Yes it is compatible with the NGX. I am currently flying all over Europe in the NGX, with IF as my 'flight bag' :)

You would normally get the airport data error if you have added an addon airport, but not then done the maintain airport index thing within I.F.

If you have definately updated the airport index, not sure why you're still getting that error.

Did you close and restart I.F after running the airport index thing? .............. 'cos you have to do that.

I had the same thing happen to me last night when I tried to install IF10 also. I restarted after trying to install the indexes and reinstalled three times but to no avail. :(

Just bought this and i have a question about a couple things

Weather wise-Can i still use Active Sky 2012 with this?

and technical- I use the external FPS limiter....Do i need to launch from within Ideal flight or can i create a flight then go to my fsx >bat file and launch fsx from there?

If the above two can get a good response....than this addon gets my vote for addon of the year....the possibilities are endless with this

Tramps like us, baby we were born to run......

Download the program and its failling to index anything and therefore, doesn't show any menus. I have no add-on airports only GEX and UTX.

Yes, you can de-activate I.F. Weather. There's a small tickbox (easy to miss) at the bottom of the Weather page. It blanks out the weather fields. Then just use AS2012 weather as normal. Re: starting the sim. Create your flight in I.F. then try coming out of it, and start FSX using your BAT, then LOAD the flight called something like "IFlight". This should the load all aspects of the IF flight that you set up, including flight plan, briefing docs in the kneeboard, weather (if used), etc. But doing it this way (without IF running) will mean you won't get the evaluation, and your flight won't be logged in IF.

I tried the demo last night and my initial impressions are of confusion. Menus don't guide you at all from what I could tell. I understood that the demo limits you to 10? departure airports but I couldn't figure out how to have the program make a totally random flight i.e. plane, loadout, distance, number of stops, time, weather, etc.. There is no random button that I could find.

What I really want from IF is to have a selection of category settings to make totally random flights to explore the world. You know like bush type flying, GA passenger flights, huge airliner flights, water flying, etc.. A flying-type mission generator of sorts seems to be what I'm after.

This is basically what Ideal Flight does. You choose your aircraft and departure airport via the left hand column of buttons in the main menu (the airplane icon to choose aircraft, the world icon to punch in an airport and click new departure).

Then your flight generator can be found on the right hand column of icons. In there you can choose the range of time you want the flight to be (i.e. a one hour flight in a Piper Cub would be a much shorter distance than even a 30 minute flight in a MD-11), you can choose IFR/VFR etc, and many other options. In the very bottom there are a bunch of checkboxes that filter different airport settings. For example if you wanted to do some bush flying, you would uncheck ILS/military bases so that your randomly chosen destination airport will be a basic small field. Once you have those options set just click save and you should be good to go to generate a flight. Keep in mind when you are doing short bush flights you won't be getting VOR/airway intersections most of the time so you'll just have a direct GPS flight plan.

Also you have to keep in mind where you're flying from and what your limitations are. e.g. if you're flying out of a field in Hawaii you're not going to have many options for an ILS approach, but if you are looking for small fields then it should give you a few different spots to land.

This is basically what Ideal Flight does.

Yes and no. From all the talk in here I was expecting a more guided, navigation friendly program I guess. Spent a good hour fudging around with menus trying to figure out how to make it do what I want in my above post and couldn't. I was hoping for a total flight randomizer based on a few simple, broad categories. There is way more setup and areas you need to go to than I expected.

Aside, does the full version allow you to setup only certain airports for IF to use? For example, if I want IF to only pick and use only the 15 addon airports I have.

You are making it sound a lot harder than it really is. You can get a flight generated in like 60 seconds. Like I said, pick aircraft, pick departure, set basic settings in the flight generator, away you go. There's nothing more to it, not if you just want to get up in the air in a GA aircraft and do some sightseeing.

As for going to pre-set airports, isn't that kind of the opposite of the idea IF promotes (going to places you haven't been before?) I mean if you have add on airports and you want to go to them, you could just use FSX's built in flight generator.

Yes, you can define a 'favourites' list of airports, and have flights generated only from these.

The user interface is indeed not perfect, and some things could be more intuitive; but essentially as Molleh said, on the left side you're simply choosing an aircraft, weather options, and a starting point (much, much more control than that if you want it), and on the right handside, you're pressing the 'runway' icon to set your flight parameters. Once these are set, you can then press the 'rightward arrow' icon button, and Ideal Flight will generate flights (according to the parameters you set like time and distance), with just one click .................

It's an easy or deep a program as you want or need it to be.

I couldn't agree more (with OP). I fly using Flyteline and this proggie makes it very easy to plan my IFR or VFR flights. Once planned, I load the flight into PFE or RC4, also I load it into Plan-G, and off I go. I'm using ASE for the weather but I let IF add more AI beyond what MTX does.

It did take a bit to get used to navigating the menus and gettings things how I wanted them.

Does IF plan/schedule/have refuel stops? Demo won't show me fully how it manages fuel.

I'm getting a bunch of AI errors while a plan is being created.

What or how do the missions work? Demo won't show me this either. What the heck is a Maintenance Mission?
