  1. Hi, I've been doing quite a lot of research regarding best PC specs. for running P3D v3. I'm particularly unsure about the best CPU to be using. I have already found out the 4790k performs better under single core loads compared to the 6700k, is this true? Considering that P3D and FSX generally use a single core, I assumed that the 4790k would be the CPU to go for... However after doing some more research about the 6700k, it appears it is more efficient, uses less power... Unless I've missed any forum posts similar to this (apologies if I have), I can't seem to find any solid evidence about which of the two is best, specifically for P3D. Or is there another CPU that is best? Budget isn't an issue... Thanks for help Jonathan
  2. Hello everyone. I plan to build a new gaming pc for P3D, however i am extremely stuck in trying to find the right specs. I do not wish to spend anything over 450 pounds ($673) for my CPU and GPU, yet i am unsure which i should spend more on. I am looking for 30 fps at most airports with addon scenery. Does anybody know which is more important and / or has any specs recommendations? Yours Sincerely, Kamil Nasser
  3. I want to start flight simulator x and getting addons like GEX, REX, UTX Canada and wondering if my pc would run all those on like high graphics: flying stuff like vrs superbug and a boeing Specs: i7-3770 CPU 3.40ghz gtx 660 8gb ram windows 7 64-bit Hotas warthog g27 Also if there are any target profiles for hotas warthog for fsx would be appreciate also anyway i can get my g27 pedals as rudder i use them for dcs but cant figure it out for fsx and if u recommend what i start flying first like go from a small civilian aircraft like a cessna to what? Sorry for all the questions i just want to know so much and i play alot of dcs just want to try to get into civilian flying also so if i like it i will be getting a saitek yoke system. for REX what do i get for my system rex essentials plus with overdrive or just rex essentials plus? what is difference? Add me on steam if u would like to tell me in a chat or if u are confused by my post: steam: Zombiescu (the one with f-18 picture)
  4. Would these computer specs work well in fsx (thinking of building a custom pc) Intel i7 3770K (3.5 Ghz 3.9 Ghz Boost) Asus P8P67 Deluxe Motherboard EVGA 760Ti 2 gb Graphics card 200gb SSD 8GB DDR3 Memory 850 Watt Power Supply I am still deciding on a case, any recommendations are welcome
  5. 40 years old and I finally have my first 1st Gaming PC after years of console gaming. Even after reading forums and watching YouTube videos I'm struggling on what settings I should be using and where (NVIDIA Control Panel, in-game, etc) to maximize the quality/graphics in game but also have useable performance. I was hoping some of you more experienced simmers and PC enthusiasts wouldn't mind giving me some advice or guidance on where to start and what to try. For starters, with the specs below should I even be trying to play at 1440p? Should I be focusing on 1080p and go max settings there and wait for 1440p until I upgrade to say a 3090? SPECS: Intel i-5 12400F MSI RTX 3050 Aero ITX 8GB 16GB T-Force Vulcan Z DDR4 3200hz (16-20-20-40) 2x8GB ASUS Prime B660M-A D4 1TB M.2 (Windows & MSFS on same drive) I'm already planning on buying 2 more 8GB sticks of RAM so I have 32GB total by the way. Just having issues finding the same mhz and timing in the same color currently. Thanks in advance!
  6. Hey guys! I'm planning on buying a new computer, partly for Prepar3d (v2.5, going to be upgraded). I was thinking about following components, as I'm still on a certain budget: - Intel i7 6700K - Asus Z170-K Mainboard - GeForce GTX 960 4GB - 250 GB Samsung SSD - 1 TB Hard Drive - 600W PSU - Water Cooling. Cost: €1100. My main concerns are the GPU and the mainboard. I want to play P3d with addons like the Aerosoft A318/319 or A2A GA Aircraft on high settings with at least 30 pfs, among that I will also use the PC for CAD work, video editing and music production. Therefor the question: Should I invest in like a GTX970 (which is even older than the 960) or even the Radeon RX 480? And is the mainboard capable of handling it all? Also: Is 600 Watts enough power for the system? Thanks in advance for your help! Kris
  7. This is my first post here. Recently, my flight sim PC died on me. I have narrowed down the cause to the CPU, Motherboard and GPU, I will be taking the RAM and PSU in for testing soon after my own tests (Which i have already done. Here is my goal: I plan to run P3D v3 on this new rig while getting roughly +40 FPS and still have a nice looking sim. I will be running the PMDG 777, Aerosoft A320 (And a330 whenever it gets released), Active Sky Next, FlyTampa Sydney, ORBX Australia, ORBX Ireland, PrecipitFX, REX Soft Clouds, and some more scenery. Here are the specs that i currently have planned: Intel Core i5 4690k Devils Canyon 3.5GHZ Gigabyte GeForce GTX 960 4GB GDDR5 ASUS Sabertooth Z97 Crucial BX100 500GB SSD Windows 10 I have heard stories about people having higher specs and getting horrid performance, i'm paranoid i'll be like them. So would this be good enough to run P3D with those addons and what should i have my settings set to to get the best performance and best look?
  8. Hey everyone. Just wanted to run these specs by Avsim users and get some input on the performance I can get out of these specs. i will be running FSX and P3D with aircraft such as the PMDG 737/777 as well as sceneries such as ORBX and FlyTampa. This is the hardware I'm planning to purchase for this system: i7 4790k (I most likely won't OC for the time being) Cooler Master Hyper 212 EVO GeForce Gtx 960 2GB 8 GB DDR3 and a Corsair 600W power supply to run it all. Will this system perform well? I'm ok with 25-30 fps even with FSX/P3D not 100% maxed out. I also am restrained on the budget, as this system would cost me under $900 at the moment and I wold like to not go far over that.
  9. I can't ever finish flight because my computer can't handle it anymore and crashes after 2 hours. I only run PMDG 737 ngx as an addon for fsx nothing else. Why can't my PC survive for more than 2 hours of FSX? How can I upgrade my computer so it can run for long hauls(15 hours) once I get the PMDG 777-300? My PC specs: GPU: AMD Radeon HD 7570 RAM: 8 GB CPU: Intel i5 3570K @3.40 GHZ System type: 64 Bit operating system on a windows 8 Number of processor cores: 4 Storage: 1861 GB (1739 GB free, barely anything) My PC rating in system settings(base score): 5.9 Processor: 7.8 Ram: 7.8 Graphics: 6.7 Gaming Graphics: 6.7 Primary hard disk: 5.9 PC SPECS IN MORE DETAILED VIEW: System Manufacturer Hewlett-Packard Model h8-1427 Total amount of system memory 8.00 GB RAM System type 64-bit operating system Number of processor cores 4 Storage Total size of hard disk(s) 1861 GB Disk partition (C:) 1739 GB Free (1841 GB Total) Disk partition (D:) 3 GB Free (21 GB Total) Media drive (I:) CD/DVD Graphics Display adapter type AMD Radeon HD 7570 Total available graphics memory 5857 MB Dedicated graphics memory 2048 MB Dedicated system memory 0 MB Shared system memory 3809 MB Display adapter driver version 8.981.0.0 Primary monitor resolution 1920x1080 DirectX version DirectX 11 or better
  10. Hello guys, so the time has come and I need a new computer. I kind of know what's good and what's not, but not if the parts will work well together. I don't know if I will overclock, it really depends how fsx is running and what you guys can recommend. Also I have no idea of motherboards, what ram or cooler to take. What I know, is that my budget is at around ~1000€. And the parts I would like to have in it are : I7-4770k Nvidia GTX 770 1 TB harddrive for other stuff and a 250gb ssd for fsx Even those parts can be changed if you advise me to, I'm kind of a noob when it comes to pc parts right now. Thanks for you help, I appreciate it!! Greets from Germany!
  11. Hi All, I have been stopping myself to post a message in the forum hoping I could do something about my framerate in FSX by myself but I have not managed to do that. So here I am ! Here are my specs : I7 930 overclocked to 4ghz. 12GB ram GTX 480 (Asus). ASUS P6TX58 Addons : PMDG 737 (obviously ) REX overdrive (no essentials) Active Sky 2012 ORBX YMML (for the test) ENB Series (I have issue with that one. I can fly using it but I get black screen when I access the menu/use replay etc.. especially when I fly in high details area/by night or other stressing situation for the computer) FPS Limiter (same as above, I suspect it's coming from the d9d3.dll and my graphic card, they don't like each other so I tend to deactive both of them). I deleted the FSX.cfg and use the online tool (Venetubo) and that's about it. I've also used Nvidia inspector and use the 4S configuration. (for anti aliasing and anisotropic selected in FSX, framerate unlimited) Frame rate at YMML on active runway : 15-18fps. Autogen : normal My first question is : is that a common framerate ? If yes, well too bad for me I might need another machine. if no, is there anyone with pretty much the same config that could share some tips with me ? I love this plane and would like to enjoy it as much as it deserves it. That would be much appreciated. Thank you and let me know if you need more info. Sylvain.
  12. Hi there, I'm planning on upgrading my PC but I have developed some un-certainty as to whether the setup will run together. First are my current specs the second are the specs I'm planning on achieving; Current Setup; Intel i3-2120 @3.30GHz 8GB RAM (no idea what brand!) Asus P8H61-MX MOBO 300W PSU (I believe it is anyway!) Intel HD 2000 Graphics (inbuilt GPU thingy!) Windows 7 Home Premium 64bit The specs I'm hoping to achieve; Intel i3-2120 @3.30GHz 8GB RAM (keeping the same RAM) Asus P8H61-MX MOBO (keeping same MOBO to!) CoolerMaster 650Watt GX Bronze Gaming PSU (this is powersupply some guy on youtube had with same MOBO as me) Nvidia GTX560 Ti 1GB Graphics Card Windows 7 Home Premium 64bit What I'm wondering is; Will the 2nd Setup work together fine?, this is more of a tech nerd post than an FSX post, at least I hope it is I'm hoping FSX will run pretty smooth on the new setup all being well if it works! I'm kinda hoping to avoid upgrading the processor as they can be quite pricey and kinda figured it would be cheaper to get a grahics card instead! Also if anyone has information about FSX running the GTX 560 Ti with the i3-2120 please let me know, I haven't been able to find any information about this setup for FSX on the internet so if anyone can spread light I would greatly appreciate it! Oh, I'm also planning on playing other PC games on this setup such as Battlefield 3 and GTA IV, does anyone know if those will run nicely on the new setup? The pics are what I'm dreaming to acheive!!!
  13. I am looking to upgrade my computer more spending about $300 My current specs are: Dell Inspiron 620 Intel i5 at 3.2 GHZ 8 GB DDR3Ram 1TB HDD EVGA Nvidia GTX 750TI 2GB Should i consider looking at a new motherboard that can hold two graphics cards due to that i am looking at multi monitor setup, and what would be better nvidia surround, or would a triplehead2go still alow the use of the other ports on the graphics card, what would be worth upgrading? I have the following payware aircraft PMDG 737,777 Aerosoft Airbus X Extended And use the following weather addons REX4Texture Direct, and ASN I currently get 25-40 FPS
  14. Hello, Before buying a new computer for FSX, I wanted to ask if the i5-2500k and the Gtx 560 are good enough to get approximately 20 frames/second in the pmdg 777 on an addon airport like Aerosoft EDDB or any other airport in UK2000. I know tweaks are necessarily and I will surely overclock my cpu to at least 4.2 ghz. Every comment is appreciated !
  15. Just bought a laptop for college. It's an HP Envy 15, more specifically the 15t-j100. Gaming was not a priority really, but something I'd like to do if it's capable. Here are my specs 4th Gen Intel Core i7-4700MQ quad core (don't know much about computers, but Intel says it's 2.4ghz with turbo boost up to 3.4) 8gb DDR3 RAM nvidia geforce 840m 2gb 1 TB HDD Don't know if I'm posting this in the right place, but thanks in advance for any help.
  16. I cannot play fsx with max setting with any addon aircraft and get more then 20 fps any help?
