Just did the landing challenges with the Maule. It's a ***** to get down properly...!!!
Lol, my initial impressions as well. Hang in there before you know it you will be kissing the runway with it.I found the approach and landing checklist helpful as well, although the " over the runway" speed was a little slower than I think it should have been. It lists it as 50, I prefer around 55-60. 50 and that baby will sink like a rock, at least mine seemed to.

Nothing is killing Flight, it's just that people still don't understand the new business model. Flight cannot fail, the only parts that can sell more or less are the extra content. The Mustang and the Zero may not sell very well, although we don't know and MGS hasn't released figures. But, you can bet Alaska Adventure Pack will sell hundreds of thousands of copies (downloads). And then, nobody will say that Alaska is killing Flight. And a USA West Coast Adventure Pack will also most likely sell very well, as will the Caribbean, the British Isles, Western Europe, Australia. And so will twin engine airplanes (with cockpits), a business jet, and so on and so on.The new business model means that Flight cannot fail, only certain DLC will sell less than others.Best regards.Luis

I also noticed the checklist speeds were too low. I am already proud that I finished all those landing challenges. One silver, one bronze... the rest I simply finished...

I want Flight to succeed, but Flight can certainly fail . . . any product can fail. How well the Alaska Pack sells will depend on its price. If it is priced at $50, I won't buy it, and I don't believe that it will sell "hundreds of thousands of copies (downloads)" at that price. I still believe that Flight will not succeed as a game, but it can succeed as a more complete flightsim.Flight has a lot of potential, but the ball is in MS's court as to where they go from here. If they keep focusing on the game aspects, while ignoring the simulator aspects, I believe it will fail.

Those LIVE XP points are there for Kids to brag about. In my experience, nothing more. (Psyche boosters if you will)

It would appear that Flight has already succeeded as a game, given the number of Zeros people have reported seeing in multiplayer.Given that these people you see in mulitplayer are supposed to provide the AI aircraft for your flights, ask yourself what it will take for Flight to now succeed as a complete flight sim. At this point, I wonder what they can provide us with in Alaska. It would make a good sim area, dunno how much of a gaming area it could be. Gonna have to wait and see, I guess.Hook

Yes, I have the "same problem" :-)Actualy, even though I still "love" Condor (the soaring sim) and even though I am monitoring the evolution with Prepar3d, the recent incursion intoanother well konown sim made me return rapidly to MS FLIGHT....Never bought TrackIR (too expensive...) so not really a problem for me.
Buy Track IR and use it in Condor and you will know why it is worth having. Especially for ridge soaring.Al

It is way too early to determine whether Flight has succeeded . . . either as a game or as a flightsim. Let's see where it is a year from now,

MP is NOT a replacement for AI. They are very different things. AI does not dive bomb me, or buzz around me like angry hornets.

Like I wrote previously: "the ball is in MS's court as to where they go from here."

Have you spent enough hours in open MP games to know how much this happens? If you're the host, you can toss these people out. After enough "prefer player" and "avoid player" you'll end up with people you want to fly with.Hook

In keeping with the OP, I've chosen...FSX, and I suspect for a long time coming until Flight grows up to become something more than a couple of areas to fly around in circles.I am really enjoying flying GA all over the PNW and down to California, over to Montana last couple of days. In 10 different planes with wonderful detailed VC and GPS.Also bought Prepar3d and am experimenting with it, it also has some growning to do.

Well I am not going to say I have officially " chosen".I still love FSX and still plan to fly it - although I will have to say , I have not launched it since installing Flight.I am sure if I do not do so before, when REX releases Essentials, I will then log some more time in FSX for some longer hauls in the 737, which is mainly what I use it for.

I know how to use MP and to weed out who I don't want in MP. My point was that MP is not a replacement for AI . . . not to me, by any stretch. Just because you are fine with the idea that "people you see in mulitplayer are supposed to provide the AI aircraft for your flights," doesn't mean that I have to embrace it the way you do.In MP, you only see at most 15 other aircraft . . . and those aircraft can be anywhere in Flight's scenery. With AI (when does correctly), the aircraft will much more realistically fill the game world.

The one thing that keeps me from uninstalling Flight is how good it looks and more importantly how smooth it is in my 3 year old, below recommended spec PC.
