The whole assumption by the media that anyone using a flight simulator is a criminal using it for nefarious purposes is beyond ridiculous. MSN.com had an article asking why a pilot would need a flight simulator, seriously? Could it be because he enjoys flying so much that he wants to do it in his free time like the rest of us? Then you read the comments section and you realize just how strange people think it is that anyone would want to use a flying simulator. Comments suggesting that simulators should be illegal and banned from private use... What the hell is wrong with people? What I have gathered from all this is if you have a hobby that is considered niche, you are probably a criminal or a terrorist. That's what society thinks anyway.

Seems you missed the boat, Steam has TS2014 on sale various times throughout the year. Before the game got popular a few years back it would be on sale for around $4. Now when its on sale its more like $20, yearly updates (not routes) are free though so that's good.

I had one of the memberships from before and wisely downloaded everything I could. I cant make heads or tails of the new site, nothing makes sense. My old account doesn't work, although I guess according to a previous comment I just need to contact them. Even though the old site was pretty dated looking, it was at least easy to tell what everything was. I think I'm going to just switch over to FSGlobal though, since I want to use FTX Vector and as far as I know, it doesn't work with FSGenesis.

Considering the crazy amount of cash Ive spent on payware planes, theres no chance I would be spending any FSX time playing the low quality default planes.

Thats strange, I use Nvidia Surround and I have no issues with the Mustang or any other add on plane.

Been using ENB all this time, looking forward to giving this a shot.

Not that simple. Those games arent running thier own authentication servers to keep the game alive.

Difference is, open market and constant influx of new content for FSX, locked up market and no new content for Flight. Who in their right mind would buy any part of Flight a year from now knowing there will never be anything new for it. When sales start drying up theres really no incentive for them to continue selling it or maintain the servers.

Considering the fact that creating MSFS11 would mean Microsoft would have to admit they were wrong, I'm sad to say theres pretty much zero chance of another Flight Simulator project coming from them for the forseeable future. Or at least not until we all forget about this debacle.

I imagine you would also have issues with visible different shades of tiles of the google map textures that are taken at different times. I think it would probably look kind of ugly depending where you are flying. You also wouldn't have seasons.

This is really cool, hopefully they can get it out of there before the locals scavange it into nothing.

I tried something similar yesterday, I was trying to figure out what was up with my FPS. Out of frustration I put all my sliders to the left and I my FPS went lower instead of higher so i dont know whats going on.

You probably should have asked how effective is AFM in correcting airport plateaus. Soon as you mention a mesh protuct name like FSGenesis or FSGlobal thats all people see and they will ignore anything else. Personally, Id like the answer to this question too.

Wow, this is the best news Ive heard all day!

This addon is so invaluable to me, I use it all the time. I love that I can tell it how long I want a flight to be and then it will give me a flight plan for approx that duration. The grading is pretty nice too and the dev constantly releases updates, so you know its an activly improving piece of software.

Can you elaborate on that?

I have the exact same dilemma, I have been planning to buy AFM for a while now but just havent done it. I usually rather spend the money on another plane or scenery :)

Another vote for FSGenesis, I say give it a shot when its on sale I dont think youll regret it.

That comparison certainly looks promising. I fear it will probably be 5 more years before they can do anything flight sim worthy with the engine though. Of course, I hope I'm wrong.
