OpenVFR problem with lake coastlines
Hello there, Anybody out there is using OpenVFR? It is a great little addon I just installed for France and the scenery is really better for VFR flying. I prefer this to UTX. However I just realized that something was wrong with my lakes and rivers - the coastlines simply disappeared. In short they are ugly. The OpenVFR website tells about some known issue 'water polylines do not display' however I do not know if it is the same issue compared to what I see (or rather do not see) Can some other user please confirm if you have coastlines around rivers and lakes just like in default or UTX? Thanks a lot, Alex

I've chosen
I am sorry mate but as a long time Xbox gamer I can confirm you that you are in for a great surprise: Gamerscore buys you nothing. Nada. Zilch. I cannot put it any other way. The link you show is about the achievements and how many gamerscores they each bring. This can never ever be converted to real money or MS points. Ever. So I hope you are having fun too because you are plain wrong with your thinking.Alex

Is there an easy fix?
Nick in Simforums has two downloads called FSX enhanced autogen. That was the thing I was referring to. I am quoting the known issues readme about this. You are right that the problem itself was not caused in any fashion by GEX.We have identified a single issue in which FSX renders a gable roof texture over some flat roofs from time to time. There appears to be an error in the FSX code for FLAT ROOF calls through the regionalization system which changes autogen based on where it displays in the world. So far the only area the issue appears is in the regions mentioned below. Unfortunately there is no solution to fix through changes to the textures because removal or moving the gable autogen roof texture would damage all the gable roof houses. It was not easy to spot before the textures were enhanced however after the enhancement process the out of place texture is easier to see. There is an image in this directory which shows what this issue looks like in the sim. I marked the image where the issue appearsPlease review it.Please be aware this issue is NOT caused by this autogen texture enhancement package and the same problem is present in FSX default. The gable roof error seems to only appear in these areas:North America, northern areas especially the northeastEurope in central and northern areasWe have not seen the problem display anywhere else.It does not appear everywhere or on all flat roof buildings.Unfortunately we do not have the time to try and find the source of the problem in FSX and correct it.No other issues are noted.Carry on,Alex

Is there an easy fix?
This is a well known problem with GEX - not sure if Orbx has anything to do with it. If I recall it has more to do with NickN's autogen fix that is separaately downloadable from Simforums. Quoting from Simforums though the last GEX patch should have fixed most of it.'Autogen roof errors where the sim shows a ‘gable’ rooftop instead of a ‘flat’ roof has been corrected by 98% in the coverage area. You may see a few of these here and there but nothing like default.'Seems like you found the remaining 2 percent. Alex

Permanently restricting visibility in FSX
I read that IF can take the METAR from any actual METAR report and apply it to the departure and desination airports. I do not know what it does inbetween though. What about my other question regarding seeing the metar riport as you fly into weather and the overcast depiction?

Permanently restricting visibility in FSX
Thanks - great response! I am torn between trying this or Ideal Flights weather... How close the weather is to real actual METARS? Is there some way to check or display the METAR as you are flying into the zone of a new weather station? How are overcasts from above and below? And finally I heard it updates weather every 5 minutes - does it make your flights unnecessarily stuttery? Thanks again and sorry for bothering you with so many unnecessary questions. I know I could try it myself but I am really interested in your related experiences.Alex

Permanently restricting visibility in FSX
Hey Stick,So what do you think of Open Clouds after a few days using it? Still enthousiastic? I have been using FSRealWX but I do not like it that much especially for the reasons you described: unlimited visibility above 5000 AGL and the empty patches where global weather is set with its clear skies. So what do you think?thanks,Alex

AirNav.com FltPlan.com <--- but for Europe/UK?
www.rocketroute.comThere is also a wonderful iPad version which automates all the Eurocontrol downloads and is free to use. This includes most (but not all European countries)Cheers,Alex

So in the end you are not using Ideal Flights weather after all?

Probably .... the best addon I've ever bought
Hi, can you please elaborate a bit on the flightplanner functionality? How does it relate to other similar softwares such as VRoute, PlanG or FS Build. Is it Navigraph updatable? Does it contain all intersections, etc?Does it show the created plan on Google Maps? Thanks,Alex

Probably .... the best addon I've ever bought
This is something that has not been part of the initial release. Are you sure it uses real world METARS? More or less the weather concept the authir uses excludes real world METAR updates as you fly. It is also not part of the description on the webpage. Can you please confirm or deny this again? Thanks,Alex

FS Global Ultimate - Your Thoughts?
OK so where do you see the AFM tool sold separately for 29.90? I always thought it was exclusively bundled only with the ultimate product. Is there a download version? Is it user friendly and straightforward to use? Thanks,Alex
