  1. Hi, I've recently had a problem when I switch from dx10, whenever I do I load up the sim, which loads for a few seconds, then my computer freezes and reboots, however the sim does work in dx10. I have tried reinstalling fsx but this hasn't helped. The only change I have made was setting up sim connect. Please help
  2. Hey guys, I need some help... Last week I started playing around with DX10 for the first time to see how it would run. While the visuals look a little better (I think, it's marginal) my performance has dropped. On average I'm getting around 6-7 fps LESS when using DX10 from DX9, and I cannot figure out why. This contradicts most people's claims of the improvements and benefits they've found after switching over. I've been consuming posts and guides and Youtube videos, slowly making adjustments to FSX and NI setttings one at a time, and nothing has really helped. If I create a flight in FSX and get 28-30 fps, then I load the same flight with DX10 enabled, I'll get 22-23 fps, with occasional drops to 15fps - and some hard stutters. I haven't purchased Steve's fixer yet because I want to first make sure I can actually make it run on par with FSX performance (if not better). Syetem: 15-2500k OC 4GHz, 8gb ram, GTX 560 Ti
  3. Hi, i am looking for help. So far i have been using succesfully SFX 1.5 + FlightFX. No issues and great visual experience. Now i decided to move to SFX 2.0 and i cannot start FSX up. It crashes few seconds after launching fsx.exe. I tried both d9 dll and dxgi one. I deleted App data/Roaming/Microsoft/FSX folder and recreated it. I run fsx.exe in admin mode. Nothing helps. My system: W7 64bit, GTX970, FSX Acceleration, DX10 mode, Steve's DX10 Fixer, nVidia inspector. Any advise how to fix it would be highly appreciated. Kind regards, Kris
  4. Hello, I just got back into flight simming after a 12 month brake and lot of things happened. I ran DX10 fixer before so I wanted to get back into FSX with DX10 again. But right after installing FSX and new version of DX10 Fixer I ran into this: IMAGE: http://i.imgur.com/k4zNvGF.jpg Can you see the (FSX default) sky sort of banding? Just look at the sky pictures and see.. also I dont know why but the ground textures at FlyTampa LOWW are duplicating and they are all rendered in block patterns.. I shoud say that I have FTX Global Base / Vector / Europe LC installed too. I tesed DX9 and it all works ok. I never had this issue before (12 months) ago with DX10. Any ideas would be appreciated. Thank you.
  5. Hello. Let me start with my system settings. HP Pavilion g4-2064la Intel Core i3 @ 2,3GHz 4Gb RAM Intel HD Graphics 3000 (integrated) ATI Radeon HD 7670M (dedicated) - Switchable graphics FSX with SP1 and SP2 I've forever used FSX in DX9 mode, but recently wanted to try DX10 and see how it works. Even though the FPS have never been so good in my computer and I have applied the fixes, antialiasing is terribly bad. I have already applied the MultiSamplesPerPixel=4 in the fsx.CFG [GRAPHICS] section and the "Use application settings" in RadeonPro's AA options (I also selected Multisampling (Box)). Anyway, the AA should work, but it does not function very well. I also get a black full-screen view, but I can see everything if FSX is running in windowed mode. Thanks for your help. I suppose I should start by letting FSX build a new fsx.CFG file, shouldn't I?
  6. Hi again folks, I bought and installed DX10 Fixer. Everything sure looks good In CCC Catalyst Control Center setup a FSX profile where AA is overide application settings. AA samples at 4eQ, and AA supersampling. (As per chapter 6 of the docs) I have set up the FSX display settings as per chapter 5 of the docs. (Filtering Anisotropic and Anti Aliasing ticked) I wonder if you could cast an eye on my FSX.cfg (Below) and tell me if there is anything in it I don't need or should not have. I run a A10 CPU and a R9 200 Series GPU rig. My FSX.cfg may contain things I may not need now as I tweaked it in the past. (Removed all the irrelivent stuff for posting it here. Saving space) [GRAPHICS] SHADER_CACHE_PRIMED_10=1693500672 SHADER_CACHE_PRIMED=1693500672 D3D10=1 MultiSamplesPerPixel=8 TEXTURE_MAX_LOAD=1024 NUM_LIGHTS=8 AIRCRAFT_SHADOWS=0 AIRCRAFT_REFLECTIONS=1 COCKPIT_HIGH_LOD=1 LANDING_LIGHTS=1 AC_SELF_SHADOW=1 EFFECTS_QUALITY=2 GROUND_SHADOWS=0 TEXTURE_QUALITY=3 IMAGE_QUALITY=0 See_Self=1 Text_Scroll=0 HIGHMEMFIX=1 ForceFullScreenVSync=1 ForceWindowedVSync=1 ALLOW_SHADER_30=1 MultiSampleQuality=0 [bUFFERPOOLS] UsePools=0 // Poolsize=0 *Disabled atm* // RejectThreshold=131072 [Display] ChangeTime=4.000000 TransitionTime=4.000000 ActiveWindowTitleTextColor=255,255,255 ActiveWindowTitleBackGroundColor=0,28,140,64 NonActiveWindowTitleTextColor=255,255,255 NonActiveWindowTitleBackGroundColor=24,33,87,64 InfoUpperRightTextColor=255,0,0 InfoUpperRightBackGroundColor=0,0,0,0 InfoLowerLeftTextColor=255,255,255 InfoLowerLeftBackGroundColor=255,0,0,128 InfoLowerRightTextColor=255,255,255 InfoLowerRightBackGroundColor=255,0,0,128 InfoBrakesEnable=True InfoParkingBrakesEnable=True InfoPauseEnable=True InfoSlewEnable=True InfoStallEnable=True InfoOverspeedEnable=True BLOOM_EFFECTS=0 SKINNED_ANIMATIONS=1 TEXTURE_BANDWIDTH_MULT=120 // Was set at TEXTURE_BANDWIDTH_MULT=40 UPPER_FRAMERATE_LIMIT=0 WideViewAspect=True // Dont think this is needed TextureMaxLoad=30 // UPPER_FRAMERATE_LIMIT=20 [Main] DisablePreload=1 User Objects=Airplane, Helicopter SimObjectPaths.0=SimObjects\Airplanes SimObjectPaths.1=SimObjects\Rotorcraft SimObjectPaths.2=SimObjects\GroundVehicles SimObjectPaths.3=SimObjects\Boats SimObjectPaths.4=SimObjects\Animals SimObjectPaths.5=SimObjects\Misc ProcSpeed=7532 PerfBucket=7 Maximized=2 Location=453,491,1493,1269,\\.\DISPLAY1 HideMenuNormal=0 HideMenuFullscreen=1 FIBER_FRAME_TIME_FRACTION=0.20 [Weather] WindshieldPrecipitationEffects=1 MinGustTime=10 MaxGustTime=500 MinGustRampSpeed=1 MaxGustRampSpeed=200 MinVarTime=5 MaxVarTime=50 MinVarRampSpeed=10 MaxVarRampSpeed=75 TurbulenceScale=1.000000 WeatherServerAddress=fs2k.zone.com WeatherServerPort=80 WeatherGraphDataInDialog=0 AdjustForMagVarInDialog=1 DynamicWeather=0 DownloadWindsAloft=0 DisableTurbulence=0 CLOUD_DRAW_DISTANCE=3 DETAILED_CLOUDS=1 CLOUD_COVERAGE_DENSITY=7 THERMAL_VISUALS=0 [DISPLAY.Device.AMD Radeon R9 200 Series.0] Mode=1920x1080x32 AntiAlias=1 Anisotropic=1 [sCENERY] LENSFLARE=1 DAWN_DUSK_SMOOTHING=1 IMAGE_COMPLEXITY=4 SmallPartRejectRadius=1 [TrafficManager] AirlineDensity=33 GADensity=41 FreewayDensity=25 ShipsAndFerriesDensity=22 LeisureBoatsDensity=20 IFROnly=0 AIRPORT_SCENERY_DENSITY=2 [TERRAIN] LOD_RADIUS=4.500000 MESH_COMPLEXITY=100 MESH_RESOLUTION=24 TEXTURE_RESOLUTION=29 AUTOGEN_DENSITY=3 DETAIL_TEXTURE=1 WATER_EFFECTS=5 TERRAIN_MAX_AUTOGEN_TREES_PER_CELL=4376 // This was set at TERRAIN_MAX_AUTOGEN_TREES_PER_CELL=4500 TERRAIN_MAX_AUTOGEN_BUILDINGS_PER_CELL=2800 // This was set at TERRAIN_MAX_AUTOGEN_BUILDINGS_PER_CELL=3000 SWAP_WAIT_TIMEOUT=2 [Misc] Com_Rate=7 [JOBSCHEDULER] AffinityMask=14 [FSDREAMTEAM] AntiPopUp=1 ViewOptimization=0 AltitudeCull=1 GroundTraffic=1 [AccelerationPack] ControlsFirstRun=0 HomePageFirstRun=0 [MULTIPLAYER] condAccoutPassword=0 VoiceVolume=-0.000000 If there is anything in there I no longer need please could you advise and I shall remove it. 7. Hello, I've noticed some FPS problems with the newest fixer e.g. when I fly with the Aerosoft Airbus. The problem are the shadows in the VC. Can someone tell me how to get better frames with shadows in the VC? -Sweetfx; NI for my GTX560; REX4; ASN Cheers
  8. Hi! I've experienced some very wierd textures on FSX lately, they are blue and ugly and its mostly lakes that looks like that. Im using DX10 and REX. This i what it looks like: http://gyazo.com/e31ba0f441d137e1e9009ad03d425248 http://gyazo.com/b4dbde9d3f4bc69c1e31a02c4ca9c412 Thanks for helping me! /Jacob
  9. Big thanks for keeping the software updated and improving/adding features. One small issue with the latest 2.5 installation (for me) is the loss of the text background colour as can be seen here. Now the text remains readable but the line in the background is gone. Before 2.5, there was a green layer behind the text. fsx.cfg settings haven't changed but here they are, just in case: ActiveWindowTitleTextColor=255,255,255 ActiveWindowTitleBackGroundColor=0,28,140,64 NonActiveWindowTitleTextColor=255,255,255 NonActiveWindowTitleBackGroundColor=24,33,87,64 InfoUpperRightTextColor=255,0,0 InfoUpperRightBackGroundColor=255,0,0,128 InfoLowerLeftTextColor=255,255,255 InfoLowerLeftBackGroundColor=255,0,0,128 InfoLowerRightTextColor=255,255,255 InfoLowerRightBackGroundColor=255,0,0,128 Any ideas what setting could cause this? Happened right after installing 2.5, so there is a correlation while the causation still has to be proven of course.
  10. My experience with Aerosoft Mega Helsinki: I installed this airport after I had already set up FSX to run in DX10 mode (with the free DX10 shader fixes by Steve). Main problem with EFHK in DX10 was at night = no taxiway lights, grey textures on nearby buildings and taxiways, no labels on taxiway signs (just grey!!!), grey ground textures by apron floodlights. So then I loaded up the airport in DX9 = beautiful scenery but test flight arriving at EFHK resulted in OOM. And I didn't really want to go back to DX9 because DX10 experience is smooth & stable. Then I bought and installed Steve's payware DX10 Scenery Fixer from flightsimstore. Installed its libraries with only one option selected (the DX10 Lights package). I made no other changes to my FSX setup or to the DX10 Scenery Fixer. Then I tried another DX10 flight = success! No more OOM. The VAS was well clear of OOM territory. At EFHK I can now see taxiway lights and labels, and the other buildings around the airport, and ground textures near apron floodlights were correctly lit. In a couple of places near end of runway, the taxiway has no center-lights (only edge-lights), but this is hardly noticeable. Conclusion: I stay with DX10.... and I support Steve's DX10 Scenery Fixer. Big thank you to Steve!
  11. I tried DX10 on my system a while before installing a new SSD and found performance was worse for me than with DX9. It may have just been my imagination but I felt that DX9 had been affected when I switched back. I want to give DX10 another chance with my new install of FSX but I also want to make sure that I can return back to exactly the same DX9 that I had before if DX10 doesn't work for me again. Which files does the DX10 preview modify? I have a full backup of FSX but I don't want to have to replace everything, just the files that are changed.
  12. on several different airports, e.g. on FSX default airports, ORBX FTX region airports and on local ORBX scenery airports the prog. signs are visible and fine (independent from the legacy slider position and independent from aircraft ballast fix). Only in CYVR from FSdreamteam I have a problem as shown below. Strange that the signs are only visible when looking parallel to the ground surface, valid for DX10 and as well in DX9 mode. I checked also with the legacy slider and aircraft ballast y/n, but this does not help. Any good ideas how to solve this issue although only recognized in CYVR and befor asking FSDT-support directly? Wulf
  13. V1.3 b34 is installed. I checked the original Orbx ftx lights (not the ftx Global lights), but the lights are still shining through the fog. Is the extended reduced light visibility only valid for the FTX Global lights? Any chance to implement this effect for the original ftx lights too? I know Orbx announced to convert the Global light system into the existing ftx sceneries too, but not in the near future. Wulf
  14. Hello Avsim! I have spent the last....oh idk 234 straight hours of my life trying to resolve my tearing and spike issue with FSX (DX10). First off...Clearly one can tell that Steves DX10 fix is a really good fix and I would recommend it to anyone because I'm sure this isn't happening to all of you happy users. Lets begin.... One day I started to get tears and spikes while in DX10.....After a un believable amount of troubleshooting and testing I decided the only way to stop my tearing and spike issue in FSX was reinstalling it all over again (yes, with all my addons and hardware button mapping, FSUIPC, cam settings, weather settings etc...). My thought was to install one addon at a time until these badboys came out to play again. Of course I was hoping they wouldn't....but, they did. Take a few minutes to hear my story because this bug may be breading like a mouse for ATI users. First off my hardware and software: (Alienware Aurora R4) i7 3930k 3.2ghz (OC'd at 4.4) HT enabled ATI Radeon 7970 3gb 16gbs of ram Win 7 Home Premium ATI 13.4 driver RadeonPro My FSX.CGF changes (after trying 10000 options): Highmemfix=1 WideViewAspect=True ForceWindowedVsynce=1 TEXTURE_BANDWIDTH_MULT=40 My addons: UTX GEX REX ASE2012 Genises mesh Magoisoft Shade EZdock Cam Folks, I have done everything. bios settings, bios upgrades/downgrades, GPU driver update/downgrade, OC settings, Cooling settings. Literally every possible option of tweaks in the FSX.cfg (including making a default one). CCC upgrade and downgrade, addon re-installs, CCC settings, RadeonPro settings, AA setings, MSI afterburn options, graphics options in FSX, traffic options, textures from GEX and ASE 2012 and to be honest, SO MUCH MORE that I won't waist your time with my list, just know it's not pretty. I finally said thats enough and I reinstalled EVERY...single...thing. So as I'm "revers engineering" my situation I keep in mind what I'm installing and testing FSX after every single install. Finally I come to Steves DX10 fix. I register it, run the installer and....(drum roll please) Tearing and spikes are back faster then a speeding bullet. So now that I see what's causing these at least I have a little better idea of what I should be doing....But I mean NOTHING......nothing at all has stopped these from showing.....a few minutes into every flight I get these spikes and tears especially on final. Funny thing is there is absolutely NO FPS DECREASE while these are happening...they just flicker and go crazy everywhere on my screen. Also my card isn't even being used a lot....or heating up along with my CPU. My Radeon Pro settings are from this guid right here. I have done a numerous amount of FSX.CFG tweaks including bufferpools 1&0 reject thresholds and these are still here. Isn't this beautiful? I am willing to try just about anything to get these to leave. My sim is better than ever right now if it just wasn't for this bug.....Im getting a steady 30fps with the ATI DX10 guid up-top however, all this great sim experience is washed away with these spikes and tears. Any ideas gentlemen?
  15. I have not seen this posted yet. There's a lot of discussions on-going since the release of Steve's DX10 Fixer and it's hard to keep up on all the fixes. I just checked out FSDT KORD and there still is a small issue with the taxiway and runway green lights. As you can see the lights appear (they use to be covered with a grey or white block); however, there is some black remnants sounding each light. Just wondering if this is what others are seeing too. Perhaps I didn't configure my DX10 Fixer properly. Thanks. If this is what others are seeing I have no problems with it. At least you can see the green lights and taxi. Best regards, Jim
  16. Call me mad (?) but now that I have FSX running sweetly under DX10 I was thinking that it's time to remove FSX from my old 1TB HDD and put it on my brand new 240GB solid state drive! I already have a 60GB SSD for the Windows 7 OS but there's not enough room for FSX on there and would rather keep FSX away from the OS and program file folder/s. As far as I'm aware SSD's are significantly faster than an older HD? It certainly boots my OS much more quickly than previously. Are many of you running FSX from an SSD? Did you see much of an performance improvement? Any tips what/what not to do? Cheers Adam

  18. After realising AES(Airport Enhancement Services) was needed to get working jetways at aersoft airports, I was also disappointed to find out that many AES models ,Specifically jetways, were missing textures in the DX10 preview. Will DX10 fixer resolve the texture-less jetway issues with AES. Iv'e spent hours searching and iv not found anything that specifically addresses AES. Can anyone say, from experience, whether or not DX10 fixer can fix the texture problems with AES. Thank you.
  19. Hi Everybody, I am the newest user with dx10. I just bought Steve's patch and installed it with reading and appled step by step "How -to" and "User Manual" guides. And of these thing I have seen like new side FSX. Befero everything , I am very happy to use Steve's patch and many thanks for this fix . After a successed fight I want to ask couple quesiton about DX10 and my current settings. - The first question about window mode. I have never used FSX with window mode DX9. Also I use full screen with DX10. But when I click the "fly now" button , fsx quickly change window mode than full screen mode. And when I click the "End Flight" button it happent again. I can not fix it. Is there any trick I missed it ? - Second question about airplanes like PMDG. When I fist load sim or change cam view like wing view , outside after retured VC 1 or 2 second everything is like black. After 1 or 2 seconds everything comes perfect. Is it normal for DX10 or again there is any trick I missed it ? - The last question, it is not importand and actually it is a not a problem. I just wondering. It is about main screen that we prepair our flight screen. When I start FSX , on the main screen AA like not working. The plane does not look prefect like DX9. Is it normal ? Also I attached my settings and fsx.cfg. 20. Hello guys Did a quick search but didn't see any relevant results... Am tempted to buy the Majestic Q400 after waiting a few months for the various hot fixes and updates. Do any of you have it and if so does it work well in DX10 mode? Adam
  21. Hi there, after comparing both versions I recognized that only shader 3.2.1 shows building textures from the checked payware airport "AS Approaching Innsbruck" day and night. Also some DX10-noncompliant static aircraft are shown nearly properly. Are combinations possible, which include advantages from both versions? Any pro/con summary per version available which might help to choose the right one at first? Wulf
  22. Does anyone else have this issue with multiple shadows inside the cockpit with DX10 (see image)? I installed Paul's DX10 Shader mod with all of the mods completed with the latest updates as I was having issues using the installation features. I also have the recommended FSX.cfg and NI settings. Otherwise everything looks great. The photo is the default 737 but it happens in all aircraft. Thanks to anyone who might have suggestions to fix. Best regards, Jim
  23. I'm impressed with the smoothness of DX10 and FSX after making the necessary changes and using the modified files put together by stevejp. Thank you for all your hard work! However some of my favourite older aircraft now have all white textures inside and out which is a bit of a killer for me as I love flying my De Havilland Chipmunk, HS748, RealAir 172 and other pre-fsx aircraft. I have tried the addon x demo and even though it replaces some of the textures they all appear slightly transparent so have uninstalled it and am hoping to find another way of getting older aircraft textures to show up in DX10. Any ideas? Regards Adam
  24. Hi there, after checking various airports I recognized still flickering taxiways and apron by day and night, e.g. San Diego (FSX default) and Eugene (ORBX PNW). Only DX10 previev: flickering runways, taxiways, apron....as awaited and known DX10+shader V3.1.: Runway ok, but the flickering from taxiways and apron still remains. in FSX antialiasing and anisotropic filtering ticked. Also included in the fsx.cfg are the tweaking proposols acc. to the how-to doc recommendations. I do not use Nvidia inspector, as the calibration factors can be set in the orig. Nvidia menu (driver 306.23). Any help or advise appriciated. Wulf
