ORBX Cairns given an upgrade - by me!

A couple of weeks ago I bought YBCS Cairns on the ORBX site. I knew it was made a while ago as it was FSX compatible.

But I didn’t expect static jetways. I expected default ones. SODE probably didn’t exist back then.

I posted on the ORBX forum expressing disappointment. Fortunately Nick Cooper suggested there was a way of removing them requiring Model Converter X.

Well I installed it but had a lot of trouble getting it to compile as it required the three FSX SDKs. After several hours I cracked it and those dreadful static jetways were history. I can’t share the file as it would breach the T&C.

This morning I added custom GSX ones and here’s the result. Well worth the effort. All set for supersonic hops down to Sydney and Melbourne.😎

Orbx should send you a nice little cheque and then incorporate your stuff into theirs as an update.

Nice thought but probably unlikely. 😁

Hi Ray

I have used ModelConverter frequently (though mainly for converting aircraft models to use in Blender) and would love for you to provide a brief tutorial outlining the steps required to achieve this outcome for my own copy of YBCS, if you are able to do that.  I am a dual UK/Australian and fly the Aussie airspaces regularly - this adaptation would make for much greater depth of realism for the airport.

If you are able to help without breaching T&C I would be very grateful!

TIA, Brian
