what is your favourite aircraft for sightseeing?

Featured Replies

Hi,what is your favourite aircraft for sightseeing? The one I prefer is the default Extra 300. It gives good lateral visibility, is fast, responsive and challenging to fly especially on take off and landing. You can do some aerobatics en route, side slip on landings to improve visibility The only drawback is that useless compass (I don't know if is realistic).Any other suggestions?

For real sightseeing (like checking out one of the Orbx airports addons) I always use the FSX Ultralight. For 'normal' sightseeing (I only fly GA above PNW and in fact I always do sightseeing) I use the Bonanza (Carenado).

For sightseeing I use my favorite the A2A P-51D Mustang, with the Crazy Horse paint scheme! (Crazy Horse is actually a TF-51D, but there are none modeled in FS yet.)

Thanks

Bellanca Viking Turbo.
Yup, me too. Lionheart's Bellanca Turbo Viking is one of my favourite FSX aircraft of all. It can easily make it up to 20,000 feet if you want it to (with the pilot on oxygen, which the model shows), it can cruise at 200 knots, but you can get it into very small airstrips, and it has a really beautiful VC.It's not that expensive either; seriously recommended. If on the other hand you want to do some aeros en-route, then I would recommend either Addictive Simulations new Pitts S1-T (see recent Avsim review), or if you prefer a monoplane, then EAW's Sukhoi Su26, which is far better than the default Extra, but a very similar type of aircraft. Both of those can cruise at about 200 knots. If you want a lot of speed, then you could use an Me-262 (of which there are a few for FS) or another nice one is the Warbird Sim P-51C Mustang, which is really cool, as it emulates the C variant's propensity for a spin if you get sloppy on the controls. Roll most of those inverted and visibility is excellent LOLIf speed isn't a priority, then another fun one is the Golden Age Simulations Boeing Model 75 Stearman, or their Boeing B-40, they are great for sightseeing! If you are prepared to wait a couple of weeks (since it hasn't been released yet) there is also this coming from FSD: http://www.fsd-international.com/Hangar/XNRG/Al

A2A Cub. Doesn't cover a lot of territory, obviously, but while flying it - especially with the door open - I've noticed details in the scenery (is that a marina over there?) that I've missed in all my other aircraft. If I flew the ultralight more, I'd probably have the same kind of experience, but there's something about the total sensation of flying the Cub that just makes it for me.Alan

The Lotus L-39 is perfect for sightseeing if you're in a hurry. Otherwise the A2A Cub, Dodosim 206, and Carenado Bonanza do it for me.
