About Me

  1. I have search, reviewed, installed,,,reinstalled,,,re-reinstalled. I have changed drives I have even considered reinstall of OS...?!@? But... My tile proxy does work. It just doesn't work the way I would expect my system to work so as a favor I'm asking the great community whom has helped in the past to so many of us out here. System Specs:Motherboard Gigabyte GA-MA790x-UD4PProcessor AMD Phenom 1100T 6 coresRam 8GB Kingston DDR2 800HDD1 wOS Win764 SATA WD 500GB w14.ms seek HDD2 Parralell not used but for backupHDD3 World folder and caches SATA Seagate 1TB tested w 18.ms seek 2x ATI 4850 512mb in crossfire 11.5 drivers (POINT here My older 2 core system ran this stuff eh..OK why not with this now) FSX sp2 tileproxy beta8 shader mod 3.0 I can load a flight in Hawaii like I allways do and I get the origianl loaded area ok and net transfer shows ok.it take a while and works but I think it is cached. because subsequent flight shows little to no net dl but 150 tile per second transfer. This should be DL'ing like crazy, YES? I not getting any new tiles so as a long time user of tileproxy I must have goofed it bigtime So what can I do to avoid a system wide reinstall of everything to get a pleasurable experience again? I can and will post anything I can to help you guys help me? 2. Hi,I'm having a problem with installing the latest display driver(8.92 i think it is) for my 5850. Trust me I've googled this already, tried every solution which includes, uninstalling AMD Software, safe mode, driver sweeper etc...but I'm still getting this issue...The first picture says the INF file was not found.... <_<The second & third pic is just the log...everything else installed and is up to date except the display driver...The FOURTH pic show the folder that was created during installation and it shows TWO INF files.I tried to manually update thru Device Manager but it still comes up as an error...I'm about to give up on this. The current driver I have now is 8.85. Much help is appreciated.Thanks.
  3. Hi guys, I need your help, I want to upgrade my system, but I don't know what to do, I'm using an AMD Fx 4350 (which is really bad), but as you know this is so weak, it doesnt run FSX with a proper FPS,so I decided to upgrade, my budget isnt the best, so I wont buy an Intel core i7 4770k, I cant. I readed about intel processors are better (talking about fsx), but I've seens some videos, people using AMD Fx 8350, and FSX running good. So, my options are: 1) Intel Core i3 4150, It's obviously that I have to buy another board, and I don't know if it's gonna be problem, I dont know if I'm going to have some kind of problem with the two cores it has. 2) AMD Fx 9370, I dont have to buy another motherboard, and if FSX runs good on Fx 8350, this should be better. So guys, help me please, do not tell me things like: ''oh no buy the i5-4670k, buy the i7 4790k'' because I dont really have the money. Regards.
  4. Hello, Hoping somebody can help before I lose the will to live. I have reciently got 3 Triple monitors for my flight sim experience. I am getting an Average of about 22fps. It gets high FPS everywhere else other than the VC. But none of it is constant. I have it set on Unlimited. I use Eyeinfinity of a Resolution of 5760x1200. My Specs will be below. I run orbx Global and Orbx England, and it looks terrible.. So does REX which is unlike before. I hope somebody can help as there is very little information about AMD around. Its what I have and what I was able to get hold off. The Specs are still pretty decent in my opinion. Just wish the game would react fps wise. Anyway thank you in advanced. Any more information needed don't hesitate to contact me. Intel i5-2500K CPU @ 3.30Ghz Windows 7 Ultimate, AMD Radeon HD 6800 Series, 3x Monitors Eyefinity at 5760x1200, Foxconn Rattler Motherboard and 8GB Ram/Memory. FSX CFG File: http://pastebin.com/inuV5FRQ Btw I have tried many tweaks now.
  5. Hiya folks, Have recently come back to FSX and put my trusty sword away for a while. I got myself a decent system last year (well late 2013) - AMD A10 Quad core and Radeon R9 200 series GPU. All the other usual ingredients. I would like to use the DX10 preview settings and with that in mind I am really considering buying Steves DX10 fixer. I do have Acceleration installed. One question is would I still need to set up a profile etc in Radeon Pro, or does the Catalyst Control Center replace it. Or are they different animals altogether. Next question - with this CPU, and GPU should the DX10 feature be a good improvement graphically and frames per second wise ? Or not worth the hassle. Any help or advice gratefully recieved. Thank you. Terry
  6. Hello. Let me start with my system settings. HP Pavilion g4-2064la Intel Core i3 @ 2,3GHz 4Gb RAM Intel HD Graphics 3000 (integrated) ATI Radeon HD 7670M (dedicated) - Switchable graphics FSX with SP1 and SP2 I've forever used FSX in DX9 mode, but recently wanted to try DX10 and see how it works. Even though the FPS have never been so good in my computer and I have applied the fixes, antialiasing is terribly bad. I have already applied the MultiSamplesPerPixel=4 in the fsx.CFG [GRAPHICS] section and the "Use application settings" in RadeonPro's AA options (I also selected Multisampling (Box)). Anyway, the AA should work, but it does not function very well. I also get a black full-screen view, but I can see everything if FSX is running in windowed mode. Thanks for your help. I suppose I should start by letting FSX build a new fsx.CFG file, shouldn't I?
  7. Ok, so I am looking to build a pc for fsx, but I want it to hold up on other sims such as xplane, prepar3d, or other games like arma 3, battlefield 4, etc. . This is what I came up with https://pcpartpicker.com/user/littleferrhis/saved/#savedbuild_1979789...Now I do understand that in games like fsx, intel seems to be the way to go, but I am also going to be using this for other games, and the 4 cores may be more beneficial in that aspect, as well as amd having cheap , but powerful hardware. I tried to go as cheap as possible, since my budget is around $500, and I am going to need to wheel and deal to even reach this goal. I wanted to hear opinions, and I want to see if there are parts that are better for at the same price or cheaper. Thanks...
  8. So, I've been enjoying my FSX computer for about a year now, and I feel that it now needs a refreshment. The current specs are as below: Motherboard: ASRock N68-VS3 FX CPU: AMD FX-4130 overclocked to 4.1GHz CPU Cooler: Cooler Master 120V Seidon GPU: EVGA GeForce GTX 650 1GB RAM: 8GB (4GB x2) DDR3 PSU: Dynex 520W ATX Power Supply I've saved up money since I bought this PC, and I was thinking about upgrading the CPU and the motherboard as well. After researching for the best parts in my budget, I came to this combination. New CPU: Intel i5-4960K @ 3.5GHz New Motherboard: Gigabyte GA-B85M-D3H or GA-H81M-HD3 Although I know that Intel i5's and i7's generally perform better over AMD equivalents, but I want to hear the opinions of others. Would the Intel i5-4960K perform better than the AMD FX-4130 without overclocking? Also, is this entire upgrade worth the cost (~$270)? Thanks in advance.
  9. This has been asked a million times I think... but is there a fix for the artifacting with AMD cards?... I've tried with multiple drivers. This only happens with SteveFX I believe. I use a 7850 btw...
  10. Hi, Last year I bought an AMD FX6300 @ 3.5Ghz, Turbo up to 4.1Ghz (technically a 3 core 6 thread CPU) and recently an R9 270 GPU. It greatly improved performance in FSX compared to a previous old core2duo. Even better in Prepar3D. Recently I got an Acer laptop, thin and portable with only moderate casual gaming in mind, it has a Core i5-4200U @ 1.6Ghz, Turbo up to 2.6Ghz (a 2 core CPU with 4 threads) with an NVIDIA GT750M GPU (in optimus) and in turns out that this laptop runs just as good if not sometimes better than my main desktop rig? I compared settings and loaded up addon scenery with addon aircraft and the FPS is mostly similar (in Prepar3D) In FSX the desktop is somewhat faster but also not much. In other first person shooter games (BF4) or Watch_Dogs the desktop rig is considerably better, but still the laptop is not too far behind if I slightly dial down details. Now I am wondering, are games so well optimized these days or is AMD just really bad? I know vishera/piledriver and whatnot wasnt a hit but I didnt expect it to almost lose out to a mobile CPU found in ultrabooks.... this i5 is the U version with low TDP.... Also I recall usi some msi tool to see CPU core usage in-game and it was constantly dropping and rising, I have a low end ASUS mainboard could this be a bottleneck and have trouble handling the FX CPU?
  11. Hey guys, I've been thinking about upgrading my PC. I mainly use it for Flightsimming (and office stuff, but that's irrelevant in this case). But probably my system differs a lot from the system a lot of simmers have, because I'm a proud AMD user, never was disappointed by AMD, my CPUs kept running and running. Great pieces of hardware. Speaking of hardware, here are my specs: AMD Athlon II X4 @ 3.4GHz 4GB DDR3 RAM AMD Radeon HD5670 Asus mainboard with AM3+ socket (not the cheapest and not the most expensive but does its job) and an SSD with Win7 64bit installed Now as the title tells you already, I'm considering upgrading my CPU to a FX8350 (and doubling the RAM to 8GB). Is this a reasonable step? Consider this: I'm flying FS9 only... until now at least. However I have some stuff installed... various addon sceneries (Aerosoft, FlyTampa and a bunch of freeware stuff), as for the aircraft I mostly use the IFly B737NG series, Level-D B763 and PMDG B744. Weather engine is ActiveSky Evolution, Performance calculation by TOPCAT and I'm flying online on Vatsim (so Firefox is always open for airport charts etc.) Standing at the gate at Frankfurt (MAF by Aerosoft installed) sitting in the standard Cessna under medium rain and heavy clouds in the sky I usually get about 24fps in average. With the IFly that value drops to around 20 in average with ASE running. However my sim just does not feel "smooth" when I'm taxiing on airports like that or when I'm on approach into those airports. I've done some tweaking... recently I've tweaked too much and now my sim crashes all the time, which is why I'll freshly install him again tomorrow. Now what do I want to achieve by buying a FX8350? I want my FS9 to run smooth as silk. No (or almost no) stutters at all, no significant framedrops, neither standing at the airports nor flying through clouds. Is it possible to nail 35fps with an FX8350 when I use as much software as stated above? For the future I plan to migrate to P3d. This could be in half a year or maybe a year... I'm not sure yet. Sometimes I think about buying P3d and the C172 trainer by A2A simulations right now and have some fun with it, but I really like my FS9 and buying all the addons again would hurt my wallet a lot. Assuming I choose the FX8350 and maybe get a newer gfx card with P3d and have 8GB RAM by then, what will the performance of P3d be like? Will I have fun with P3d? Is this system still too weak to run P3d (+ A2A/PMDG/IFly aircraft addon + ASN + FlyTampa scenery)? Rumours that I've heard say that P3d simply "works" better than FSX, meaning it is more stable and its performance is more solid compared to FSX, how big is the difference in FPS between FSX and P3d with the same addons running? Also I've heard that P3d uses multicore technology while FS9 does not. Is it possible that P3d even runs better than FS9 on an hexacore like the FX 8350? I'm absolutely aware that actually Intel processors are the way to go for flightsimming. However this is not an option for me as upgrading my system to make it compatible with an Intel CPU, that easily can be double the price of an FX8350, is far too expensive for me. There simply has to be another way, hasn't it? So I hope you can "answer" my questions. Maybe there's someone running his FS with a FX8350? Please reply to this post, I'm looking forward to hear your experiences! Maybe there's someone that tested a lot of CPUs with FS9/X or P3d and, by accident, you've also tested a FX8350 or similar CPU? Share your insights! Have a great sunday and hope to hear from you soon!
  12. Hey guys, new to this forum but not so FSX! I'm building my own PC (soon) but I still can't decide between an Intel 4440 paired with a GTX 750Ti, or an AMA 6300 paired with an AMD R7 265... Could you guys help me? I do a mix between gaming and video editing and my budget is £700 or less (including monitor, win 8). I'm upgrading from my ancient Dell Inspiron 530 on the LGA 775 with a Core 2 Duo E7200 and an ATI Radeon 5450. Both systems have 8GB 1600MHz RAM. I also apologise for the layout (using an iPhone to type this). Thank you!

  14. Hi all, I seem to have got my sytem's "stutters" under control and thought I'd share a little of what I learned. The problem: I was getting framerates of 50+ though quite erratic but then I'd pan the camera or pull a sharp manoeuvre and I'd get horrible, very brief fps stutters where the image would breifly freeze, jump then be fine until the next manoeuvre. What works for me: I had a look at his page: http://www.prepar3d.com/SDKv2/LearningCenter/getting_started/performance/general_performance_tuning.html - tweaked a little didnt really know what the effects were but got a better understanding of what these entries in the cfg did. Then I looked at this page: http://www.venetubo.com/fsx.html - uploaded my cfg, was not confident enough to paste their suggest cfg file in full as it seemed to not really account for P3d 2.2 but i did however pate the entries it said it had ajusted into my existing Prepar3d.cfg. -- this helped a bit but didnt fully solve the issue Then looked at my Gfx card's control panel. For me, I have 2 crossfired AMD FirePro GPUs (it's the new "trash can" Mac Pro) Here I turned everything to "use application settings" as everyone suggests, turned off "wait for verticle refresh" and "Open GL tripple buffering" and this made the biggest difference; I turned off AMD crossfire's "Frame Pacing" Now almost smooth as silk 40+ framerates in a nice addon AC at a nice Orbx Airport... happy days!
  15. Hello friends, I need help. I am trying to configure affinitymask for my processor, I tried with values 62 or 63-64, FSX works for a few minutes with all cores, but then the rest stops working attached some screenshots Core 0 1 (first physical core) 1 2 (first logical core) 2 4 (2nd physical core) 3 8 (2nd logical core) 4 16 (3rd physical ... 5 32 6 64 7 128 8 256 9 512 10 1024 11 2048
  16. Anyone has using R9 GPU series from AMD for primary flight system(FSX/P3D)? (R9 270x/280x/290x) Is there any problem/issue with FS? (like black screen, blur display etc..etc..) -------------------- I was plan buying GTX 660 in last three weeks ,But can't get any. maybe there 20 retail store and 5 online store i asking if there any gtx 660 available ;_; (no stock) I look 270x , and its available.Maybe will choose this card for my flight sytem (it has mantle thoo ) (I know Price 270x and GTX 760 MS* on neweg** is similliar, but in my country(Indonesia) there $30+- USD diffrent) I know using Nvidia card its best choice for Flight system.. But 3 weeks without gaming its... killing me T_T,Can't wait any longer.. * Sorry for bad english *
  17. I have 8350FX Overlocked to 4.6 ghz AffinityMask=255 It is normaly using of cpu's in FSX? CPU 7 - 100% CPU 8 - 80% and the others is so-so working. How can i change this situation?
  18. Hey guys, more or less a newbie here, just thought I'd ask some opinions: I'm trying to put together a workable FSX rig, and its now time to upgrade my cpu/mobo from a 4 year old dinosaur to something I can squeeze some better performance out of. It looks like everyone is all about the i7's but I'm really on a tight budget and the Phenom ii x4 965BE looks like a steal for 90 bucks and 3.4ghz out the box. Now, I am definitely someone who believes on 'you get what you paid for', so is there anyone who uses it and can give me some specifics on the ups and downs on getting something like this? I am currently using an Athlon 64x2 running at about 2.7ghz. On a PMDG NGX and running REXE, I get anywhere from 8-12fps on a good day as long as I'm not using complex scenery. Right now, I'm getting the most fps nosedives when REXE injects weather and when flying online with FSInn. Now just for clarification, I want better FPS but I am by no means trying to go crazy-pro here. I am pretty much satisfied with a solid 16-18fps, as long as it's consistent and doesn't really dive below 12 when (for example) rexe decides to inject weather on short final. So anyway any opinions on that CPU or other advice would be appreciated. If I missed another thread where this was already covered, just let me know. Thanks
  19. Hello, I could not find any P3D V2 performance report from someone having the new AMD R9 series video card. Could someone with such a card comment the performance ? Thanks

  21. So it looks like AMD wins the race to 5Ghz clock speed CPU . Their next CPU will be the FX-9590 that will reach the speed of 5ghz on turbo boost . Here is the full article http://www.engadget.com/2013/06/11/amd-5gz-fx-chips/
  22. Hi, Just need to get a few opinions. I currently have a phenom II X6 1045t 2.7ghz cpu that i recently bought. Will it be worth it if i purchase a Cooler Master 212 cooler and overclock to 3.2 - 3.4ghz using addons such as the pmdg737, rex, and gex?
  23. Hi Simmers, I currently have a Phenom II X6 1045T that cannot be overclocked because of my weak mobo. I want to upgrade this PC so it is dedicated to flight sim. Yes I know its best that i get a i5 or i7 K processor, but i simply cannot afford that due to shipping cost from America to here I live. So which should I get? Budget at absolute peak for CPU and Mobo is $210US AMD FX6300 + Mobo = $201US Intel i3 3220 + Mobo = $185 US Any opinions ????? I only want fsx to run PMDG's, REX, and GEX smoothly enough. I will NOT be using any payware airports or scenery and will be using WOAI traffic. I also dont plan maxing out the sliders. The only one that will be maxed are LOD. The rest will be middle to middle-high Thanks
  24. Hello, I currently have my FX 6300 running at 4.2Gz. To achieve this I turned up the multiplier, turned off the turbo boost option, and also turned off the cool and quiet mode. I did not adjust voltage - I just left it set to auto. Everything seems to be running good with this set up and temperatures have only reached 25 degrees Celsius during load tests. I am new to overclocking, in fact this is the first CPU that I have ever overclocked and I have some questions: 1: I would like to run my CPU at 4.5 or 4.7Ghz, however, when I increase the multiplier to anything above 4200Mhz I get error messages from Windows saying my computer is being shut down to prevent damage. How can I safely overclock to 4.7Ghz? What all do I need to change in BIOS? Here is my PC set up: Diablotek EVO case Gigabyte 970a-UD3 motherboard AMD FX 6300 Black Edition CPU (currently @ 4.2Ghz) 16Gb DDR3 Corsair Vengeance RAM EVGA NVIDIA Geforce GTX 660 Superclocked 2x 500Gb Sata hard drives Coolermaster 600w PSU Thermaltake Contact 30 CPU cooler 2x 120mm case intake fans 4x 120mm case exhaust fans Thank you,
