March 29, 201214 yr Hello,Today while flying around my home airport (LPPT) I noticed something wrong with the roof textures on some buildings.I'm sure I have this problem for some time but only today I started taking a closer look at it.I don't know what might have caused it though...I'm running FSX SP2 with UTX Europe and GEX Europe.Anyone else has had this problem and fixed it?Thank you! Regards, Hugo Bravo LPPT
March 29, 201214 yr You don't by any chance have ORBX/FTX installed as well ? Go check the GEX forum on SimForums - I don't have ORBX/FTX myself, but I'm sure I remember reading something over there about conflicts between ORBX and GEX affecting roof textures in a similar way to your pix.

If you have any ORBX products installed, disable them using the FTX Control panel before flying into UTX GEX areas. March 29, 201214 yr Author Yes, I do have ORBX scenery packages. That's probably it...This shot was taken with the "default FSX" enabled in FTX Central though.I'll check ORBX forums for a solution.Thank you very much for pointing me in the right direction! Regards, Hugo Bravo LPPT
March 29, 201214 yr This is a well known problem with GEX - not sure if Orbx has anything to do with it. If I recall it has more to do with NickN's autogen fix that is separaately downloadable from Simforums. Quoting from Simforums though the last GEX patch should have fixed most of it.'Autogen roof errors where the sim shows a ‘gable’ rooftop instead of a ‘flat’ roof has been corrected by 98% in the coverage area. You may see a few of these here and there but nothing like default.'Seems like you found the remaining 2 percent. Alex
March 29, 201214 yr When that many roof's show in error, this is Orbx plain and simple. There have been reports that the FTX Central switch may not work if the users autogen description file is not being reset to default due to an error in the install or some type of UAC or other file protection running. It was also shown that some people replaced their files with a manual fix and that will also render the FTX Central switch uselssI had that issue myself after I had followed some blog post a long time ago and changed the autogen description files manually. What fixed it was someone sending me the default files and installing them with FTX switch set to FSX Default and then from that point on the roof problem stoped and everything worked perfect when I switched Orbx off.Accoring to this post: http://www.simforums.com/forums/the-autogen-tree-fix-is-it-bad_topic41396.html the autogen fix is related to tree tiles and has nothing to do with buildings
March 29, 201214 yr It's a very easy fix.If you PM me with your email address, I can send you the repair file. Or if you prefer, go to the FTX payware support forums. There is a post from a while back with a link to the fix. You will probably need to ask Tim Harris to reactivate the link, but he has always been happy to do that.Best,Ken

That was the thing I was referring to. I am quoting the known issues readme about this. You are right that the problem itself was not caused in any fashion by GEX.We have identified a single issue in which FSX renders a gable roof texture over some flat roofs from time to time. There appears to be an error in the FSX code for FLAT ROOF calls through the regionalization system which changes autogen based on where it displays in the world. So far the only area the issue appears is in the regions mentioned below. Unfortunately there is no solution to fix through changes to the textures because removal or moving the gable autogen roof texture would damage all the gable roof houses. It was not easy to spot before the textures were enhanced however after the enhancement process the out of place texture is easier to see. There is an image in this directory which shows what this issue looks like in the sim. I marked the image where the issue appearsPlease review it.Please be aware this issue is NOT caused by this autogen texture enhancement package and the same problem is present in FSX default. The gable roof error seems to only appear in these areas:North America, northern areas especially the northeastEurope in central and northern areasWe have not seen the problem display anywhere else.It does not appear everywhere or on all flat roof buildings.Unfortunately we do not have the time to try and find the source of the problem in FSX and correct it.No other issues are noted.Carry on,Alex
