I have got my low spec XP rig running pretty good after a year of constant experimenting w/ hardware, tweaks, and graphics settings. I am running Razer Gamebooster to hopefully kill non-essential backgrough programs. I can run a fairly consistent 18-24fps with my non-tubeliner aircraft. One thing still bothers me... I get occasional 1-2 second freezes. Is this what is referred to as "stutters" in the FSX world? Sometimes they seem to be related to an aircraft action such as adding flaps or changing the throttle setting but often they appear without any action on my part. Is this "stutter" most likely related to the Mobo or the graphics card or what? Thanks in advance for any advice on this problem. Every day is a learning experience for me. Obie

I got lot of good input online last night from various people from here on Digital Themepark Teamspeak server. [Thanks for that]That lead to me ordering my new system for FSX and X=Plane (and may be Prepare3D later) and my first build. Unfortunately Newegg voided the order last night after-hours because the cell phone number they have didn't match the home number the credit card company had (UGH)....I usually pay with PayPal on Newegg, but wanted this one on a credit card.....resubmitted first thing this AM and 4.5 hours and 2 calls to Newegg and they still haven;t verified the order despite paying their "Rush Order Fee". The only thing I changed really was I took out the Corsair Liquid cooler H80 that SpiritFlyer suggested because I caught this note as I reviewed the order this AM....that cooler "Requires a case with a rear or top 120mm fan mount". The case I like and have ordered (if Newegg EVER verifies my order) doesn't use a 120MM fan at the top, so I switched to the air cooler and compound below. If I were not already over-spending my budget by $400US, I would put a pair of SSD drives to boot from and run FSX on....at least I am buying a full tower with lts of room to do so later. I'll also add a 2nd DVD-R may be B/R and a panel for flash cards from cameras (SD, CF, etc). Anyway...if you have any words of wisdom for me on putting this bad boy together I'll appreciate them (as opposed to second guessing the choices I made ) I do have one question I suppose- since I have installed FSX Gold with Acceleration on my current desktop and my Laptop, do I need to de-register it or anything before installing it on this new beast? Or will I have to call them if reg fails? Not looking forward to dereg'ing and reinstalling all of Adobe CS5, Premiere Pro and After Effects but they should scream on here too I think... Thanks.....hoping they verify the darned order and ship this today. Thanks to SpiritFlyer and others for all their input and to Word Not Allowed and others for the great wrtie-ups. 1 x ASUS P8Z77-V LGA 1155 Intel Z77 HDMI SATA 6Gb/s USB 3.0 ATX Intel Motherboard 1 x Intel Core i7-2700K Sandy Bridge 3.5GHz (3.9GHz Turbo) LGA 1155 95W Quad-Core Desktop Processor Intel HD Graphics 3000 BX80623i72700K 1 x COOLER MASTER Hyper 212 EVO RR-212E-20PK-R2 Continuous Direct Contact 120mm Sleeve CPU Cooler Compatible with latest Intel 2011/1366/1155 and AMD FM1/AM3+ 1 x COOLER MASTER HTK-002-U1 Thermal Compound Galaxy 58NLH5DI5TXX MDT X4 GeForce GTX 580 (Fermi) 1536MB 384-bit GDDR5 PCI Express 2.0 x16 HDCP Ready SLI Support Multi-Display Video Card 1 x COOLER MASTER HAF 932 Advanced Blue Edition RC-932-KKN3-GP ATX Full Tower Computer Case with USB 3.0, Black Interior and Four Blue LED Fans-1x 230mm front 1x 230mm top 1x 230mm side and 1x 140mm rear 1 x COOLER MASTER Silent Pro Hybrid RS-850-SPHA-D3 850W Intel ATX 12V V2.3 & SSI EPS 12V V2.92 SLI Ready CrossFire Ready 80 PLUS GOLD Certified Modular Active PFC Panel Power Supply with Fan Control 1 x G.SKILL Sniper Series 8GB (2 x 4GB) 240-Pin DDR3 SDRAM DDR3 1866 (PC3 14900) Desktop Memory Model F3-14900CL9D-8GBSR 1 x Seagate Barracuda ST1000DM003 1TB 7200 RPM SATA 6.0Gb/s 3.5" Internal Hard Drive -Bare Drive 1 x Rosewill RTK-002 Anti-Static Wrist Strap 1 x Microsoft Windows 7 Home Premium SP1 64-bit - OEM 1 x ASUS DRW-24B1ST/BLK/B/AS Black SATA 24X DVD Burner - Bulk - OEM 1 x EA Mass Effect 3 Game Coupon (Free with the CPU in a bundle) 1 x 1 Year Replacement Extended Service Plan For Item# N82E16813131820

My current system is: AMD Phenom xII 945 Quad Core 3.0 Ghz Foxconn H-RS780-uATX Mobo ATI Radeon HD 4670 1GB 8GB DDR3 I've had an OK with experience with FSX so far. I REALLY like using my CaptainSIM B767 but it just absolutely murders my system and I average about 17 FPS in the virtual cockpit. What should my next step be? I've looked at upgrading the CPU to something that is 4.0Ghz+ but not sure how much that would help my situation. Maybe it's time to upgrade to an NVidia card that is $150+.. would like some honest opinions about where I should be in terms of my experience and what I should be targeting as far as a hardware upgrade. Please hold off on the Intel/AMD a really excited user comments, they get old. Should I be seeing better FPS with graphics on Ultra-High with my current system? Is it worth it for me to invest the $16 for the FSXBooster? So many questions... any help would be great. Thanks.

Hi guys, I know this topic has been discussed before but I can't quite find the answer I am looking for. People say Haswell processors work better than Ivy Bridge, but is it right when it comes to FSX or is it the other way around? The reason I am asking because an i7 4770K and i7 4820 costs same amount but the second one can be overcooked to 5.0 GHz and above where as the Haswell chip can only be over clocked to 4.3 Ghz I suppose. I am looking for high resolution with high frame rate so which processor I should go for? Many thanks, Ronnie

Hi! I have bought some stuff for my computer recently but i wonder if it will work together with the MOBO since i doesn't have a good one. My current rig is: i5 4670k OC 4.2 GHz GTX 660TI ASUS Z87-A Motherboard 16gb Ram CX 600 PW H60 Water cooler Now my question is: Will a i7 4790k work good with the mobo as long as the Power Supply? I will also attach a H80i Water Cooler for lower temp.. Do you thing i need to buy a new mobo? Cheers /Jacob

Greetings! I am building a new PC. I have been away from Flight Sim for 3-4 years (pre Steam and pre p3d). My new build will be for FSX Steam, but I also do Photoshop and Video editing. I anticipate using FSX Steam, PDG 737, Orbix, Rex, most all of the goodies. I am guessing my system will be overkill for Flight Sim, but would like confirmation of that. I will be overclocking the CPU. This is my third build of a system. As I only build system every 4 years or so, I am going high end. I respect the contributors on AvSim and hope for some feedback. Thanks guys! This is my current wish list: CPU: Intel i7-6700 MSI Graphics Card GTX 980 gaming 4g ASUS ROG Maximus VIII HERO Motherboard 2 - Samsung 850 EVO 500GB 2.5 inch SSD G.Skill Ripjaws 16GB (2 x 8GB) DDR4 SDRAM EVGA SuperNOVA 850 Watt G2 80+ Gold Fractal Design Arc Midi R2 Mid Tower Case Corsair Hydro Series H100i GTX CPU Cooler Windows 10 Home 64 bit system builder OEM Don Maxwell

Recently released BIOS update for usERS of ROG Maximus series. Looks like additional coding to support 5th gen I series 1150 processors. You are advised to update you VGA drivers as well should you plan on updating your CPU to the new Broadwell processor. Go to your support-driver download section on Asus website.
