March 30, 201214 yr After being very disappointed with the Japanese warbird, I decided to do some flying in FSX. I had it with MS Flight. But even though I could now enjoy TrackIR again and the awesome Bay Tower RV7, something was missing... A certain, atmosphere... Light... FSX looked old (while flying about Orbx's New Zealand). So this afternoon I decided to start both FSX and MS Flight and switch between them al the time. I set them both to a similar time and weather and off I went. It didn't take long before I noticed I spend more time in MS Flight... Whenever I was flying in FSX I thought about the shadows and colors of MS Flight. And whenever I was flying in MS Flight I though about... how much I liked what I saw....Yes, I do miss TrackIR (even though I sometimes get annoyed by the fact I have to re-center it all the time in FSX), and yes, the Bay Tower RV7 is so much nicer to fly then the MS RV6 (mainly due to the terrible joystick support which makes me fly more and more with the mouse in order to enjoy my flights...) but it has something that FSX doesn't have. The mood, the colors, the fog... not to mention the shadows at dawn or dusk...So.. I just bought the Maule. It's downloading as I type. I've chosen MS Flight. For the moment. Bring on Alaska!!!P.S. I know I don't have to chose! I know I can use both, but somehow that doesn't work for me. Not at all... Maybe when I want to fly an airliner I'll be back to FSX, but for GA... MS Flight all the way. Even if it's only above Hawaii.
March 30, 201214 yr So.. I just bought the Maulegood choice IMHO.I am right now chasing the achievements, goal is to earns enough XP (these MS money equivalents) that I can maybe get the zero 'for free', I won't buy it with real money ibut if I can get it with funny money, maybe... I'll see in which mood I am once I got these 560XP... Phil Leaven i5 10600KF, 32 GB 3200 RAM, ASUS 4070 12GB EVO, Asus ROG Z490-H, 2 WD Black NVME for each Win11 (500GB) and MSFS (1TB), Rolling Cache 16GB, Photogrammetry always OFF, Live Weather and Live Traffic always ON, Res 2560x1440 on 27"
March 30, 201214 yr Did the same (but bought the RV instead of the Maule) and maybe it's because I'm using only photoscenery, but FLIGHT looks IMHO more cartoonish. The lighting effects seem to be way overdone especially during night (shadows being casted like in daylight!) or early sunrise. Everything is very colorful and bright. Color saturation, just everything seems to be a bit too much...
March 30, 201214 yr Yes, I think as well. In the meantime, hawaii has become too small. As new aircraft bring nothing. So slowly, I hope also alaska. Thus you can me long time quietly make. March 30, 201214 yr Yes, I have the "same problem" :-)Actualy, even though I still "love" Condor (the soaring sim) and even though I am monitoring the evolution with Prepar3d, the recent incursion intoanother well konown sim made me return rapidly to MS FLIGHT....There is a misterious ambience in FLIGHT, a simplicity, smoothness, sense of being there, that I simply can't find in other simulators (not military, Ido not play those... nor AeroFly because I haven't had the chance to test it...).I want to foresee a VERY BRIGHT future for FLIGHT and it's user community, even if sometimes it appears no one is really listening to us at MS, althoughI do believe they are :-)Never bought TrackIR (too expensive...) so not really a problem for me. And FLIGHT has such a good interface for panning, looking around, moving controls and buttons/levers, that I find it absolutely UINIQUE in this area. Most probably other flightsim producers will follow these ideas in future releases...Detail, even if I don't like the problems with the engine model (just because I am too picky...) are everywhere in FLIGHT, from the Earth to the Sky/Moon - exact Moon phase for each date.... and details like that....FLIGHT is really, REALLY, a great simulation of Flying!!!! MS Flight all the way. Even if it's only above Hawaii Flying gliders since 1980 Flightsimming since 1992 AMD Ryzen 5600x, 32GB RAM, GPU Nvidia RTX 3060 Ti 8 GB, 1 TB and 500 GB nvme2 SSD drives, HP 27" 60Hz LED monitor @ 1920x1080, T16000, Hotas from old X52 Pro, Saitek Combat Rudder Pro (2010 model)
March 30, 201214 yr Great choice on the Maule! I've had a lot of fun flying it! :) Hopefully more planes with cockpits get sold than ones without, so that more aircraft with cockpits start making their way to us. Happy Flying! -George
March 30, 201214 yr Yes, Flight whole look great, not only realism/scenary, but also fluidity and sharpness. Fsx is 10 years old software and does not takes advantage of newer hardware/architecture. A fusion of both, a Fsx "2012", would be fantastic, but we must resign to Ms marketing policys and use both, complementary, hoping Microsoft will change its mind or a new software house develops a new flight simulation software.I like Xplane 9/10, but my thought is that Laminar Research did not identify what a simmer need to find in a flight simulation software Antonello M.

I'll see in which mood I am once I got these 560XP... It's doesn't work like that. Any achievements you get with MS just adds to your gamerscore. Your gamerscore is not a currency, just bragging rights basically. Unless I'm missing something with Flight.
March 30, 201214 yr You are going to love the Maule! Take it out to some off-airport runways, you'll have a blast! Once you get the hang of landing it, there is almost nowhere you CAN'T land. In the right conditions, you can get it settled on 45 degree slopes, very short runways, all sorts of crazy spots that even the Icon can make it into.
March 30, 201214 yr Unless I'm missing something with Flight. You do. You get some MS funny money for specific achievements. Look at your live ID by hitting home/pos1. Those points can be used to buy from the shop. 1 hr inverted flight gives you 30XP eg. March 30, 201214 yr Gamerscore has nothing to do with MS points.I know. Unfortunatly MS chose to name both the same: XP. But I do not mean the gamerscore. I do mean those XP you get for specific achievements which are other than those achievements when you click on your profile in the flight menue where you also see awards and such. I mean the achievements you get - let me repeat that - for things like flying inverted, landing backwards, make 5 spins in a row etcEDIT: see a full list at http://aerocache.com/?page_id=556 Phil Leaven i5 10600KF, 32 GB 3200 RAM, ASUS 4070 12GB EVO, Asus ROG Z490-H, 2 WD Black NVME for each Win11 (500GB) and MSFS (1TB), Rolling Cache 16GB, Photogrammetry always OFF, Live Weather and Live Traffic always ON, Res 2560x1440 on 27"
March 30, 201214 yr I think you will find the reason why people are so up in arms about the DLC and other factors in Flight is that Flight is a great game, it has excellent potential, we want it to succeed, however..... well I will let the community speak for the however. I think you get my point.I personally love Flight, I hate the lack of decent aircraft, the Maule being probably the best in the game right now (IMO) followed by the RV6 are the only planes really worth a crap, that is what is killing flight right now.

Nada. Zilch. I cannot put it any other way. The link you show is about the achievements and how many gamerscores they each bring. This can never ever be converted to real money or MS points. Ever. So I hope you are having fun too because you are plain wrong with your thinking.Alex
March 30, 201214 yr Just did the landing challenges with the Maule. It's a ***** to get down properly...!!! My goodness. Handles really different than the RV. I also did a job, which is nice, but that one also got screwed up due to the landing...! But it's nice to have two airplanes worth flying now!
