  1. Hello guys. I would like to hear from you to help me choose a good graphic card to fit the following configuration: (regardless of price) Using Windows 10, Prepar3d 3.3 INTEL - I7 6700K ASUS ATX B150 PRO GAMING / AURA DDR4 2400MHz 16GB - HyperX FURY CORSAIR 850W ATX 80PLUS RM850X KINGSTON HyperX SSD 240GB SATA III 2.5' FURY 6.0GB / S GRAPHIC CARD ??????? Thanks.
  2. Would these computer specs work well in fsx (thinking of building a custom pc) Intel i7 3770K (3.5 Ghz 3.9 Ghz Boost) Asus P8P67 Deluxe Motherboard EVGA 760Ti 2 gb Graphics card 200gb SSD 8GB DDR3 Memory 850 Watt Power Supply I am still deciding on a case, any recommendations are welcome
  3. I am still loving the new machine I built but I am having two issues that I am looking for help on....I have not called in to Asus yet but may after the US holiday here. Issue #1 is I really want in the hot weather to put the system to sleep and then awaken it when I want to fly, work, photoshop whatever. I am finding that when I initially would put the system to sleep it would sleep.....blue LED slowly flashing....now if I put it to sleep it sleeps for 5 or 10 seconds and then comes back to life and stays running....not sure why....I imagine a USB device is waking it....may be my Gen1 Drobo? Issue #2 is when I fully shut down the system, and then return to use it and power it on I get he NVIDA Bios message then the Asus BiOS splash screen.....that splash screen used to come up for may be 15 seconds but now it holds there for about 1M 45 Seconds......drag. I have looked around on Asus' website and I have updated to the very latest BiOS with no effect so far. Any thoughts or suggestions? I plan to try the sleep rebot with various devices connected and see what happens and will add to the thread when I do.
  4. Hi, Last year I bought an AMD FX6300 @ 3.5Ghz, Turbo up to 4.1Ghz (technically a 3 core 6 thread CPU) and recently an R9 270 GPU. It greatly improved performance in FSX compared to a previous old core2duo. Even better in Prepar3D. Recently I got an Acer laptop, thin and portable with only moderate casual gaming in mind, it has a Core i5-4200U @ 1.6Ghz, Turbo up to 2.6Ghz (a 2 core CPU with 4 threads) with an NVIDIA GT750M GPU (in optimus) and in turns out that this laptop runs just as good if not sometimes better than my main desktop rig? I compared settings and loaded up addon scenery with addon aircraft and the FPS is mostly similar (in Prepar3D) In FSX the desktop is somewhat faster but also not much. In other first person shooter games (BF4) or Watch_Dogs the desktop rig is considerably better, but still the laptop is not too far behind if I slightly dial down details. Now I am wondering, are games so well optimized these days or is AMD just really bad? I know vishera/piledriver and whatnot wasnt a hit but I didnt expect it to almost lose out to a mobile CPU found in ultrabooks.... this i5 is the U version with low TDP.... Also I recall usi some msi tool to see CPU core usage in-game and it was constantly dropping and rising, I have a low end ASUS mainboard could this be a bottleneck and have trouble handling the FX CPU?
  5. I upgraded my system with a i7-4770K CPU and Asus Maximus VI Formula MOBO on Dec 14th, and am finally getting to the final stages of resolving the last of the Event errors plaguing my system. When I re-installed Win8Pro64, I used the MOBO disk to load all the ancillary drivers and such, and happened to also load AI Suite III, which was a total mistake that I didn't remember that from my earlier days. I have run the Asus AISuite3 uninstaller, but can't seen to get one last crumb gone: the AMDA00 interface. With little to go on Google-wise, I see that it is related to AISuite3, and some comments simply advise to delete it. But it's the proverbial boomerang- it just installs itself again, then generates Event Viewer messages that WUDFRd can't load the driver.. I suspect from the lack of web content that this is a fairly new issue, although I did find some references to AISuite2. Trying to use Asus' Forum to interact is just a horrible waste of time- I can't even get the website to let me type a post. I love their products, but their website skills are completely left to be desired. Has anyone run into this? How did you fix [trash] it? Thanks! Sean
  6. Hi all, Another noob trying to build an fsx computer... New to posting in avsim forums and computer building, but a long time user of fsx. Looking for advice on a build as i'm new to computer building and just want to make sure everything makes sense and I'm not doing anything stupid. The computer will be specific for fsx, using rex, gex, utx, pmdg ngx, on vatsim and three monitors. All on Win 7. The plan is to overclock it as much as possible. Here are the components I've chosen so far... I need to know how these will stack up with fsx, if i'm going overboard on anything, or there are any compatibility issues i should be aware of. Corsair Vengeance Series C70 GIGABYTE GV-N660OC-2GD GeForce GTX 660 2GB 192-bit GDDR5 PCI Express 3.0 x16 HDCP CORSAIR TX Series CMPSU-750TX 750W ATX12V v2.3 SLI Ready CrossFire Ready 80 PLUS BRONZE CORSAIR Vengeance 8GB (2 x 4GB) 240-Pin DDR3 SDRAM DDR3 1600 (PC3 12800) Desktop Memory Model CMZ8GX3M2A1600C9B ASUS P8Z77-V PRO LGA 1155 Intel Z77 HDMI SATA 6Gb/s USB 3.0 ATX Intel Motherboard Intel Core i5-3570K Ivy Bridge 3.4GHz (3.8GHz Turbo) LGA 1155 77W Quad-Core Desktop Processor Intel HD CORSAIR Hydro Series H110 Water Cooler 2 x SAMSUNG 840 Series MZ-7TD120BW 2.5" 120GB SATA III Internal Solid State Drive (SSD) Any advice or thoughts would be greatly appreciated!
  7. Hi guys, In the next few days i am going to gradually buy new hardware for FSX. I'm currently running... AMD FX6300 @4.4ghz Nvidia GTX 960 2GB 1TB HDD 16GB DDR3 @1800mhz. The new build will be... Intel i7 6700K Asus Z170 Pro gaming Corsair Vengeance LPX 16 GB DDR4 3000 MHz CL15 XMP. GTX 960 2GB I am thinking of getting an SSD for FSX steam but have a few questios. 1) what benefits does an SSD have in FSX steam? 2) is it easy to transfer windows 10 to my new PC? 3) I have well over 20GB add ons for fsx on my hdd, can i transfer them over or will i have to re download them all? 4) Because I have FSX steam does that mean I have to reinstall steam and FSX onto the SSD? 5) final question ... I run UT2 at 35% and Fly UK traffic at 20% along with ORBX regions, 737 NGX, PMDG 777, Aerosoft EGLL and captain sims 757 and 767. Im not expecting to get 100fps with these add ons but would the new hardware come close to giving me a smooth flight? especially from EGLL? Its not 4am... lol, I think ive googled everything i can but still cant find the answers hoping someone can help.
  8. Couple questions before purchasing. I currently have a 3930k OC@ 4.4Ghz I just had the luck to be able to get my hands on a motherboard from work for a great, great price and I couldn't resist. Its just that my 3930k does not fit the socket of this board (ASUS P8Z77-ws). My Problem: The board I currently own is from a stock Alienware rig I picked up a couple years back and I haven't changed it since my purchase. My current board only has one slot for 1 GPU and I'm looking to pick up a 2nd GTX 780 for when P3D v2.x eventually gets SLI support. So what I need help with is, should I put in this ASUS board I got from work and buy a 4770k or keep my existing 3930k and buy a board that has SLI support for my second GFX card that I am eventually getting. Which proc is better OC'd and which is better for simming? What would you do? I am leaving the office in a few hours and I know I will be picking something up lol
  9. First time posting in the hardware forum. Hoping some of the hardware gurus can take a look at the results below and offer feedback. I am getting some power interrupts when using graphic intensive programs. I installed Hardware Monitor. Here are the numbers during intensive activity. Anything out of the ordinary here?
  10. Hello everyone ! , So recently I've decided to start building my "First" ever PC Build , after struggling with my laptop for more than 3 YEARS ! anyway , I got a deal from someone to buy NZXT S340 case and Asus Z170-A ATX 1151 both for $215 , and yeah , they are almost new "used for less than 2 weak " , and the issue is that I will be finishing my build by June or July 2017 [ due to my financial position you can say ] ! so it means they are going to be settled-down for a long time , So is it a right decision to buy it now "as in a way of saving money" or just wait until I have the whole budget is in my hands and buy it all at once ? BTW , I will be purchasing it from Kuwait , is I'am not will sure that buying those stuff from the internet will be safe or not [ as i haven't purchased any hardware from the internet so far ] , so you have to keep in mind that the prices of those new products is increased by the shipping and Customs . [ the price of the case here is 85$ for the case and almost 215 for the motherboard NEW !! ] I know it might be complicated some how , but I really need to get convinced answer from you guys as most of you has some experiences with those stuff  Thanks in Advanced
  11. I had been experiencing a number of sudden issues with my hand-built FSX simulator and was pleased to discover that ASUS has released a new BIOS update which made reference to addressing certain issues between the ASUS BIOS and the GTX680 card (and by extension, I would presume the GTX690 cards as well). From the ASUS website: P8P67 PRO (REV 3.1) BIOS 3602 1.Improve compatibility with Windows 8 OS. << I'm not going there yet! 2.Improve system stability. <<< this is a VERY big improvement from what I can see in the early going! 3.Enhance compatibility with some USB devices. <<<< this made a huge difference with my VRinsight hardware! Especially after awakening from Hybrid Sleep Mode!!! 4. Fixed Nvidia GTX 680 hang when running with UEFI driver. <<< I would occasionally get hard system lockups with loud audio BUZZING sound through my speakers. I thought it was the CPU overheating - but now wonder if it were some kind of undocumented BUG with my nVidia GTX690 card and the ASUS motherboard. I figured load the new BIOS and so far the early indications are good. I am making a 3 hour flight KLAX to KDFW and cpu temps are averaging 59 C running 4.7ghz overclock just on Noctua DH-14 AIR COOLER (no liquid cooling!!) 5.Support new CPUs. Please refer to our website at: http://support.asus.com/cpusupport/cpusupport.aspx?SLanguage=en-us - I just have the 'old' i7 2600k. and some 1800mhz Corsair Vengeance Lo Profile 16GB total ram system appears rock solid with new Bios update even overclocked to a very high clock speed (multiplier 47 x 100). WARNING: You will need to reconfigure your entire system including overclocks and memory ram speed using the ASUS UEFI mouse-friendly BIOS following the upgrade to the new BIOS. You will need to reconfigure your boot drive sequence and other settings. Therefore, before you flash, go through the advanced BIOS screens and write down all your current settings. That way you won't have to re-engineer your BIOS SETUP. I flashed the Bios, then wondered why my machine would not boot... reason? I didn't have my SSD drive selected as the boot drive in the BIOS following the BIOS UPGRADE! DOH! For those using the ASUS P8P67 PRO rev 3.1 Motherboard- this new Bios recently release November 22, 2012 appears to be worth looking into from the viewpoint of improved stability and performance! Even though it doesn't appear ASUS is "SELLING" this motherboard any more - those of us who own it likely will want to consider pushing the new BIOS. ---- Usual admonitions apply about regular VERIFIED (Validated) backup before making major system updates, including THIS ONE!
  12. Hi folks, I was wondering if anybody has their cores with different levels of overclock running FSX ? eg Core 0 at 4.3GHz Core 1 at 4.6GHz Core 2 at 4.5GHz and Core 3 at 4.4GHz. What are the chances (if any) of data corruption ? Thanks
  13. Hey, So I have made a few posts about this in the past year or so, each time never actually making a buy. Now its for real. I will be getting a new computer for my birthday in the fall (September). I have about $1,200.00 USD dollars to spend, more on the lower side of $1,200.00. I know what I want, and what I need to run on this new computer, but I dont want to go overboard on things I dont need to, and skimp out on things I do need. I have a couple builds in mind. If I had my way I would build my own computer, but my parents are worried if I mess up there is no warranty or anything like that. Currently I am running the following disgusting specs on a Dell Vostro 1720: Intel Celeron @1.71Ghz 2GB RAM Integrated 500mb dedicated Motherboard Graphics 256GB Hard drive Integrated Motherboard Sound 1 55mm fan Intel Motherboard 17" screen Full keyboard Thats really all there is to it. I get an average of 4.5fps on FSX at the lowest settings, and can only run max 2-3 programs at once with the limited RAM. I own many many addons over $400.00 worth of them, but cannot use any of them because of my systems horrible capabilities. Now, which build should I get? I will show the specs of each below, but first let me tell you what I need to run on this new computer. AutoCAD Architecture 2014 Minimum Specs for 32-bit Windows: Windows® 8 Professional or Enterprise edition, Windows® 7 Enterprise, Ultimate, Professional, or Home Premium edition, or Windows® XP Professional or Home edition (SP3 or later) operating system Windows 7 or 8: Intel® Pentium® 4 processor or AMD Athlon™ dual-core processor, 3 GHz or higher with SSE2 technology Windows XP: Pentium 4 or Athlon dual-core processor, 1.6 GHz or higher with SSE2 technology 2 GB RAM (4 GB RAM recommended) 10 GB free disk space for installation 1,024 x 768 display with true color (1,600 x 1,050 or higher with true color recommended) 128 MB graphics card (256 MB or greater recommended) Pixel Shader 3.0 or greater, Microsoft® Direct3D®-capable-workstation-class 3D graphics card Microsoft® Internet Explorer® 7 or later web browser DVD drive (for installation only) Optional printer or plotter, digitizer, Internet access, and network interface card Minimum Specs for 64-bit Windows Windows 8 Standard, Enterprise, or Professional edition, Windows 7 Enterprise, Ultimate, Professional, or Home Premium edition, or Windows XP Professional (SP2 or later) AMD Athlon 64 with SSE2 technology, AMD Opteron™ processor with SSE2 technology, Intel® Xeon® processor with Intel EM64T support and SSE2 technology, or Pentium 4 with Intel EM64T support and SSE2 technology 2 GB RAM (4 GB RAM recommended) 10 GB free disk space for installation 1,024 x 768 display with true color (1,600 x 1,050 or higher with true color recommended) 128 MB graphics card (256 MB or greater recommended) Pixel Shader 3.0 or greater, Direct3D-capable-workstation-class 3D graphics card (supported graphics hardware) Internet Explorer 7 or later DVD drive (for installation only) Optional printer or plotter, Internet access, and network interface card I have been using this program for a couple years now at an office, and I have notices that it is a huge RAM and Graphics Hog. also, the files generated by it are very big usually about 20-50MB. Other Programs, besides the basic Word processor and Internet, etc are: Google Earth Google Sketchup zwCAD (very infrequently) FSCommander (latest version) VRC Teamspeak Skype Ok, I know alot of info, but the gist is, that I want to be able to get at least an average of 30 or more FPS in FSX with the settings at least halfway or more. I also want to be able to run all the addons I have. In AutoCAD I want to be able to render and do complex 3D operations smoothly, and I want to be able to run more the 2 programs simultaneously!!!! I need a serious Upgrade. Here are the builds I have found, lemme know which one I should take, or if I should modify anything: 1st one: Its from Bestbuy, right in my price range. Only thing I really dont like about it is that it has Windows 8. My friend has an unused copy of Windows 7 Ultimate that he is giving to me. Those are the only ones I have found, that I like that are in my price range. I really do not want to have to have AMD processors. Basically I want the best possible computer I can get for under ~$1,200.00 USD. Thanks! I know, its a long post!
