  1. I have a T16000 which I use for tiller, roll and pitch. In the EFB I have : NOSEWHEEL AXIS ON/YAW/ROLL/VR just as in the ZIBO. Don't forget to always save your settings in the MAIN MENU lower right Save & Load Configs
  2. I like this youtuber vids: XP12 VATSIM | LevelUp B737-800 | Busy Departure From Singapore + ATC | SQ463 | enhances the beauty of the LevelUp 737 but also the beauty of X-Plane's visuals, the scenery details at airports, the colours, the lighting... For a free aircraft, I couldn't ask for more :-)
  3. I've successfuly hand flown it. Handles really nice.
  4. I really enjoy them too! An excellent complemento for the Zibo.
  5. Maybe in the future they can find a solution not based only in NOAA...
  6. Weather download failled: GRIB file not found. GRIB-1970-01-01-00.00-ZULU-srfc.grib METAR file not found metar-1970-01-01-00.00.txt
  7. I'm sooooo fine with the inexpensive LookPilot... Many moons ago a great friend offered me his TiR he was no longer using, and I used for about 1 yr before it broke for good :-// I have used recently another nice solution - BeamEye Tracker - but I watched some videos about LookPilot and gave it a go. I never use the eye tracking component of these apps but the "neck tracking" works just great ! And I believe you can easily get your view @vgbaron as you describe... Copilot tells me, just as a complement and in case I haven't quite understood what you ask for: ======== Beware !!! evil AI bellow :-) ( I can't live without it these days 🤣 ) ========= Short answer: Yes — LookPilot can provide exactly what vgbaron is asking for, and arguably more cleanly than Tobii’s native pause behavior. Below is the precise, sim‑focused explanation based on the AVSIM thread you’re viewing . 🎯 What vgbaron wantsHe wants a “freeze view” function: Press a button → head tracking pauses The camera stays exactly where it is (no auto‑recenter) He can click switches with the mouse Press again → tracking resumes TrackIR does this natively. Tobii does not — pausing Tobii causes MSFS to recenter, which ruins the workflow. 🟢 Can LookPilot do this?Yes. LookPilot supports a true “pause tracking but keep current view” mode. LookPilot’s “neck tracking” behaves like TrackIR/OpenTrack: ✔ Freeze view without recenterYou can bind a key/button to Pause Tracking. When paused, LookPilot does not send new head‑pose data, so MSFS simply keeps the camera where it is. ✔ No forced recenterUnlike Tobii’s native integration, LookPilot does not auto‑recenter when paused. ✔ Works with any MSFS aircraftBecause LookPilot injects head‑tracking via the standard SimConnect interface, MSFS treats it like TrackIR/OpenTrack. ✔ Easy to bindYou can assign: Pause/Resume tracking Recenter view Toggle tracking This is exactly the workflow vgbaron described with his yoke rocker switch. 🟡 How LookPilot compares to the alternatives mentioned in the threadOpenTrack + TobiiAlso solves the problem Requires Tobii → OpenTrack bridge More setup complexity Same “pause without recenter” behavior ChasePlaneProvides a “leave camera where it is when headtracking is disabled” option Requires ChasePlane (not available for MSFS 2024 yet) LookPilotLightweight Cheap No Tobii hardware needed Provides the freeze‑view behavior natively Very simple setup 🧭 Bottom lineIf the question is: Yes — LookPilot already does this, and it’s one of the reasons people use it instead of Tobii’s native MSFS integration.
  8. I will wait for 12.5 because many changes are coming, both FM and reciprocating/turboprop/jet engine and systems...
  9. As a side note, different aircraft of the same model can behave quite differently, and again although I do not have a SEP pilot license even gliders of the very same model can have their peculiarities... OTOH some aircraft require techniques that probably most simmers never explore or even become aware of. I recall the first time I flew the glider I own irl, and LS1-C, and was told to start the takeoff run with full spoilers, and then progressively retract them as I gained speed 🥴 I thought the guy telling me that was joking, but indeed he wasn't, and indeed that's the correct procedure for taking off in this model because the turbulent flow from the tug when affected by the spoilers, creates an important swirl of turbulent air that brings the ailerons alive sooner, and that's really important in the LS1 :-) I am yet to find a nice and detailed model of an LS1 in any of the flight simulation platforms I use(d) ... So... as simmers we should be good with acceptable sketches / caricatures of the models we vly(*), regarding how they actually fly... but I tend to be picky / neurotic about flight dynamics accuracy... (*) vly = virtually fly
  10. Before posting the results of my query to MS Copilot I considered the possibility of high core / gpu temps, and that is surely not to discard given the situation in the UK and Central Europe, but I assume the user is aware of the consequences of running desktop under high T... I have never experienced such a behaviour in MSFS, or X-Plane, though, even under limit situations...
  11. Well, I just asked my Copilot 😁 and his answer was: When MSFS locks the whole machine, it’s almost always one of these: 1. Dual‑GPU conflict (NVIDIA + Intel UHD 770)Your system has both: RTX 5080 Intel UHD 770 (iGPU) MSFS 2024 is known to hard‑freeze Windows on some systems when the Intel GPU is still enabled, even if the monitor is connected to the NVIDIA card. FixDisable the Intel GPU completely: BIOS → Advanced → System Agent → Graphics Configuration → iGPU = Disabled If BIOS doesn’t allow it: Open Device Manager Expand Display Adapters Right‑click Intel UHD 770 → Disable device This alone has solved the full‑system freeze for many users. 2. NVidia driver + MSFS 2024 conflict (common with 50‑series cards)The newest drivers sometimes cause: Hard freezes when loading airports Black screens GPU timeout → system hang FixRoll back to a stable driver: 552.44 or 552.22 (both confirmed stable for MSFS 2024) Use DDU (safe mode) before reinstalling. 3. Airport selection freeze = corrupted world map cacheMSFS 2024 stores map tiles and airport metadata in a cache that can corrupt and freeze the sim when selecting arrival airports. FixDelete these folders: Código %AppData%\Microsoft Flight Simulator\SceneryIndexes %LocalAppData%\Packages\Microsoft.FlightSimulator_8wekyb3d8bbwe\LocalCache\MapData %LocalAppData%\Packages\Microsoft.FlightSimulator_8wekyb3d8bbwe\LocalCache\SceneryCache MSFS will rebuild them automatically. 4. XMP / RAM instability (very common with 64 GB)Even if RAM passes MemTest, MSFS is extremely sensitive to marginal XMP profiles. FixEnter BIOS → set: XMP = OFF Or reduce memory speed by one step (e.g., 6000 → 5600) If the freezes disappear, you’ve found the culprit. 5. PSU transient spikes (12900KS + RTX 5080)Your CPU + GPU combo can pull very high transient loads. If the PSU is borderline or older, MSFS can trigger a full system lock. FixIf your PSU is < 1000W or older than 3 years, this is a real possibility. Most likely fix for your caseGiven your symptoms and hardware: ➡️ Disable the Intel UHD 770 iGPUThis is the #1 cause of full‑system freezes when selecting airports in MSFS 2024.
  12. Thankfully I don't have many stuff installed in my sims, and I just had to go throught the controller profiles definitions, graphics settings, and that's about all, because all of my addon aircraft were still there ready to go ...
  13. So.... I couldn't resist asking a great friend, active Airbus driver and flight instructor who used to teach in C152 and C172... He - Marco - just confirmed Xp12 is --> CORRECT <-- and, all other factors being negligible, including a well "callibrated" fixed/ground adjustable rudder trim tab, he recalls that there is a light tendency to bank right when the ball centers, almost imperceptible according to his experience even in other low wing props. So... again... correct, but probably too "intense"... in the default C172.
  14. I've never flown with an elephant in the cockpit, although I did fly with rather heavy passengers, either seated ahead of me or behind in a glider, and indeed in terms of CoG and glider performance it does play a rather important role. Now, if the imbalance is along the pitch axis like in your example, I believe you'll have to use both left yoke and rudder to coordinate, correct? You would be out of coordination if you only applied yoke(aileron) correct? Although differential aileron rigging palys it's role in most aircraft, it isn't enough to fully overcome induced drag, correct? So, sorry but really not a good example, and far from a correct interpretation of the effect I refer to... Also read my post and understand that all I am saying is that I find it "overdone" - too much bank into the kicked rudder side (right). I'm not saying it's wrong, and it surely isn't, just that it feels to me a bit too much... [EDIT: but I agree I didn't make myself clear because I only wrote - "it banks to the right" and I should have written "it banks way to much to the right"] If one applies "right rudder" there's going to be a right rolling moment due to yaw-roll coupling, and a bit of "left yoke" should be required, indeed... I just find it a bit too much in this model... maybe I'm wrong and a rw C172 pilot could comment ? And, also take into consideration that the torque forces you referred to are also in favour of a left rolling moment, not a right one, because you have a CW rotating prop, and the C172 is climbing at full power. BTW, the weight asymmetry due to only the pilot being on board is negligible, unless there's an elephant in control, but again it would contribute towards a left rolling moment, not right...
  15. There are only two things I find "strange" about the default C172, and even so it's with a LOT of reserves because I never flew one IRL, so I couldn't tell if they're valid: .) the huge pitching moment due to flap deployment, requiring a good deal of elevator control to arrest the balloning; .) when I "center the ball", say, during the initial climb at full power where the prop effects come to play in all their majesty, it banks to the right; Other than that I really like the way it bahaves on ground and in flight, but then again, never flew in such a C172 model IRL...
  16. well I had been running it for a while and had never stumped into it until today, and I start Xp12 pretty much everyday... Glad it's fixed. I haven't pushed the update yet. Thx a lot for your feedback guys 👍
  17. Thank you! So, not a local problem/user problem 👍 Thx for your prompt reply @SWVA4420 🙏
  18. Today after installing an addon, although I am not sure this was the culprit, when I started Xp12 a first time after installing it, everything went as usual, X-plane 12 loaded, I picked the installed aircraft, gave it a go for a circuit around LPEV and then closed Xp12. In my next Xp12 session, and no other installs or whatever modifications were done to my install, folders, disks, ..., I was presented with a popup alert screen saying "No default aircraft" had been found ??? The only way I was able to fix it was by deleting the "preferences" folder under "Output", but I really would like to understand what caused this problem... Any of you ever came across a similar situation ? Any ideas ? Thx !
  19. Excellent posts in this thread! I've learned a good deal of details, or remembered some I had already forgotten about...
  20. I’m practically drooling with anticipation :-) This could become one of the most interesting ATC robots around ! If only it could have an Xp12 port too 🥰
  21. @Simicro beware MSFS doesn't do the Poles very well, becoming rather confused, even if you switch to grid... Regarding your question, there are these days many sources of information available. Somo youtube channels are great for learning airline SOPs, and overall technicalities about line operations...: Examples: Ultimate Airbus A320 Flight Simulator Experience - Dubai, UAE Commercial Aviation Training - YouTube or, for more basic trainig: Your IFR Oral will be a Breeze with this Study Guide | IFR Checkride at a Glance PDF
  22. Not directly related to the OP, but in the X-Plane ECosystem, which is prone to integration of plugins for all sorts of purposes, I've seen lately an increase of some types particularly interesting for me - weather enhancement plugins. We've seen @MrBitstFlyer haze / visibility plugin, and yesterday I tested two plugins meant to create better overall turbulence effects. I know of at least another great project in the oven, covering this same area, but for the time being, give a try to: X-ProTurb — Professional Turbulence Engine - Utilities - X-Plane.Org Forum and XPT_Turbulence : Last upgrade - Utilities - X-Plane.Org Forum
  23. Indeed, it is actually more close to the real declination value here at LPPT ( IRL ) than MSFS 2024 where the magnetic bearing of rw 02 is now closer to 23º... In the past versions of Xp there were some discrepancies as time passed after thge initial release, but LR has used a nice algorithm and it's now real close to the real thing at various aerodromes I tested in the last few days ( Portugal only ).
  24. Good question, and I use justflight Traffic global too and haven't yet tried this new ATC plugin but will soon and would like to have that alternative too... But since you already tested NextATC, how did you find the ATC interaction? Was it easy to import a Simbrief fpl? How's aircraft sequencing at busy airports? How does ground do it's job controlling your aircraft and the other while taxiing?
