I hate computer flat screens for vehicles...they require you to look over, reach and stay looking to get the right thing to press and voice stuff is amazingly annoying. A visual reference is one thing but this is nuts in my view. My 2005 GMC Sierra has a combo digital analog display...when I want to change the temp, one quick look and I don't have to stare at the "screen" to adjust, just turn the knob. We do stuff now just because we can not because it's safe or reasonable. I'm sure there are accidents related to folks staring at their screen too long, ie distracted driving. cheers..

I have flown extensively in the north. Years back I made my own orthos, still stored on my drive. 2020 have generic textures everywhere, it's rather boring. I have not tried Map Enhancement for 2020, but only in XP12.2. Map Enhancement is spot on, particularly if you use ARC coverage in my view. I love the ability to switch on the fly between providers and see which one works best in a particular area. MS generic textures are terrible in this area in my view.

I have found northern BC and Yukon and North West Territories has been totally neglected. There are 100s of small GA airports and the terrain is unique, yet, the focus of course one can understand this, is USA, Europe and the more populous areas. Quite frankly, to get around this, I use my XP12+ to fly those areas where the imagery with ortho photos is fantastic.

Boys, can we start playing nice in the sandbox, it's plenty big, room for everyone.

I have terabytes of Ortho, and much in higher zoom level. I switched to Map Enhancement and haven't looked back...it works great and love the ability to switch providers on the fly. I have to 16 TB drives sitting dormant right now. There are things I do like about MSFS but overall I prefer the "look" of XP12.2+ with ortho. Laminar needs to move into this century with some sort of streaming service if one chooses.

I recently received a modified file for Xroads for XPME...it works perfectly. For the life of me I can't find where my private messages are in the menus for AVSIM to thank this person.

I tried this as posted above...it causes my sim to CTD, it won't launch. My original library.txt and again after rerunning it looks like this. I love SimAddOns for MSFS...Ralph will not convert to XP unfortunately. The MSFS market not doubt bigger. I have used MSFS up north BC and into Yukon and much of what I have in 2020 is "fake" stuff not actually satellite images, perhaps it's in 2024. I have the entire north in imagery, and there are dozens of (not SimAddons) small GA strips, mining, forestry camps and such, these are depicted exactly as they are in XP12. So SimHeaven may be the issue? I will disable NA for instance and try it that way. However, I would prefer not to loose my SimHeaven autogen.

I don't see any difference in MET at all, and I do use SimHeaven otherwise we have to live with much poorer autogen.

I am wondering and wanting to get Xroads to work with Map Enhancement, I installed Xroads as prescribed, but it doesn't work, and I can't understand the context of how it works. Map Enhancement doesn't start with zOrtho scenery layers so I'm wondering if there might be a method to "make it so". I notice that many smaller roads with Map Enhancement are paved into the mountains into places that they look poor and take away the immersion. Anyone out there have any insight into this?

I was also engaged in that particular discussion as OP mentioned. I was taken back by the simplistic view of the person referred to that discounted XP12 after a demo test. I have both sims, I fly both sims. I enjoy both sims for different aspects of their functions. With Map Enhancement, I am getting results that are in some aspects far superior to MSFS. This really holds true in northern Canada, which in MS is faked textures and unrealistic. I love flying in poor weather to small Apts up north in XP with real satellite scenery. One carrier works best for this over the others available, one just needs to test on the fly which works for them. Anyway I support the opinions of OP, and am unbiased in my views. I just use which sim works best for me for particular reasons. I also have found that MSFS requires plenty of fussing and add-ons to get the most out of it, so this is not a reason to abandon a sim at a whim. We are recreating the world here, it's a big thing and has lots of complexities, so the sim needs help along the way.
