Thanks so much for all this info, looks like I will be getting rid of PTA+URP, keeping ReShade...question is should I uninstall reShade, install tomato and reinstall reshade? how do I make sure my ShadersHLSL folder is clean?

Been outta the loop for the last couple of months, doing a fresh install of p3d since some things are wonky - what is up with tomato shade/word on it/do you use it with URP and PTA and whatnot? Worth it? If I get it...what are the best presets out there for it too? thx.

Seems like the Kernellbase.dll is giving you trouble. Find it, try to move it to desktop and see if that works to fix the issue. If so then thats your issue. Also do a quick google search...looks like other people have had this issue: http://www.prepar3d.com/forum/viewtopic.php?t=125622 http://forum.aerosoft.com/index.php?/topic/118677-kernelbasedll-crash/ Also, the event viewer cannot generate its own reports - only what windows sends it. So it offers clues, but it may not be the exact reason p3d crashed.

If you can spend, the Samsung EVO960 is the best one out there. The samsung 850 EVO is also great, about 90$ USD

You can put P3D on the SATA, no problem, but you will get much better performance/speed with an SSD. Up to you though.

get a 1TB internal SSD. Do not get an external drive for FS/Sim stuff - you will have big issues. 500GB SSD minimum, that should last a while with P3D.

delete the .cfg file and restart it, see if that helps. If that does not help then try starting p3d, and check the event manager to see if there is anything going on error wise, or info you can gather. Also check the task manager when you start P3D, see if it is using CPU or other resources. If it is actively using resources, then it is starting but maybe something is preventing it from showing. Make sure there are no windows you need to click "OK" or something on, sometimes those block P3D. Also, check the main P3D folder...see if there are any folders or files recently installed that you do not recognize, or are not from the install date of P3D. try moving them out of the folder onto your desktop and then try starting p3d. If it starts, then you know the issue. Try uninstalling air manager...see if that helps. Otherwise, we need more info to help!

I get some jagged edges, but less visible when you zoom out. These are my settings, if that helps

I have a cyberpowerpc gaming laptop and am running p3dv4 with tons of addons/sliders right with amazing performance. YOu can see pics of my sim here: my laptop has GTX1080, 500gb ssd, 250gb ssd, cooling, intel i7 core extreme. Cyberpower is great and relatively cheap and highly customizable :)

OK...so I got all the ReShade and PTA, URP and P3D issues worked out with the help of the wonderful AVSIM forums. Been playing around with peoples presets, and I like all of them...to varying degrees...but having trouble settling in on one. So, take a look at the pics, and lmk what you like best! The presets are from either AviationLads (http://www.aviationlads.com/my-settings/), Pilot Pete (https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=10nPl-ydnBc), or the FlightBeam Visual Pack (http://flightbeam.net/forums/viewtopic.php?f=25&t=2647). In all of the presets I have my settings the same in P3D and am getting a solid 30-50fps on the ground with PMDG aircraft at FSDT JFK, and 40-60fps in the air. I have fps locked to 65 in the nVidia inspector tool. I can share my settings if you want. FlightBeam Preset Aviation Lads Cold Season preset Pilot Pete: My thoughts are that Aviation Lads and FlightBeam are the top contenders. Pilot Pete is good but a bit bland for me, although it looks much better in his pics I think thats cause he has tons of addon scenery like ORBX, etc, and does a lot of VFR low flying. LMK what you think! Also, if any of you know the settings to reduce the brightness on the sun hitting the aircraft without turning down overall sim brightness...lmk too :) Have a great rest of the weekend!

I fixed the issue, searched around online for a couple hours and found a post about someone who had the same issue. Renaming the dgxi files to d3d11 fixed the issue and now it works just fine :)
