Scenery Released - Hearst San Simeon Airstrip, CA (CN66)
Hi all, I mentioned a little secret project in the KIZA thread, now released! This was a pretty simple project that came together quickly. Since KPRB and KIZA are still in development, just wanted to put something out there from this beautiful region of central California. This airstrip is private IRL, but is very close to the Asobo POI for Hearst Castle. Now we can fly into it in MSFS! 20260627_060632_65df403c8dc1af7d_cn66-hearst-san-simeon-airstrip-san-luis-obispo-county-ca-usa.png (1817×912) 20260627_060640_83470843102e45c7_cn66-hearst-san-simeon-airstrip-san-luis-obispo-county-ca-usa.png (1433×879) 20260627_060637_a057251df744bc35_cn66-hearst-san-simeon-airstrip-san-luis-obispo-county-ca-usa.png (1734×837) 20260627_060648_b80d6230c344d7e5_cn66-hearst-san-simeon-airstrip-san-luis-obispo-county-ca-usa.png (1756×836) If the color of the ocean in the interior shots looks a bit strange, that's just due to the window tint on the Carenado C182... Scenery Preview - Santa Ynez, California (KIZA)
That's why these people chose the place they did https://maps.app.goo.gl/N98hkkoMaEd46sieA On sunny days, hard to find a more beautiful part of the state!

Aww thanks, appreciate the sentiment. Vincent's airports are much more detailed and immersive than mine though. I am just trying to get the ones that haven't been done out there well enough to represent.

I hope that was AI generated too, just for irony's sake..!😄

I have a secret mini project in the area I nearly finished in one go today...so there will be even more destinations!

Haha, they are selling a lot of wine out there I guess. You got me curious and I looked it up, one estimate is that 12% of households in Santa Barbara County make $250K and up.

Yep that is the Scenery Creation developer ryan pointed out upthread. Judging by the airport scenery they have released, I am guessing they are from a certain very large country where piracy is rampant.

Arcade-like products are not the main issue, as you said. If there is a market for them, that's fine. But MScenery was claiming their product was 'realistic' and was using deceptive preview imagery as well. They really need to nip any of this false advertising and zero-substance product in the bud

Not sure about that. The one that confuses me is if MSFSscenerybuilders and FSXscenery are the same payware shop. They tend to hit a lot of regional and smaller airports that don't get attention, but quality varies widely.

Sorry I cannot say. Hopefully more will be announced in coming months

I was considering taking on KSMX but I heard a payware developer is already going to work on it, so it's off my list now.

Better late than never, it was blatantly obvious they were gaming the ratings system. There is no way that many people purchased and gave 5-star reviews.

Starting some work on this while waiting for more sources needed to finish the air museum in the KPRB scenery. Santa Ynez is the airport serving the wine country of the Santa Barbara area, ranking among the favorites of many GA pilots in southern California. Have had to take a few liberties due to some difficult terrain, but it's turning out OK. 6cd85e82d2896512b276075cf51391e781ef13fc.jpeg (1761×888) b744619bfa8b419a929b416a4d7f66ae72c0a7e1.jpeg (1784×902) 7d0827cff6853a4c0e6efbfadf5782a2d6c26d0d.jpeg (1655×886) dd400a5aa11caa27e07833ce88947a1eb4131815.jpeg (1645×904) 0379125e1a0d11bc99135ab863cf287ebd0d3a3f.jpeg (1622×821)

FS2024 - How to Eliminate "Melted Buildings"?
Have to agree with the other comments, I don't really see a significant difference, at least not that would be discerned in moving aircraft. Maybe in developer mode I would notice it more, but that's about it. Given the lack of substantial improvement, I would prefer to keep my GPU temp down instead.

EMB-110 is nice and all but EMB-120 would be much preferred...

Atelic LPMA Madeira runway 23 issue
I have never had this happen...clearing the default LPMA data is good, are you sure there is nothing else LPMA-related in your community folder? Good to check again

FS2024 - How to Eliminate "Melted Buildings"?
As myself and others said upthread that usually applies to the type of bespoke scenery that shows up in specific places highlighted in the marketing materials and such. That's a little different than walking around an entire city. But again, that is where Asobo has some culpability for sending a mixed message about what the sim really provides.
-
FS2024 - How to Eliminate "Melted Buildings"?
I think they would need to resolve it cross-referencing the top-down imagery. It is usually pretty obvious on 2D satellite view as to where building walls and vegetation are. But as others have said, that would eat up more bandwidth, in addition to the quality of output.

FS2024 - How to Eliminate "Melted Buildings"?
I am sure this has been mentioned previously, but in whatever tech Asobo implemented to render the TIN, they should have had it focus only on resolving buildings. Trees and bridges invariably end up screwy and that contributes to making PG look hit or miss most, I think. This is why there are hundreds of mods on flightsim.to for PG tree removals.

FS2024 - How to Eliminate "Melted Buildings"?
Agree with this too, it really depends on where. But in the places where it does look quite good, you will still get bizarre trees and what not. That said if people are trying to drive on roads and such and still complaining about how it looks, I don't really know what to say.

FS2024 - How to Eliminate "Melted Buildings"?
Yes and no. I had a look at this promo...they are definitely highlighting low level scenery but not the middle of cities. There were specifically crafted areas highlighted like targets for medical rescues, oil rigs, a mountain station, and so on. There were city views of LA and somewhere in the Mediterranean, but the LA one was too high for any melt and the Mediterranean one wasn't clear and climbing in altitude. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=p3xp-SnZDoY I haven't seen the city update ones though, so you could be right there... Also you have to assume the Asobo test crew has it running in an environment that is not the typical user's PC setup.

That's why I turn the (blank) PG off at that level

FS2024 - How to Eliminate "Melted Buildings"?
There isn't really any way to avoid it. They are meant to be seen from several thousand feet of altitude, not 500 feet.

Flysimware C414 update.
Love these twins too. My favorites are the BS Duke, the Blackbird C310, and the FSW C414. You're right about the C414 sounds, they are ultra high fidelity, great immersion with the headphones on. I also really like their approach to the tablet functions. C310 making a stop at KSTS yesterday 310stop.png (1837×892)

Not that simple I'm afraid. I have numerous custom files in the area, including shoreline mods. My fix will be specific to my comm folder setup...
