  1. Hey guys! I just got enough money to buy myself a new motherboard (P67). I currently have a H67 (which doesnt support OC.). I have intel i7 2600K at 3.4ghz, AMD Radeon 6870, and 4BG ram. Right now if i use the pmdg 737 at paris charles de gaulle airport along with paris VFR scenery i will get 19-25 FPS and with and other plane around 25-30. So im thinking if i buy my new motherboard i will be able to overclock to 4.2 or 4.3ghz. Will this really improve my FPS? Because i plan on getting the pmdg 777 and that is going to be a HUGE FPS hog. I just dont want to waste my money on something that wont work. So if any of you can tell me if it will work that would be great. And also if you recomend some safe overclocking speeds that would be great! Thanks guys!
  2. Good evening Gents. I´m finally puting together my new rig and I have pretty much followed Ryan´s (and most other simmers) recommendations to the letter. I´ve decided on the following thus far: Intel Core i5-2500 Processor 3.3GHz 6 MB Cache Socket LGA1155 Western Digital Caviar Black 1 TB SATA III 7200 RPM 64 MB Cache Internal Desktop Hard Drive Bulk/OEM - WD1002FAEX Corsair Hydro Series H100 Extreme Performance Liquid CPU Cooler (CWCH100) Corsair DOMINATOR GT 8 GB (2x 4GB) PC3-15000 1866 MHz DDR3 Memory Kit for AMD and Intel Dual Channel Processors CMT8GX3M2A1866C9 EVGA GeForce GTX 570 1280 MB GDDR5 PCI Express 2.0 2DVI-I/Mini-HDMI SLI Ready Limited Lifetime Warranty Graphics Card, 012-P3-1570-AR Corsair HX Professional Series 750-Watt 80 Plus Certified Power Supply Compatible with Core i7 and Core i5 - CMPSU-750HX I basically don´t know which of the recommended MOBOs to get. Ryan said something about getting a MOBO based on the Intel p67 or Z68 chipset. And that those from ASUS and MSI are good and trustworthy. So what does this mean? Which one should I get? Is the rest of the system okay and overclockable? Thank you in advance.
  3. I am still loving the new machine I built but I am having two issues that I am looking for help on....I have not called in to Asus yet but may after the US holiday here. Issue #1 is I really want in the hot weather to put the system to sleep and then awaken it when I want to fly, work, photoshop whatever. I am finding that when I initially would put the system to sleep it would sleep.....blue LED slowly flashing....now if I put it to sleep it sleeps for 5 or 10 seconds and then comes back to life and stays running....not sure why....I imagine a USB device is waking it....may be my Gen1 Drobo? Issue #2 is when I fully shut down the system, and then return to use it and power it on I get he NVIDA Bios message then the Asus BiOS splash screen.....that splash screen used to come up for may be 15 seconds but now it holds there for about 1M 45 Seconds......drag. I have looked around on Asus' website and I have updated to the very latest BiOS with no effect so far. Any thoughts or suggestions? I plan to try the sleep rebot with various devices connected and see what happens and will add to the thread when I do.
  4. Hello, I am currently planning to enhance my FSX experience in a custom-built PC (homemade off course) and what I am thinking is a multi monitor set up with 3 1080p computer displays, with a joke, pedals, throttle quadrant, comm stack, and maybe one additional LCD display for instrumentation purposes. This is off course a rough draft because I am wondering what hardware selection would be best for this type of mini-cockpit set up. My budget is quite flexible but moderate. In that sense, this is the type of components that I am thinking in terms of hardware & software... 8GB RAM DDR3 1833MHz 3 1080p Displays + 1 display for instrument purposes. Saitek Pro Flight Joke + Throttle Quadrant Saitek Pro Flight Pedals with Toe Braking Saitek Pro Flight Comm Stack TrackIR 2 HDDs; 1TB for Windows OS (not sure whether to go 7 or 8) and 320GB for FSX. Microsoft Flight Simulator X Gold Edition SP2. 750W Power Supply These are the unknowns where I would gladly accept suggestions for hardware given my set up... Currently thinking of using a Haswell Motherboard (thinking of this candidate from GIGABYTE) and using the Core i7 4770k or Core i5 4670k. One last thought, given that we are talking about FSX, should I just go for the Core i5 4570? As for the GPU, I am actually unsure of which one to pick. I know that most of the agreement here at AVSIM is that the Nvidia GPU is the best one for FSX. Which Nvidia GeForce GPU do you guys recommend for a multi monitor set up for FSX? I am willing to accept an AMD wildcard suggestion because I have seen some YouTube videos showing FSX multi monitor set ups using AMD GPUs with their Eyefinity technology. That's all for the moment and I appreciate your answers and suggestions!
  5. Greetings! I am building a new PC. I have been away from Flight Sim for 3-4 years (pre Steam and pre p3d). My new build will be for FSX Steam, but I also do Photoshop and Video editing. I anticipate using FSX Steam, PDG 737, Orbix, Rex, most all of the goodies. I am guessing my system will be overkill for Flight Sim, but would like confirmation of that. I will be overclocking the CPU. This is my third build of a system. As I only build system every 4 years or so, I am going high end. I respect the contributors on AvSim and hope for some feedback. Thanks guys! This is my current wish list: CPU: Intel i7-6700 MSI Graphics Card GTX 980 gaming 4g ASUS ROG Maximus VIII HERO Motherboard 2 - Samsung 850 EVO 500GB 2.5 inch SSD G.Skill Ripjaws 16GB (2 x 8GB) DDR4 SDRAM EVGA SuperNOVA 850 Watt G2 80+ Gold Fractal Design Arc Midi R2 Mid Tower Case Corsair Hydro Series H100i GTX CPU Cooler Windows 10 Home 64 bit system builder OEM Don Maxwell
  6. Preparing for New Motherboard Hello, I’m planning for a new motherboard/CPU. SSD storage will not be changed. Is there a procedure to follow for Carenado planes prior to making the change? 7. I currently have the following specs on my PC: Motherboard: AsRock H97M Pro4 CPU: Intel i5-4690K overclocked to 4.4 GHz CPU Cooler: Cooler Master 120V Seidon GPU: Gigabyte GTX960 Windforce 2X 2GB RAM: PNY DDR3 16GB (4 x 4GB) @ 1333 MHz PSU: Corsair TX750 I recently purchased two sets of G.SKILL Ripjaws X Series 8GB (2 x 4GB) DDR3 RAM @ 2133 MHz. But I found out that my current motherboard only supports RAM clock speeds up to 1600 MHz. So I did some research and found a decently priced motherboard, which is the MSI Z97 PC Mate for $79.99 on Newegg. The question now is that should I keep the AsRock H97M Pro4 and try to overclock the RAM through the BIOS, or should I buy the MSI Z97 PC Mate and have the additional benefits? Thanks in advance.
  8. Hello everyone ! , So recently I've decided to start building my "First" ever PC Build , after struggling with my laptop for more than 3 YEARS ! anyway , I got a deal from someone to buy NZXT S340 case and Asus Z170-A ATX 1151 both for $215 , and yeah , they are almost new "used for less than 2 weak " , and the issue is that I will be finishing my build by June or July 2017 [ due to my financial position you can say ] ! so it means they are going to be settled-down for a long time , So is it a right decision to buy it now "as in a way of saving money" or just wait until I have the whole budget is in my hands and buy it all at once ? BTW , I will be purchasing it from Kuwait , is I'am not will sure that buying those stuff from the internet will be safe or not [ as i haven't purchased any hardware from the internet so far ] , so you have to keep in mind that the prices of those new products is increased by the shipping and Customs . [ the price of the case here is 85$ for the case and almost 215 for the motherboard NEW !! ] I know it might be complicated some how , but I really need to get convinced answer from you guys as most of you has some experiences with those stuff  Thanks in Advanced

  11. So, I've been enjoying my FSX computer for about a year now, and I feel that it now needs a refreshment. The current specs are as below: Motherboard: ASRock N68-VS3 FX CPU: AMD FX-4130 overclocked to 4.1GHz CPU Cooler: Cooler Master 120V Seidon GPU: EVGA GeForce GTX 650 1GB RAM: 8GB (4GB x2) DDR3 PSU: Dynex 520W ATX Power Supply I've saved up money since I bought this PC, and I was thinking about upgrading the CPU and the motherboard as well. After researching for the best parts in my budget, I came to this combination. New CPU: Intel i5-4960K @ 3.5GHz New Motherboard: Gigabyte GA-B85M-D3H or GA-H81M-HD3 Although I know that Intel i5's and i7's generally perform better over AMD equivalents, but I want to hear the opinions of others. Would the Intel i5-4960K perform better than the AMD FX-4130 without overclocking? Also, is this entire upgrade worth the cost (~$270)? Thanks in advance.
