What's the lowest FPS you accept?

Featured Replies

Just out of interest regarding your FSX experience - what FPS do you consider unenjoyable with a complex addon? For example, I have my game tweaked so at Heathrow with MyTraffic 2010 and the NGX, in bad weather, I drop to about 22fps....I would not be happy if it were any lower than this so I make compromises regarding turning off airport traffic, car traffic and having big advanced airport addons. That way I get 30fps constantly in flight and pretty much anywhere that isnt an EGLL sized airport.

How about you? What's typically considered unflyable?

Anything under 10fps. Started with a laptop so I'm used to low frames. With the new PC I rarely go under 10, if ever, so it does me ok. Obviously I don't like it when it goes under 20 but I can handle it :P

I'd say 18, anything below that just doesn't worth it

i am so spoiled now with 70-200fps in fs9 at max detail with alot of payware add-ons that i can't boot up fsx with my usual 20-40 at max detail. If i enable dx10 i get over 50fps but those flickering runway textures make me dizzy, lol.

Mmh with FPS bigger the better.

I accept 15 at lowest I think. But 20+ I prefer.

I have a rather old GeForce 8600M GT so am used to a few stutters from time to time. Since I fly mostly helos where smooth control is essential I aim for 10fps +.

Maybe I'll bite the bullet and , wife permitting, will buy a new rig with all the latest bells and whistles.

Yeah, I'll vote for 15 too. Anything below makes me lower the details (as some airports allow). So if I see some full EGLL at 15 when bringing in the Concorde in bad weather, it may be ok. But the regular fps should aim for 25+ in my eyes. But, since I don't run the fps display on a regular basis, I couldn't tell the exact values just from flying, so I only look at them when I feel 'slow'.

20-30 fps is all I need. The important thing is that the sim is smooth.

10 in heavy traffic areas at peak times.

Around 10 -15 if its Heathrow at its busiest.

One, anything less and it looks like my sim has locked up..

I remember back in the days in FS 2004 when I was using my old Dell Inspiron equipped with a 128mb Graphics card and 512 MB of ram . I was achieving around 4-5 FPS on the PMDG 737-800.

And that was on a default airport with little or no autogen,

It used to take around 10 -15 seconds to change view as well !

Yet I seemed to be happy with it. I don't know why.

Thankfully those days are gone now ! :Peace:

Nothing less than 30. Nor do I want any more.
