Hi all,

I was burning out a bit on finishing recent scenery (can't look at the same airport for too long) so I started working on this small GA field in northern California requested by someone. It's a great fly-in destination from Sacramento or the Bay Area, thanks to Nancy's famous cafe. Never had the pleasure myself in my GA days in CA.

This airport is small and not too detailed so it came together quickly this week. Just need to add some power lines, adjust terrain, and fix vegetation along the main road and it should be ready. Somehow the default taxiways and other aprons were already correct in the sim, so that's less work too.

Great fun! Long roadtrips are another thing I miss about west coast life.

Life got in the way of flt sim. I developed stage 4 cancer, prostate, and metastasized to my bones, very aggressive, in winter 2022 while living away down in San Diego. I went to hell and back several times. Developed two vertebrae fractures where the cancer ate at my bones. Went through 20 rounds of radiation, infusion, injections, and full body scans, MRIs, CTs, X-rays...gosh, it was awful.

Slowly returned to a new normal for me. I have an ongoing regimen of chemo meds and still get periodic injections and infusions. But I'm deemed cancer-free in remission. I prefer to call it "in control".

The whole experience changed my life. I rarely fly the Sims even though I have MS2020, MS2024, and XP12+. I have other hobbies I spend time with. Lots of time with the wife, my kids, and the grandkids.

I do fly more in winter when it's raining, cold, and in general poorer weather for other stuff.

Short answer, I'm now doing very well considering, I'm above ground, I have good days, poor days, and dealing with pain is just an ongoing inconvenience.

I worked in Willows a few days a week for many years and ate at Nancy's. Nice work!!

That sounds like a really rough ride.

I'm pleased you're in control now and your outlook seems really positive.
