October 29, 201213 yr Hi guys, Sorry to bother you with more little problems, but lately (and I don't know if it's because of the newer Betas) I've been having alot of problems using Track IR with Opus. It starts out completely smooth, but after a few seconds it starts to get jerky when panning around. If I open up the configure menu it goes back to being smooth for a short time and then gets jerky again. I've tried playing with the settings in Opus to no avail. If I disable Track IR in Opus and use it independently it's completely smooth and normal. Of course then I can't use the DHM effects because if I do then I get that violent shaking effect. Please help.
October 29, 201213 yr Commercial Member Hi, I can't think of suggesting anything other than modifying the settings in TIR and OpusFSX. Have you read our Flight1 forum topics regarding TIR? Try increasing your scan time to something like 30. TrackIR can become very jerky if 'precision' is disabled, its default key assignment is F7 so it's possible to inadvertently change it's setting if you use F7 to increase flaps. We have noticed our TIR is very susceptible to light pollution on a sunny day but I believe there is a setting in TIR to set the sensitivity, I'm not in front of my computer to check at the moment. Sorry I couldn't be of more help but we haven't made any changes to TIR in the latest betas. Regards Cheryl
October 29, 201213 yr Unfortunately I'm experiencing the same thing. Saw a big improvement with one of the past versions (I believe it was 2.24.1), but have frequent jumps and performance lags again with recent versions. I have tried adjusting the scan rate within OPUS. Hopefully a solution will crop up. I do appreciate your excellent product and support. "Even Ozzy's wagging his tail again. Liam who?"
October 29, 201213 yr Commercial Member Thanks for the feedback. Have you tried slowing the scan rate to something like 30? Cheers Cheryl
October 29, 201213 yr TrackIR can become very jerky if 'precision' is disabled, Cheryl When you say "precision is disabled", is this what you are referring to? I disable precision to eliminate the conflict with my flap operation. Regards, Brent Brent Beale
October 29, 201213 yr Thanks for the feedback. Have you tried slowing the scan rate to something like 30? Cheers Cheryl Hey Cheryl, Yes, I've tested the full range of scan numbers in increments of five. The 25-35 range seems to work best, and as far as I can tell has eliminated the problem of the view jumping to the forward position every now and then. But it hasn't appeared to help the problem already described by others. Panning will be buttery smooth at start up, but later in taxing or on take-off, it's as though head tracking slows to 2 or 3 frames per second, although the actual simulator FPS is unchanged. This will continue for perhaps 10 or 15 seconds, then go back to being smooth for perhaps another 10 seconds, and then the tracking fps will slow to a crawl again, and back and forth. October 29, 201213 yr Commercial Member Hi Brent, Yes that is it. Actually we don't have any jerky movements on our sytems but a user suggested this had an impact on his system so that is why we mention it. Hi Charlie, Thanks for the additional information. Is the panning problem happening in windowed mode or just full screen? Regards Cheryl
October 29, 201213 yr I have the same issue every now and then, but usually almost always with very very heavy weather. I have upped the smoothness and always run in precision mode which helps a lot. Also hoping that maybe some more users would input and we can figure this out, as like the rest, my Sim is actually pegged at 30FPS when this happens, just a lag of sorts with the TrackIR interface. Is renaming, and running TrackIR mandatory through OPUS? Or is it just when you use the DHM, as if that is the case, I can sacrifice the DHM until this is fixed as I bought mainly for weather. Maybe we could be pointed to a simconnect folder or file to upload so you guys maybe can see what it going on? Maybe a overload? William Sequeira
October 29, 201213 yr THanks for looking into this. For me it happens in windowed and full screen mode, and even with frame locked at 30fps where everything else is very smooth. Again panning starts out smooth but quickly gets jerky. As I mentioned if I run Track IR independently of Opus it works just fine, so I don't think it's a problem with Track IR itself. I didn't notice this before Beta 2.24 more or less (as was mentioned above) and I haven't tried going back to an earlier Beta to test, I haven't had time.

Does it get less jerky or more jerky when you increase or decrease the scan rate within the Configure dialog ? This all has to do with 6DOF calls being thrown away but I might have a few things to try if you are willing to put up with it a short while. Stephen Guys can you send me an email if you are using beta version 2.29.x and I will send you a test FSXTRACKIR.EXE when i'm ready. If you are willing to test some mods out that is. Trouble is the TIR works perfectly on all three of my systems  so I need testers who are suffering. Stephen
October 29, 201213 yr It gets more jerky as I increase the scan rate...almost like I am asking too much. I also have smoothness maxed out inside the trackir program. I am more than willing to try different stuff or help out the troubleshooting of this. I am a beta lover...lol PM sent for FSXTRACKIR.EXE, so send when ready, no problem. William Sequeira
October 29, 201213 yr Commercial Member You will have to email me on [email protected] Regards Stephen
October 29, 201213 yr Commercial Member William You do have to rename the TIR manifest files otherwise TIR will not work with OpusFSX. Regards Cheryl
October 30, 201213 yr Cheryl / Stephen, Could you please answer my question above --- #5  Thanks, Brent Brent Beale
