  1. Version 1.5.1 out. Haven't had a chance to try on FSX yet. http://www.guru3d.com/files_details/sweetfx_shader_suite_download.html
  2. Looks nice! I will definitely give this one a try since I am also a DX10er. Thanks for sharing!
  3. Thanks. I will try it out. Does anyone notice a difference between the way SFX looks with DX9 vs. DX10? I feel like a lot of the settings that FSX'ers developed with DX9 and look great in pictures, tends to look different under DX10.
  4. Looks great! Is this DX9 or DX10?
  5. Got a good SFX configuration you'd like to share, PDX?
  6. DX10 is the ONLY mode I can get it to work in. Check your installation routine or your the settings you used. Perhaps something is out of whack.
  7. New version out. (1.4) http://forums.guru3d.com/showthread.php?t=376265 Changelog Version 1.4 Adds the Border shader as a workaround for the bright screenedge forcing certain AA modes can cause Adds the Cartoon shader that can make the image look more cartoonish Adds the Advanced CRT shader that can mimic the look of an old arcade CRT display Adds the Monochrome shader that removes the colors Adds the FXAA shader as an alternative to SMAA for the few people that still prefer it. (only in DX9 for now though) Improved the Curves shader so it can now apply contrast to Chroma as well as Luma (as before) or both Improved the performance of formula 5 in the Curves shader (the simplified Catmull-rom spline) Improved the Dither shader with the option to use Random Dithering. Improved the Dither shader so now uses a subpixel dithering pattern. (Both when using Random or Ordered Dithering) Lowered the default SMAA threshold to 0.10 so fewer aliased lines escape processing. Fixed a bug where dark areas could on occasion appear when HDR and Lumasharpen where both activated at the same time. The alpha channel is now cleared before outputting the image to prevent it messing with screenshots converted to png. The SweetFX settings file now include a description field to help keep of which version the settings are for. Improved the Vignette shader to allow you to create oval shaped vignettes. Curves_formula 2 is now the default Curves formula. Includes some notes on how you can make custom shaders
  8. Pre Alpha release of SweetFX just dropped here According to the post here it includes: New (incomplete) features: FXAA - only works in DX9 so far and I need to tweak it for quality. You guys can help here by finding good default values for it. An incomplete cartoon shader Border shader for making the screenedges black The dither shader now does subpixel dithering, which makes it look slightly smoother There are more features planned for the final 2.0 version. Remember, this is a pre-alpha so expect issues and problems but some may want to play with it. Good to see that the dev is still working on it.
  9. This might help. (Sweetfx configurator) http://sweetfx.thelazy.net/
  10. You are not the first person in this thread to indicate that they use that method for their FSX experience.
  11. I will be the first to admit that what the various injectors produce may not be the closest thing to reality but I also think that FSX's representation of reality (at least as far as visuals are concerned) are driven somewhat by what the sim is capable of producing. For me, using sweetfx is like cleaning a dirty windscreen that is FSX visuals. Can cloud cover and fog, etc. reduce visibility? Sure. But I just don't like the blander, less vibrant colors that default FSX produces any more than I like the jaggies that a non-anti-aliased scene results in. As far as what you are missing, I think an argument could be made that these tools have a wider variety of adjustments and effects than the Nvidia control panel does. Not only that, but I am not a fan of having to adjust my screen output every time I play FSX. I use my computer for a multitude of things and, once adjusted, sweetfx (and the like) is just more "plug and play" for me. It only affects FSX. Not the output of everything on the computer. Bottom line is: Why don't you give one of these tools a try? I don't think the screen shots really give you a proper example of what it looks like in the sim. They are fairly easy to install and remove and there are plenty of settings in various threads to get you started. It is certainly a matter of personal taste but at at least you could see what all the fuss is about. Good luck either way.
  12. That look great! I will try those settings out soon. Are you using anything else besides Sweetfx?
  13. I see. That is unfortunate. If I can find anything that might help, I will let you know. Good luck
  14. Why don't you like DX10 mode?
  15. I definitely see a difference. I did not change the SMAA settings in your file. Just enabled it. Makes things sharper for me. Also adds a little contrast. I am running DX10 preview. Maybe that is a difference. (I think you forgot to turn off the split screen in the daytime one, too.) I haven't tried your night version yet. Daytime version looked fine at night to me. Will try it later. Thanks again for sharing.
