  1. Just to close the loop on this thread...I checked my FSUIPC Miscellaneous tab and found that the "extend battery life indefinitely" had been selected (I was sure I had disabled that option but... ). After doing that all lights work as they should when the battery is on/off....at least in FSX DX10! Regards Brent
  2. Thanks for the suggestions Steve. I tried all of them but the problem persisted whether it was in DX9 or DX10 without libraries installed. I'll try re-installing the C172 and see if the problem persists. Strange because other folks weren't seeing this problem at the A2A site. Cheers, Brent
  3. Hi gents I've recently installed 'the fixer' after using Steve's shader patches for many months and am extremely impressed with the ease of installation and results. I have noticed that my A2A C172 lights (dome, strobe, landing, taxi and nav) remain on after the battery is disconnected on the a/c. Can anyone reproduce this behavior in order for me to try and eliminate what might be the cause of this. Others at the A2A forum are not seeing this. Thanks Brent
  4. Thanks - I didn't know they were equivalent!
  5. Thanks Gents - Joyeaux Noel! Brent
  6. Hi Steve If I have installed your DX10 shader patches d/l from Avsim is their any special steps I should take before installing the Fixer or is that all described in the manual? Thanks Brent
  7. I've looked everywhere but I'm unable to find the OAT (outside air temp) displayed on the FMC or any other gauge in the Q400. Is this missing or am I looking in the wrong spot?! Thanks for any guidance, Brent
  8. Hi folks Tooltips does not work when using DX10 in FSX and I was wondering if P3D V2 supports tooltips in DX11 when displayed in full screen? Cheers Brent
  9. Yes, thank you Rod! How you ever tracked those files down to be the problem is impressive! :yahoo: Thanks for everyone's help! Looking forward to the 'Fixer' :good:
  10. Thanks Paul I guess I'll wait for 'The Fixer' to be released and hope that cures it! Cheers Brent
  11. Paul I tried uninstall/re-installing the Cub but no luck (they do show in DX9). If you have the Cub are you seeing the oil gauge and compass? Thanks Brent
  12. Paul So true and I haven't paid attention to frame rates when simming since HW caught up to FSX. When I saw your post about frames dropping I unfortunately envisioned a stuttering mess....should have read your post more carefully. I think I'll give the C172 a whirl!
  13. Paul That is disappointing - I was looking forward to getting the new C172 and having those but if it doesn't perform well in DX10 I will probably give it a pass. :( Regarding the VC shadows, if you disable "Aircraft casts shadows on itself" in the FSX settings does that have any effect on your framerate vs using the VC shadows? Brent
  14. Paul Thanks for commenting but rats, going to 3.2.1 didn't work - maybe it never worked with this aircraft! Oh well, the DX10 shaders work with everything else I fly with so I'll just live with it.
  15. Hi folks I flew my A2A piper today and noticed that the magnetic compass and oil temperature gauges were blank (black) when using the latest freeware DX10 shaders. I'm pretty sure that it worked fine with the previous shader version (v3.2.1). I'm running the latest (v3.2.2) from December 2012 (I can't believe its been that long!) and Ive got black gauges. Can anyone with the A2A Piper confirm my anomaly or offer any guidance to overcome the problem (short of going back to the original version  ) Thanks Brent
  16. In your IF 'weather control settings', you probably have activated your thermals. The manual states, "Ideal Flight positions an object to gather information about the surroundings. This is an object with no mass or dimensions. Unfortunately some traffic collision avoidance systems (TCAS) may misjudge it as something that can be collided with." Cheers, Brent
  17. Rob Just make sure you follow the instructions Opus gives in the manual to make TrackIr play nice with Live Camera in Opus. I believe they are the same files that need to be changed.
  18. Sorry Rob, I don't understand what your asking me here. Brent
  19. Rob, I had the same concern with losing all my hard work with ezca (which was a real PITA to get working the way I liked). You can disable ezca from starting up without losing all the camera definitons that you may have set up in case you want to go back to it if you follow these instructions. To Disable Ezca from starting with FSX: 1. run the Ezca config.exe and select 'restore' to remove the ezca camera definiton in each aircraft.cfg. 2. Open your exe.xml with notepad. You will find it in the same directory as your fsx.cfg Search for the following lines : <Launch.Addon> <Name>EZdok camera addon</Name> <Disabled>false</Disabled> <Path>C:\Program Files (x86)\EZCA\EZCA.exe</Path> </Launch.Addon> change <Disabled>false</Disabled> to <Disabled>true</Disabled> Save and exit. Ensure that you enable Live Camera within Opus. Start FSX Ezca will no longer start when FSX is loaded. ************************ To Enable Ezca: 1. run the Ezca config.exe and select 'configure FSX' to add the ezca camera definiton in each aircraft.cfg. 2. Open your exe.xml with notepad change <Disabled>true</Disabled> to <Disabled>false</Disabled> Save and exit. Ensure that you disable Live Camera within Opus. Start FSX. Ezca will now start when loading FSX That's it! I installed Opus a couple of weeks ago and found that I prefer the Live Camera from Opus over Ezca and haven't gone back. Cheers, Brent

Left it 'off' to see how things would behave and it was fine....in fact, I found it smoother than what I had been getting from Ezca. Brent

Cheryl, Just to close the loop on this, after installing Opus (upgraded to ver 2.30) and following the instructions in the manual, I experienced no TIR jerkiness. In fact it runs as smooth as butter using my TIR4 with 5.1.300 driver. I do have 8 Gb of memory and experienced no problems whatsoever. Cheers, Brent

Cheryl When you say "precision is disabled", is this what you are referring to? I disable precision to eliminate the conflict with my flap operation. Regards, Brent
