March 22, 201214 yr ......and I've been on the scene for over 10 years. :smile:Ok, this may sound like an advert, but I have nothing to do with the developer of this addon, other than I purchased it (half-heartedly) last evening and have to say this really is one of the best addons I have ever bought for FSX:-Ideal Flight 10, for FSX, by Codelegendhttp://secure.simmarket.com/aidata-limited-ideal-flight-10.phtml#reviewsThis is just an amazing front end for FSX. I had passed this product over for a long time, because I was wrongly getting mixed up between Ideal Flight and Perfect Flight (the first being this amazing program, and the second being a developer of really mediocre addons).Rather that list everything that Ideal Flight can do, just take a look at the page above (or the Codelegend website). But this is what I love about this program:-- One click from in't external interface and it generated a full FSX flight, with weather fuel load, flight plan and so much more.- It's Flight Planner alone is amazing and can generate for example VFR flight plans that avoid controlled airspace, and other advanced features.- For Flight Plans, at the click of a button, you can add 'approach' waypoints, that basically give you GPS approaches for ANY airport in FSX.- It has a weather engine that it more efficient than FSX but with superior visuals, it uses real world metars.- It can generate random destinations for you to fly to, for given criteria, like aircraft type, and time available.- When you create a flight, it pulls together a 'briefing' which contains EVERYTHING you need to know form ILS freqs, to fuel, to runways, to radio freqs, to alternate airports, etc, etc, etc, and place all of this in the FSX kneeboard, so it's all to hand within your flight. There are a half dozen other features that I haven't even touched yet, but suffice to say I won't be looking at the FSX free flight menus ever again, as this program replaces it, but with 10,000% more functionality and enjoyment!Trust me, this one is on par with FSX essentials like REX, Accu-Feel, FSUIPC. It's 30 Euros but worth every penny to me, as I will use it every time I am in FSX.Could not recommend this more highly!Cheers....boy I wish the 'edit' function was working on the forum, so I could correct all of the typos caused by my excitement! Also, correct link for this brilliant program is:- http://secure.simmarket.com/aidata-limited-ideal-flight-10.phtml:( David. >> i7 2600k, 3.4Ghz, (3.8Ghz TurboBoost), 8GB DDR3 RAM, ATI HD 5770 1GB, Win 7 Home Premium 64bit. >> FSX, REX, GEX, UTX, Orbx FTX AU, NZ, US, FlyTampa, UK2000 Xtreme, PMDG, RealAir, MilViz, (some) Carenado, Flight 1, Simcheck "%20alt=
March 22, 201214 yr Thanks for that, Stick..I have been looking at this, spesh as it now takes me longer to create and setup a flight with NGX/EFB/ASE2012/RC4 than it does actually flying it (unless I'm ponding it)will check it out..bestjake JAKE EYREIt's a small step from the sublime to the ridiculous...Napoleon Bonaparte

Anything that helps with that workload would be a good thing. It's a pity there isn't a time limited demo though, I'd like to try it out first. I am spending FAR too much on add-ons. Anthony O'Brien

March 22, 201214 yr :) You answered my next question , Bryan..Installing it right now!bestjake JAKE EYREIt's a small step from the sublime to the ridiculous...Napoleon Bonaparte
March 22, 201214 yr Has anyone used it with AC that have their own loading/fueling options, specifically NGX?bestjakep.s It has a few more limitations than the amount of times one can use it..You can't search, create profiles and a few other bits & pieces..Still going..will report back in a day or two JAKE EYREIt's a small step from the sublime to the ridiculous...Napoleon Bonaparte
March 22, 201214 yr This addon is so invaluable to me, I use it all the time. I love that I can tell it how long I want a flight to be and then it will give me a flight plan for approx that duration. The grading is pretty nice too and the dev constantly releases updates, so you know its an activly improving piece of software.
March 22, 201214 yr It has a weather engine that it more efficient than FSX but with superior visuals, it uses real world metarsThis is something that has not been part of the initial release. Are you sure it uses real world METARS? More or less the weather concept the authir uses excludes real world METAR updates as you fly. It is also not part of the description on the webpage. Can you please confirm or deny this again? Thanks,Alex
March 22, 201214 yr Commercial Member Are you sure it uses real world METARS?Hello and thank you stick for your support and thanks to all the Ideal Flight supporters here, quite a few have had some input or other to help get IF fleshed out with the right set of features it has today. The question about the weather. Ideal Flight does not download aerodrome weather reports, but instead runs a global weather simulation offline. The simulation creates metars for any part of the world, not just where there are aerodrome weather stations. The metars worry about the terrain and regulate the atmosphere from the ground all the way up through jet streams and to the edge of space. A thermal air currents, deflections, and ground effects engine adds interest to all weather engines, REX and ASE included, these effects work on any aircraft, not just gliders, and there's a special mode for helicopters.Ideal Flight is a huge project and although extremely complex is coming together nicely. Look out for version [rp] soon. More news later...Best regards to all,Stevecheck the report page on the site:http://www.codelegen...ight/report.htmhere's a shot from my gallery at FSN showing contrails from IdealFlight Ai traffic, no other addons:http://www.flightsim.../7040-contrail/Another special feature of IF - you can see your parked aircraft where you left them wherever you go in the world:http://www.flightsim...th-idealflight/http://www.flightsim...th-idealflight/ Steve Waite: Engineer at codelegend.com
March 22, 201214 yr Author My 'bad' on the Metar claim ..... what I can say is that on any given flight, you will really notice the development and progression of weather changes, as you fly along your route. And it's much smoother and more realistic than with the standard FSX weather. Also, I flew with I.F. today and noticed that it also does something excellent with AI! .............. I just flew from EGNC (Carlisle) and was number 3 for take-off ....... in front of me was a Carenado Centurion on IFR to Newcastle, and a default FSX Ultralite flying VFR....... That, I have never seen!Just an amazing 360 degree program that improves so many aspects of FSX. :( David. >> i7 2600k, 3.4Ghz, (3.8Ghz TurboBoost), 8GB DDR3 RAM, ATI HD 5770 1GB, Win 7 Home Premium 64bit. >> FSX, REX, GEX, UTX, Orbx FTX AU, NZ, US, FlyTampa, UK2000 Xtreme, PMDG, RealAir, MilViz, (some) Carenado, Flight 1, Simcheck "%20alt=

March 22, 201214 yr Commercial Member Carenado Centurion on IFR to NewcastleI've got various traffic addons and I choose those aircraft for Ai as they are frame rate friendly. The FSX stock aircraft are all quite good for Ai traffic too regarding performance. Select IF Ai traffic on the Flight Gen page. You may have to be careful if you choose addon aircraft for the Ai Traffic, some have reported seeing aircraft flying backwards! Steve Waite: Engineer at codelegend.com
March 23, 201214 yr I also recently purchased Ideal Flight 10 and have been enjoying it immensely. It adds so much to the FSX experience and makes you feel like you are really owning and flying your aircraft. Some of the features which I think are very cool that may not been mentioned so far include ...1) Specific monitoring of various airplane systems with failures, or the increased probability of failures, as a result of not managing them correctly.2) Managing your various aircraft and the ability to leave them parked where you left them3) Ability to start your flight in a Cold and Dark state4) Extra AI traffic in the air and on the ground that seems to have very little effect on FPSI definately would recommend this add-on and particularly for GA flyers
March 23, 201214 yr This topic is suspiciously the same as the topic started maybe a year ago.. where the person also said "best addon ive bought" and listed the exact same advantages :POr maybe its just that good John doe
