This also applies to Nvidia dlss, deep learning super sampling. The newest version is so good at what it does not only does it often offer a performance increase it also often looks better than the native resolution. Both of these technologies would seem to be a perfect fit for msfs. However both of these technologies require an up to date api and gpu (Turing/ampere or rdna2). So it’s obviously not something I expect for release but in the future? It seems like something you’d want to leverage, particularly considering how it would benefit a vr implementation. What’s everyone’s thoughts?
  2. Hi All, Can't believe I've just discovered the C337, came on it by accident after a less-than-impressed experience with the new Carenado 206, and have to agree its a really beautiful bird - great dynamics, immersive cockpit and friendly framerates to boot. I did see that there's a fix from Bert Pieke for the "Com" mislabel on the panel though, PM'd Bert to get it but perhaps he's not as active on the forums these days. I was wondering if anyone might have the "Nav" texture fix they could eMail to me? My address is joeldelman@mac.com Thanks in advance, much appreciated! Best, Joel
  3. Haven't seen a post on it so I thought I'd let you all know. http://www.nvidia.com/download/driverResults.aspx/99196/en-us
  4. Hello, I recently bought a GTX 970 4GB graphics card for my PC as previously I didnt have a graphics card. My current PC specs are; GeForce GTX 970 Intel Core i5-4690k CPU 3.5ghz 8.00GB RAM Microsoft Windows 7 Home Premium But I loaded up at EGCC on fsx it was overcast and I was using rex soft clouds and my weather settings were on detailed clouds and maximum cloud coverage but when I look at the clouds I went from locked 30 which I have it set as to 10-12 frames. Addons I was using were, UK2000 EGCC, FTX EU England, ORBX global, ASNext, REX Soft clouds, Precipit FX, Aerosoft Airbus A320/A321 Please help!
  5. Hi all. Has anyone experienced problems in Fsx Steam changing backwards and forwards between full and windowed mode using the alt/enter keys. I never did until recently. This problem appears to have started around the time that I changed back from Dx10 to dx9 after using Steve's fixer. I also updated my Nvidia graphics driver at that time. I have discussed this with Steve who assures me that his fixer shouldn't cause the issue and am currently in the process of trying an earlier driver to see what happens. Basically what is happening is that my vc cockpit will disappear or only leave sections of it showing. Externally, I get a flying cockpit and a pair of wings. Sometimes the entire aircraft disappears inside and out. The worse case scenario is all of the above plus a black or black/white horizon from which there is no recovery. I can still hear the sim running but can't see a thing. Usually Esc will get me back to the main screen where I'll see a twirling black aircraft with bits missing that looks like it's been in a fire lol. If I'm careful and use the onscreen menus instead of the keys then I can manage to fly mostly. It just seems that physically using thr keyboard makes it worse. I use PMDG aircraft but have experimented with stock aircraft also. I've tried starting with a fresh fsx.cfg file as well. I suspected Ezca might be the culprit so reinstalled that also. i haven't got the fastest setup in the world and up to now it's been fine so I don't think it's my specs. I'm running Windows 7 64bit with I7 sandy bridge 3.4ghz and nvidia geoforce 950 card. Any suggestions/ comments would be appreciated. Thanks, Mike
  6. Hi, I have recently noticed that my graphics and frame rate have decreased. I did not install any new addons, update fsx, or even do anything different on my pc! One night, my graphics and fps were good (as usual), but I shut down my pc, and the next day when I powered on my pc and loaded fsx, I had lost at least 10 fps, and the textures in FTX Global had a noticeably lower resolution, and there were pop-ins EVERYWHERE! Does anyone know what is going on? Thanks. Pictures: http://imgur.com/a/ZXBs7 UPDATE: The only thing that changed between when I had good fps+graphics to bad fps+graphics was that vPilot came out with an update, which I didnt install.
  7. Hi fellow simmers  I am new to forums so don't really know if i am posting this in the correct place or not so please let me know. I'm wondering if any of you can help me in finding out what kind of graphics card/hardware i need in order to achieve a really good realistic flight simulator... I've been looking online recently and have seen that people have got extremely good graphics even when at mega airports I struggle at the moment to get good FPS when at LHR (EGLL) even when my setting are extremely low. I have updated my PC over the past couple of years but it still isn't great, what do you guys think i should look at purchasing next? My current specs are: Ram: 4.00GB AMD FX -4100 Quad Core Processor 3.60GHz 64 Bit Operating System NVIDIA GeForce GT640 Any ideas on what i can change so that i can get ultra realism? p.s im kinda looking for this kind of level: thanks for the help in advance !!
  8. Hi all, I hope I'm posting in right section. Problem with running FSX-SE. I have a good 6 month old Dell Aurora R5, i6700, 3.4 GZ, 3 monitor setup, GTX 1080ti, don't have exact specs in frt of me, but I had it built decent for FSX. Recently, I cannot get the clarity part of the graphics that good, that is my main complaint. I understand on 3 monitors I shouldn't expect the same clarity/resolution as single monitor. I have tried some reputable tweaks, both in fsx.cfg and in Nvidia. I have purchased Steves Direct10 which helped decent amount. The only way the picture seems clear is on the center screen with overhead view, looking down, only then does the ground scenery look clear, otherwise looking out to distance & to the sides it appears blurryish, almost like a painting. I even tried changing the cfg LOD setting from 4.50000 to 6.0000, but did not change anything. Other points- I have the inside FSX autogen & scenery set to sparse. 6 months ago I upgraded from the 1070 to the 1080ti, but in the fsx.cfg file there is old 1070 text/file there, not sure if that's an issue. Also, after loading FSX the main page which used to have advertised photos of Steam sales & things like that on it, is gone, its just red & black text. To clarify, the VC & the aircraft itself looks great, its just the ground scenery, looks like a water painting unless doing birds eye view from above. Not sure what to do. I've read about deleting everything & then reinstalling, but I'm worried about loosing Direct10 & my Orbx. Any help I'll appreciate, Wish there were FSX field agents in every town that did house calls lol. Thanks very much.
  9. Hey, I was browsing youtube today and I came across this user's videos. He is in FlightSafety's full motion sim and wow the graphics look superb!!!!. First I thought it was photo scenery only with no 3D, but when he lands, I can see the buildings and airport etc. The graphics are amazing!!!! I wish current retail sim software can display this level of detail. What simulation software is FlightSafety using?
  10. Greetings! I am building a new PC. I have been away from Flight Sim for 3-4 years (pre Steam and pre p3d). My new build will be for FSX Steam, but I also do Photoshop and Video editing. I anticipate using FSX Steam, PDG 737, Orbix, Rex, most all of the goodies. I am guessing my system will be overkill for Flight Sim, but would like confirmation of that. I will be overclocking the CPU. This is my third build of a system. As I only build system every 4 years or so, I am going high end. I respect the contributors on AvSim and hope for some feedback. Thanks guys! This is my current wish list: CPU: Intel i7-6700 MSI Graphics Card GTX 980 gaming 4g ASUS ROG Maximus VIII HERO Motherboard 2 - Samsung 850 EVO 500GB 2.5 inch SSD G.Skill Ripjaws 16GB (2 x 8GB) DDR4 SDRAM EVGA SuperNOVA 850 Watt G2 80+ Gold Fractal Design Arc Midi R2 Mid Tower Case Corsair Hydro Series H100i GTX CPU Cooler Windows 10 Home 64 bit system builder OEM Don Maxwell
  11. Hi, Really enjoying the DC-6 but the dust (or smoke?) animation from the wheels is almost comical. When I first saw an external camera of the plane taxiing or on a takeoff roll I thought the brakes were on fire. The effect is even there on hard surfaces and just as strong as what is seen if the plane is on gravel or dirt. I think all graphics on the plane are excellent otherwise. It's a shame that this "dust" effect IMO detracts from an otherwise great graphical presentation. Please PMDG, eliminate or at least greatly tone down the "dust". Ideally, the effect would be volume - speed sensitive and be minimal on hard surfaces, if shown at all. Thanks
  12. Hey all, for some reason my PMDG 737 and 777 look so grainy compared to some of the videos i watch on youtube (i dont know how to attach pics). any help on how to correct this will help. My PC: ASUS Z170 PRO GAMING Intel Core i7-6700k 8M CORSAIR Vengeance LPX 16GB (2 x 8GB) 288-Pin DDR4 SDRAM DDR4 2133 (PC4 17000) ASUS GeForce GTX 1080 STRIX FSX Addons: -GSX -GSX LAX HD -FS2CREW -PMDG 737/777 -ACTIVE SKY -REX 3 OD -Vpilot Thanks,, TIM
  13. It seems that only the clouds in frame have their shadows rendered. Couldn't find any references to this. Let me know if it has been posted before, and I'll take it down.
  14. Hey guys I´m having some troubles with the shaders on FSX. As you can see on the image above, the aircraft sahders look really bad. I don´t know what is happening but it is shure I´m getting mad with it.
  15. Anyone know if it's worth the upgrade from a AMD r9 380 4gb to a ASUS ROG STRIX 1060 6gb, Not sure whether it's worth the £300 cost? Anyone help would be appreciated :)
  16. I can happily report that Nvidia 388.31's are working quite well for me, gained an average of 2 frames (been ages since such a thing happened) and chaseplane likes 'em also (in the panning department). Runway textures on take off are doing very well.
  17. Hi guys! I'm not exactly new, mostly been a lurker here and there researching lots, but by no means a new Flight-Sim'er. Big time commercial/large jet enthusiast, but no professional at all. But I seek all of you for your assistance! After lots of reading/research and trial and error, I have my FSX running beautifully, except for one minor issue. I have recorded a quick video of what I am experiencing on my YouTube. Basically, only at a couple of airports so far, I get this texture flicking nonsense and have no idea how to cure it. VID: https://youtu.be/lYbg1uro3sk (Direct Link to my youtube account) Here's my stats run-down: Version: FSX Deluxe Ed. SP2 DirectX10 P - Enabled - My PC runs FSX so much better in DX10 over DX9, so I am not really inclined to switch back. The issue isn't present to the same extent in DX10--Instead of flickering I get a huge framerate drop in DX9 in the same view position Graphics - pretty much maxed Add-ons relevant to issue: Ground Environment X FSX Modified Terrain CFG - via FlyAwaySimulation FSX2xWater - via FlyAwaySimulation FSX Ground Textures - via FlyAwaySimulation Roads v1.1 - ^same as above TreeX USA Ground Textures Upgrade - via FAS too Steve Parson's Shader Fix for DX10 Custom Built PC: Intel Core i7 4790k Devil's Canyon ASUS Maximus VII Motherboard G.Skill 16GBx4 RAM DDR3 MSI NVIDIA GTX670 4GB x2 running in SLI on latest drivers, clean install WD VelociRaptor HD 10k RPM I know the issue here is not my PC in hardware--it is a beast and like I said I have FSX nearly running perfect. But I experience this graphic issue. In the same exact camera POV in DX9, I get a huge framerate drop so something's wrong on both ends. In DX10, I get this weird anomaly. This is specifically at KEWR (Newark International Airport) and no matter where I am, at the gate or on the runway or in the region, I will get this. I also noticed it happens at Japan's Haneda International in Tokyo. Here's where it doesn't happen and all is well: I have been to KSLC Salt Lake City International, Seattle-Taco, KLAX, Heathrow, and Domodevovo in Moscow. It doesn't happen there. Can anyone help me here? I'm on my freshest install of FSX yet with all the processes clean and tweaked using that famous FSX Bible by NickN. And it still happened before all the tweaks and add-ons, and even on a previous install (that said, I tried reinstalling several times, clean and still get the issue). Any thing else for me to add please let me know. Trying to be as specific and detailed as possible since I've discovered many threads about "flickering" and Texture and graphics issues. I've sorted through them all and they all say that Steve Parson's DX10 Shader Fix is the solution. It's been added and still get it. Help! lol Thanks in advance!!!
  18. Hi, sorry for my bad english. Today, trying to tweak my FSX again, i set some configs on Nvidia inspector and also in my CFG. I have never used DX10 Before. I try using an cfg that i found on internet to see if that give me some extras fps, but no, so i delete it. This CFG had the DX10 active. Next to that, i try to build a new cfg. When FSX started, the screen when the aircraft preview were was black. I tried everithing, deleting my cfg, deleting the Shaders, the Nvidia inspector config, etc. But nothing worked. I'M DESPERATE! For me, unistalling everything and reinstalling isnt an option. I have a lot of freeware and payware addons, so, that would be VERY hard and tedious. PLEASE HELP!!
