  1. A really awesome mod. Thanks for all your work and the time involved, Bill. ☺️
  2. Lots of news in this FSL post of course, but I think the FSX crowd in general and especially the ones currently lacking the nice Concorde X in FSX-SE will be happy about the progress. Late but very welcome! http://forums.flightsimlabs.com/index.php?/topic/6040-fslabs-products-a320-x-concorde-x-spotlights-a-long-update/
  3. Assuming you are on Windows: http://www.wikihow.com/Take-a-Screenshot-in-Microsoft-Windows Next question will be how you can post it here, which could happen by attaching the pictures (perhaps crop+resize them first) or by uploading them to an image hosting service (most are free) and then posting the links here.
  4. And that's actually quite nice on air so please disregard my post raising the temp issue. It would not have affected fps anyway, unless your CPU would 'throttle' due overheating, which it does not at 65C. Did you post your render settings somewhere so that the folks could suggest small (and perhaps significant) changes to help a bit with fps? Since you are running good hardware already, not much will come out of investing hundreds of bucks to gain small percentages, so the settings seem like a viable and cheap path. Stating this because, once you run into CPU limitations, the solutions incorporating stronger GPUs don't help and the ones needing you to buy a new board, CPU and RAM don't yield as much when you are already running a somehow current 4670K. FloB's link showed that there are gains of course but only small ones in relation to the money invested. Long story short, settings screenshots might help.
  5. That's a nice overview indeed. Thanks for the link. They also state that Hyperthreading isn't necessarily helping the sim so the achievable clock rate, as you say, remains the primary target. If those are idle temps, they are a bit on the high side. Do you run a small case and/or cooler? Or is dust a problem? Edited: What do you get under load?
  6. Couldn't this be integrated with the RTH settings and menu? I mean, you are right, the 'artwork value' improves a lot with small changes.
  7. A small update after trying it. Leaving the battery drain aside (expect some 0.5-1% loss per minute) this is really well done. I could even get my girlfriend to try and the controls are super intuitive. We flew around Innsbruck for the tutorial and it's actually quite impressive what the software does on my 2013 phone. I still have to figure out how the multiplayer would work without the dreaded Google+ 'need' (note: that's a Google Play Game Services issue, not a LR one) but, so far, this seems like more fun than I expected. Might get the Baron from the addon planes to unlock some more challenges. "Honey, get me my charger, I gotta fly!" B)
  8. Now that's a nice cockpit and I don't even want to think about the cost for all that hardware. This is so unfair, while us VC flyers are happy about decent 'click' sounds in an addon you get them by design and they sound so sweet. Are you planning on going even bigger regarding the screen btw?
  9. 16gb surely won't hurt, Richard but if the currently installed RAM actually affects your fps remains to be checked. 10.40 in itself seems like a huge improvement btw. The loading times alone are nice. The loader now fills all cores to the max.
  10. And it also means some extra funding arrives over at Laminar. Will try it soon although I would fear that my battery will drain a lot faster than my fuel. This and water on Mars still blows my mind.
  11. And here I am still on default clouds. The 3.0 video looks really nice though, especially the overcast situation.
  12. Very nice seeing the walkaround part even improving some more over the already great A2A. Looks very promising and seems like a first on the XP platform when it comes to the details. Does that mean that the model isn't implemented yet and comes as a free addition?
  13. Just guessing but is your folder view set to show all files? If the dev says the installer places them there, it should indeed offer something.
  14. Maybe they go the 'virtual flight engineer' route. The Concorde for FSX featured such a thing and it came in very handy when being new to the plane. The A2A 'Captain of the Ship' also runs such logics, so there's a lets say precedence available. B) Oops, I saw at least one item already being listed by LAdamson. Right he is.
  15. Assuming he/she is using wav files, you can always search for *.wav in your sim folder. Should come up with a lot of files but since you can sort them by folder, it's easy to see the ones being outside of the standard ones. If this program uses 'compressed' sound achieves, it's more tricky if not impossible to alter them. But I saw that most addons go the easy route and use single sound files for certain events, like your autopilot disconnect. Might actually be the case that the file names used lead you directly to your target.
  16. I think the Wilco planes have a very detailed config tool where you can set up the VC line styles plus antialiasing and things. If that's no help, perhaps check if the FSX setting for 'hi res VC graphics' (that's from memory, but the description should be close) is enabled. Could be a possible error source.
  17. Sounds funny indeed. Perhaps try some of the free tools from MS (Process Monitor for example) to check what happens right at 18:02. If there's a new process/activity coming up, it will log it.
  18. No need to be embarrassed about your preferred way of flying. It's the sim for a reason and it mainly serves an entertaining and relaxing purpose for most of us. Have to applaud to the folks giving tips and links, that's what a community is about. Have fun flying, Stan. With or without the FMC's help, it will most likely be fun. And if you would ever get bored following the coloured lines, you can always pick an old school airliner and check how VORs and ADF work out.
  19. It's cool that he starts off with praising the detail and free nature of the X-Plane scenery addons, namely W2XP and RTH I guess. So true! Also nice seeing the DC-6 getting closer to release. That circuit breaker detail surely is a nice item to keep you busy.
  20. Unless specific problems are reported, you can always go with the latest (final!) driver release. Those should be the WHQL ones. That is, if you are in need for having current drivers because you are playing other games too. Lets say Witcher, GTA V and so on. If you are on X-Plane only, the new drivers won't deliver many improvements, if any. Sometimes, but rarely, they also introduce some trouble. (Note: this trouble was solved by the XP devs already) So in that single application usage scenario, it's reasonable to stay with the driver you are currently running unless new ones would improve things significantly. There's no 'magic' driver available. Anecdotal reference: I'm on 353.30 WHQL which is working fine and also allows for my other games to perform adequately.
  21. Have to agree with the others when it comes to (happily) using two sims. You will have a lot of money and still current models running in FSX so you can try X-Plane and decide whether to 'grow' it or not. For your short after-work flight, FSX will still be around. Ready to go. A lot of the things really enhancing XP come as free and donationware so trying won't cost you a lot. Once you are feeling confident enough, head for some payware items and add to the small but growing market. After all, this is what lets companies join the game.
  22. I hardly request such things but.. could you record a video? Might be that some folks instantly recognise the problem by actually hearing the sound. Receiving it in two very different applications is very unique. Perhaps also list all active background tasks or post the screenshot from the taskmanager.
