  1. Are you doing the updated tutorial flight, or the first tutorial flight that came with the Q400 when it was released? If you are doing the old one, I would just recommend to skip that one and go to the updated one, which you can download from here: http://majesticsoftware.com/mjc8q400/downloads.html The old one from what I hear was written a while ago, when the FRANX6 was current, and I guess the nav-data has gotten updated since then. The Q400 came with the most recent AIRAC from when it was released, which was in (April, I think?) but the tutorial was not reflective of that. The updated tutorial is much more in depth, providing the flows, from cold to dark, to shutdown, flying a leg from Toronto, ON, to Newark, NJ. The SID, STAR, and approach plates are also included in the PDF. I often reference it when flying, so make sure to send it to dropbox or some other PDF reader if you have a secondary laptop, iPad, or other tablet to use alongside the plane! Fun travels! EDIT: You have to click Tutorials on the bar immediately below the main link bar which contains "Home, News, Products," etcetera, there should be a secondary link bar which has links to Docs, Repaints, Tutorials, Custom Scripts. Hope this helps.
  2. I love the QualityWings Avro RJ collection, they're going to add the 146 soon (if they haven't already, I haven't checked, I've been too busy with the Q400! :-P) and it's one heck of a plane. It's extremely fun to fly, the systems are just right if you're not that into having to take 30 minutes to start up, but not shallow enough so that it feels like there's no work involved. The FMC is actually really intuitive, and it flies pretty dang fast for the size of engines it has, but it DOES have four engines... The only thing, like a poster said before is that it's rarely, if ever used here in the states, although I understand it's much more common to see abroad, in some of the more obscure aviation communities, like Greece, Venezuela (I think?) and in some of the more popular ones like Great Britain and other European countries. If you've been wanting to force yourself to get into European flying and you haven't found the right opportunity, this plane is a great one to start with! As for the ERJ's, I enjoy them immensely, they are actually a challenge to fly, and to me, they are quite realistic. They have a pretty steril cockpit, which is pretty much like the real thing, and are often used in regional flights in the states by ExpressJet, Republic, and other regional airlines. As for the poster that cannot find the documentation, when you purchased the ERJ from the Mcphat site, it came with a PDF that includes a tutorial flight, flows, and all of that good stuff, I'm not sure if you must have missed it or something, but the documentation is there. I can send you the PDF if you'd like (if that's allowed..). Other than that, there's not much competition, other than maybe using the Airbus Extended from Aerosoft to substitute for some airbus regional routes.
  3. I use the FlyBy E6b app on the iPad and it seems to do a pretty good job getting me to meet altitude restrictions whenever I need to descend, as well as takes input as to how much altitude I need to lose, average groundspeed that I estimate, as well as vertical speed suggested. I can't seem to get the hang of the FMC VNAV, but that might just be due to lack of use, I'm a little bit more comfortable doing it the manual way. And plus, it's a little bit more hands on and fun in my opinion!
  4. Here's a picture over the hill country getting into SAT, looking out of the cockpit windows.
  5. GREAT! Downloading it right now, thanks a bunch!
  6. I had purchased Megascenery 2.0, Texas - The entire state, just before the Q400 released, and as much fun as I was having flying around with the Feelthere ERJ's and NGX around the state, I cannot simply fly anything other than the Q400 outside of any OrbX areas and the state of Texas. It simply looks amazing, and the feel of the Dash-8 is simply amazing. I have about 37 student pilot hours, working toward my PPL (on hold for the moment as I'm going into my last year of University, and Computer Science is taking up all of my time at the moment, and money..) and the first time that I hopped into the Dash-8, it was simply superb. It has the authentic feel of what I experienced in a C-172, except on a bigger scale. This thing is an amazing experience to fly, from everything to having to set manual rudder/aileron inputs on takeoff, to the little things such as the increased ground friction roll when your plane is wanting to slide sideways during takeoff due to the crosswinds (which you DEFINITELY hear, even on the little planes, if not moreso). I have never had so much fun flying in FSX and never have I truly had an experience that was so close to the real thing during my last 5 years of simming. I just wanted to share my experiences with this plane, and also, I do recommend any MegaScenery Earth 2.0 product that you may be thinking of getting. It is kind of a weird feeling when you first fly, and take off about 1,000 feet, but get above 3, or 4,000 and you'll truly see how awesome it is. I love flying around my home airport (KMFE) and seeing the familiar sights that I did when I was taking my first lessons, and quickly became reminiscent about my first solo and first solo cross countries. Disclaimer: Texas is a huuuuge set of files, about ~20 gigabytes of information, but it easily holds about 4-5 other complete states of information and photofiles, so even though it may seem torturous to think about downloading and installing, it is DEFINITELY worth it at the end. I cannot simply fly anywhere else that has only the default textures of UTX, GEX. I will be uploading some pictures soon as soon I as I get into SAT, AUS, IAH, and the likes of those. The coast also looks amazing!
  7. Wow, that looks amazing, and the livery that I use the most, good job! Let us know of its progress and I will get it right after it is released!
  8. I too, would like to have a livery of the new colors. This would go great for the connection routes
  9. Sounds like you're trying to use too high of flaps, and having to use a lot of power to drag it in, and with the torque effect accurately depicted, it's yawing to the left from the propellers. As they suggested above, use less flap, higher speed (but not high enough that you're left in ground effect and float halfway through the runway before you touch down) and land the plane. It really is a difficult plane to land, it either has to get put down, or you get caught with a shortage of speed and power, and hit the ground pretty hard.
  10. This beauty is one heck of a slippery airplane, it's amazing to see how you really do have to stay on top of it if you're trying to fly the approach manually, rudder trim is needed, and you sure as heck need to control your airspeed, the first approach I tried left me 1,000' over the marker, obviously forcing me to go around. The next two weren't nearly as bad, but speed control is the name of the game, it seems!
  11. It's a huge amount of files and space on the hard drive, but it's well worth it. Being in way south east texas (I can literally fly into mexico in about a minute after taking off) I do a bunch of Southwest flights all throughout Texas and with MSE, it looks ridiculously great in the flight levels, it gets blurry once you get to ~4000 AGL, but it comes with the territory I guess. Well worth the purchase, in my opinion.
  12. After trying forever to build a simple app today, I would like to give you thanks for sharing, I know it must have taken many hours of frustration to release it!
  13. Is this megascenery or what scenery is it? It looks great!
  14. I'm not sure which night issues there are with the ERJs from feelthere, I fly mine pretty often and I've yet to see anything wrong with it. It's really fun to fly, handles kind of heavy, similar to what I would think they actually feel like. As far as the systems go, it's not the most high tech systems but it's not the lightest either. I enjoy it as my main regional jet! As far as the default crj cockpits, I'm not too sure..
  15. Overcast as far as the eye can see! This was actually a nervous approaching going into NZTU (as ATC routed me into a grass runway.. had to enter the downwind for 21 instead) One more over England today, looks great!
  16. I don't know about you guys, but buying England was very very good for me. I just took a flight on Vatsim from Manchester to Gatwick (something I wouldn't usually ever consider doing with the default scenery, and with my not knowing the area,) to look around at the scenery and I was amazed. England actually feels alive now, I get the sense that I'm flying over cities that I want to visit rather than some unknown city that I don't care about. I was also amazed at the frame rates that I was getting, coming into London (which at dusk should give me a pretty big frame hit) it could not be smoother, and I was very happy with it. Gatwick also looks amazing, I have the UK2000 demo for it, but I'd really just rather leave the OrbX one as the default airport, as it is a lot smoother on frames, and looks very very nice. I also appreciate the photoscenery part of it, which makes flying over it at the high altitude levels something to marvel at. I was thinking about buying GEX/UTX for europe to get me to start wanting to fly around the UK and the area, but I'm glad I held off, as the many things that I get for a measly 45 dollars does not compare to the several hundred dollars that I would have had to spend to get comparable products to enhance the area. You can't expect to get 100% of the things to the tee in an area. It's a simulator, not real life. I'm sure even in PNW/NZNI/NZSI there are always going to be some people that will yell out "HEY! This is my home city, I know how everything should look like, and it was not depicted 100% correct!" But I look at it as a win every time that you purchase something, install it, and enhance your experience flying with it. It's unrealistic to expect things inside a simulator to match the real world 100%. But this is only my opinion. For now, I'll be flying happily wandering around England!
  17. Nevermind, a quick restart did the trick. Got it working now.
  18. Hello, I purchased Opus this morning and I'm having trouble setting up the DHM, AHM effects in the camera views. I set All Aircraft types, click default view, tick DHM, and configure both DHM and AHM in the settings, set the button shortcut to a key, click save all cameras, but I still do not get the banking/turning/taxiing effects when I'm flying around. I've read through the manual but it's kind of confusing and I can't get my head around it. How can I set this up easily just for any/all aircraft that I have?
  19. The CDN servers are crawling now, but still relatively faster than the other links (for me at least,) I'm crawling through at less than 100 kb/s :(
  20. Everyone stop downloading, I need to finish mine! But really though is there a better place to download it off of? It's going to take me 9 hours at this rate! :(
  21. Hello again! Sorry for the noob-ness, but I still DO get cloud popping when entering an overcast layer. I'm about to go through the overcast layer and the clouds in front of me are disappearing right before I even touch them, is there any option I need to change to fix this?
  22. Hello, I downloaded the demo today and I have to say, it's a heck of a lot more accurate than Rex+ is, but the only thing is that I still have the cloud swirling/popping when I'm flying around, and I can see straight through to the ground sometimes (though it depicts a much better ovc than Rex+) when overcast. As far as I know, this isn't supposed to be the case with Opus, are there any specific settings that I need to change in order to achieve the solid overcast? Never mind: changed the cloud coverage density and it's working perfect now
  23. I just picked up carenado's 182T along with the upgrade for REX+ yesterday and I have to say, I love it so far. The weather depiction looks great though I haven't been on any airliner flights, mainly around the pattern in south Texas, but so far, it works great, no shifting winds on final, metars are exactly as they should be and everything. Great update.
  24. Hey guys, I had ordered a 128gb SSD for a laptop that I was planning on buying from newegg, but I ended up not buying, and and I was stuck with the SSD, so I decided to install it into my computer. I used Ben's tutorial for moving FSX and making a link folder to the SSD file of FSX. It was going well, until I decided to take it for a flight in KLAS using Aerosoft's Las Vegas. I got the Duke Turbine up and running, and right when I was taking off, FSX suddenly stopped. It wasn't responding to anything I did, alt-tab, alt-f4, nothing. I decided to hard restart it and see what the problem was. When I got back into Windows, windows froze about 5 seconds in. It too wasn't responding to anything. Confused, I decided to hard restart it again, and this time, my computer didn't even show me the second BIOS screen with the P8Z68-V Pro motherboard. By this time, I was really confused and hoping that I wasn't going to have to reinstall windows and FSX again as I've done it twice in the last month and it is painfully slow, and time consuming to do it correctly. I decided to boot up the Windows 7 cd and do a system restore, with the SSD disconnected. Oh, this was after windows freezing in safe mode the same way that it froze in Windows 7 the previous time. It restored from the CD, but could not find (obviously) the FSX files from the SSD to restore. I rebooted and everything looked fine. I took a test flight again in the QW Avro RJ at LAS again, and it was fine. I also flew the C337 to see what would happen, and it was running smoothly. What do you guys think the problem could have been? It looks to be running fine now, but I don't want the same thing to happen when I'm about to land after an hour and a half flight or something like that. Is there a specific way I should have set up the SSD? I connected it, partitioned it, and formatted it with NTFS, via a guide that I found online. Is there anything else I should do? I also restarted to see what would happen, and it boots just fine. edit: Also, I checked event viewer and there's no signs of critical errors that had happened during that time, aside from the obvious system shutdown was unexpected. I did see a few DCOM got error 1084 critical errors though. What do these mean?
