May 27, 200323 yr Hi,Just wondered if anyone has struck this weird problem. FS on my system has been stable for ages, no problems at all. This morning, I downloaded that EC135 from http://www.flightproject.net/ and tried it out.Nice helicopter, sure. As it happens, I already have this file, albeit with a different livery and both versions work just fine. So I flew the new machine for a few minutes, then switched to Antti's EC 130. FS crashed immediately. At the restart, (my default flight is the bell sitting on a helipad in Melbourne) again, select the EC130 - Crash. I tried several different options before selecting the EC130 - default bell & cessna, engines on/off/inside cabin/external view etc. Each time, FS crashed when I selected the EC130. Ok, so whats changed? The only new file added to FS in the last day or so was the new, blue EC135. So I moved it into my "AMARC" hanger; a directory ourside of FS (where I place aircraft I dont fly but dont want to delete).Restart FS, select the EC130 - no problem, runs perfectly. Tried a couple more times - still no problem.I wonder if theres a limit to the number of models/utilities/scenery addons that FS can cope with? May 28, 200323 yr The same problem is been discussed over at hovercontrol, but I've just noticed what may be a common link (other than it seems to be happening with the EC130), everyone also seems to have just d'loaded the EC135... is one interferring with the other? Not sure how, just a thought...CheersAlun
May 28, 200323 yr Hi Alun,I don't have the (or any!) EC135 installed, but FS crashes when I use the EC130.What I have done is thrown Beta testing tricks at it and tracked the problem down to the VEMD gauge on the 2d panel. If I disable that in the 2d panel *only*, the helo works fine - including leaving the same gauge active on the VC.I'll try disabling the VC version this evening, and see if I can then keep it in the 2d panel. It's definately wierd though!Strangely, it isn't a consistent crash. Sometimes it dies the moment I select the aircraft, others a few moments after a take off and other times again, FS only crashes when I try and exit the program. That's the bit that's mystifying me.Ian P.:-halo(Edited five minutes later to add that it didn't help - the sim crashed as soon as I selected the EC130 with the VC VEMD gauge disabled.)
May 28, 200323 yr "Strangely, it isn't a consistent crash. Sometimes it dies the moment I select the aircraft, others a few moments after a take off and other times again, FS only crashes when I try and exit the program"Exactly my experience too. Removing the ec135 seems to have cured it, but thats odd in itself since I have another version of the same model which doesnt interfere with anything.LPXO
May 29, 200323 yr I'm not suggesting that anyone else should do so but when I have occasional 'puter crashes either while flying or on reloading FS I just delete the FS2002 cfg and restart FS to generate a new one. This works most of the time for me. Just a pain in the neck redoing the settings. Running 900mhz,Nvidia TI 4200 & Win98SEGary
June 10, 200322 yr I had the same problem. First occured when I tested the helo. After few times, I stopped to use it, but it still crashed, and had to *remove* it from fs. FS hasn't crashed since
June 12, 200322 yr I too had the same thing happen, installed a couple of other aircraft, no prob. Today fired up the EC130 at KMSO and no problems. :-hmmm Oh well. Wish I could help other than giving you hope.John
