  1. Hello, Is nobody using OpenVFR? I actually prefer this to UTX as I can use 3rd party road textures with it (for example the one made by REX) as opposed to UTX. On the other hand it seems that the original shorelines around lakes all but disappeared. Thx, Alex
  2. Hello there, Anybody out there is using OpenVFR? It is a great little addon I just installed for France and the scenery is really better for VFR flying. I prefer this to UTX. However I just realized that something was wrong with my lakes and rivers - the coastlines simply disappeared. In short they are ugly. The OpenVFR website tells about some known issue 'water polylines do not display' however I do not know if it is the same issue compared to what I see (or rather do not see) Can some other user please confirm if you have coastlines around rivers and lakes just like in default or UTX? Thanks a lot, Alex

I am sorry mate but as a long time Xbox gamer I can confirm you that you are in for a great surprise: Gamerscore buys you nothing. Nada. Zilch. I cannot put it any other way. The link you show is about the achievements and how many gamerscores they each bring. This can never ever be converted to real money or MS points. Ever. So I hope you are having fun too because you are plain wrong with your thinking.Alex
  4. Valid question Jim - was thinking the exact same thing...
  5. Nick in Simforums has two downloads called FSX enhanced autogen. That was the thing I was referring to. I am quoting the known issues readme about this. You are right that the problem itself was not caused in any fashion by GEX.We have identified a single issue in which FSX renders a gable roof texture over some flat roofs from time to time. There appears to be an error in the FSX code for FLAT ROOF calls through the regionalization system which changes autogen based on where it displays in the world. So far the only area the issue appears is in the regions mentioned below. Unfortunately there is no solution to fix through changes to the textures because removal or moving the gable autogen roof texture would damage all the gable roof houses. It was not easy to spot before the textures were enhanced however after the enhancement process the out of place texture is easier to see. There is an image in this directory which shows what this issue looks like in the sim. I marked the image where the issue appearsPlease review it.Please be aware this issue is NOT caused by this autogen texture enhancement package and the same problem is present in FSX default. The gable roof error seems to only appear in these areas:North America, northern areas especially the northeastEurope in central and northern areasWe have not seen the problem display anywhere else.It does not appear everywhere or on all flat roof buildings.Unfortunately we do not have the time to try and find the source of the problem in FSX and correct it.No other issues are noted.Carry on,Alex
  6. This is a well known problem with GEX - not sure if Orbx has anything to do with it. If I recall it has more to do with NickN's autogen fix that is separaately downloadable from Simforums. Quoting from Simforums though the last GEX patch should have fixed most of it.'Autogen roof errors where the sim shows a ‘gable’ rooftop instead of a ‘flat’ roof has been corrected by 98% in the coverage area. You may see a few of these here and there but nothing like default.'Seems like you found the remaining 2 percent. Alex
  7. I read that IF can take the METAR from any actual METAR report and apply it to the departure and desination airports. I do not know what it does inbetween though. What about my other question regarding seeing the metar riport as you fly into weather and the overcast depiction?
  8. Thanks - great response! I am torn between trying this or Ideal Flights weather... How close the weather is to real actual METARS? Is there some way to check or display the METAR as you are flying into the zone of a new weather station? How are overcasts from above and below? And finally I heard it updates weather every 5 minutes - does it make your flights unnecessarily stuttery? Thanks again and sorry for bothering you with so many unnecessary questions. I know I could try it myself but I am really interested in your related experiences.Alex
  9. Hey Stick,So what do you think of Open Clouds after a few days using it? Still enthousiastic? I have been using FSRealWX but I do not like it that much especially for the reasons you described: unlimited visibility above 5000 AGL and the empty patches where global weather is set with its clear skies. So what do you think?thanks,Alex
  10. www.rocketroute.comThere is also a wonderful iPad version which automates all the Eurocontrol downloads and is free to use. This includes most (but not all European countries)Cheers,Alex
  11. So in the end you are not using Ideal Flights weather after all?
  12. Hi, can you please elaborate a bit on the flightplanner functionality? How does it relate to other similar softwares such as VRoute, PlanG or FS Build. Is it Navigraph updatable? Does it contain all intersections, etc?Does it show the created plan on Google Maps? Thanks,Alex
  13. This is something that has not been part of the initial release. Are you sure it uses real world METARS? More or less the weather concept the authir uses excludes real world METAR updates as you fly. It is also not part of the description on the webpage. Can you please confirm or deny this again? Thanks,Alex
  14. Sweet deal if you do not care about plateaus essentially at near every airport...Sweet deal if you do not care about plateaus essentially at near every airport...
  15. OK so where do you see the AFM tool sold separately for 29.90? I always thought it was exclusively bundled only with the ultimate product. Is there a download version? Is it user friendly and straightforward to use? Thanks,Alex
  16. Hi,I have two questions to Ipad users out there,1/ Can you please direct me to an iPad based flightplanning app that has a worldwide database of all airports, navaids and fixes and allows for planning and displaying the route overlaid on Google Maps or similar? It would be awesome to have something like Plan G on the Ipad...2/ Is any of you downloaded and using Simplates for iPad? What is your opinion? Thanks for your kind gideance,Alex
  17. Well it sort of is. Try picking up the Kamuela VOR from Bradshaw AAF...
  18. Could not agree more. The last example is Bobber's thread. And soon this one. Avsim was not like this before I can tell you that. But also that we are guests here as this is not a public forum. I believe that this being the only large discussion forum for flight is the major cause.Alex
  19. I believe all the job board missions are like that. Many times I have landed on a runway from the opposite end and it simply did not register as a landing. I had to do a touch and go and fly in again from the other end to register. Can others confirm this as well?
  20. The problem is with the landing. In case you are flying a job the game does not give you credit for the job if you land at the wrong end of the runway. You would have to keep the HUD open to find out the wind direction and still after that the only way mostly to find the parking would be through skipping the last part.Alex
  21. I have absolutely no idea what you are saying with your forked tongue. Your pill is timely maybe?
  22. I hope you are right. I would really love to do rescue missions in bad weather landing at awkward places, etc. At some point I believe everything there is an award for will be part of flight and that includes normal passenger transports with bigger aircraft as well as there is an award for 25,000 passengers flown...
  23. How do you do it? I would love to continue from exactly where I left the aircraft in its shutdown state after a job yet I cannot save the flight from the main menu. And when I do a challenge or something else in between there is no way to return to my original position. Is there no way to continue from the same airport doing a new job from the same place where you left your aircraft the previous mission? When to save the flight so that if I do some other challenges I could continue my separate imaginary pilot carrier?Thaks a lot,Alex
  24. I can see in the awards list that there are awards for rescue missions yet I do not find any on the jobs board apart from the kayaker rescue normal mission. As such my rescued people counter stays at 1. I immensely enjoyed the kayaker rescue mission and also one of my favourite FSX addons was Rescue Pilot. Has anyone managed to do some rescue missions besides the default mission or is this maybe something that they would ad in the future?Appreciate your views,Alex
  25. I have been tempted receintly as I really wanted to have an SSD and XP is really problematic with SSDs but managed to convince me after a while. The only upgrade I plan in the future is a new GPU as I have a good motherboard and an i5-2500k run at 4.5 Ghz. The GPU upgrade is coming nonetheless. Other than the SSD support is there something else that really sets Windows 7 64 bit apart from a good old garden variety XP?Alex
